|Discover||I discovered that James Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize, just like Martin Luther King did. I will find out why he won the NPP as well as what he did as president to make him a hero.||I shared the information about Carter's peaceful work and my peer agreed that peace is an important part of being a hero.||The information from the resources page is valid because they are library and government sites set up to help people learn about the presidents. I dicovered key words like "promote human rights and democracy." I am finding the key details to support my claim. I designed my essay [see next column} and then drafted the essay in paragraphs with transition words.||I organized my notes according to my sources and only took notes on what would be key details to support the claim that JC is a hero. I put quotes around the words that came from the resources and then wrote my ideas afterwards so I wouldn't be plagiarizing. I'm thinking about what kind of images I could use. I still need more facts. I then organized only my own words by copying/pasting them into an order for my essay. I wrote subheadings and topic sentences so my essay flows logically with my evidence. I added warrants and a conclusion. I'm ready to write my essay.||I checked my spelling so I woudn't have to go back.||President Hero James Carter; notes link||1/31/2016||https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IMWAF92NeHyWJ2xZJDuCM9I33chNStv9cjBXblAFydE/edit?usp=sharing|

I found how he helped not only with elections, but the Center has eradicated blindness in three countries. I included these in my notes.||I copied my organized notes and removed the bullets. I added additional information that explains the evidence and builds on the ideas so they are not just a list. I included the warrants and added a conclusing sentence to each. I improved my introduction. I revised the draft several times. Then I found images to fit each paragraph, searching for key words such as "Jimmy Carter China" "Habitat for Humanity" "Jimmy Carter Portrait". I formatted everything to arial 12 point, then added color to titles and subheadings. I added my list of sources. I copied the pictures from my Media search and pasted them into the essay. I copied their URL and pasted them into my list of sources. Then I created a new document and just copied the final essay and sources list into it. I made the document color a light blue to make it easier to read than black on white and to be more professional.||I read my essay over several times, correcting missing words, funny wording, punctuation, etc.||President Hero James Carter; final essay doc link||1/31/2016||https://docs.google.com/document/d/1S5kk0N-dTN63SXsHn6e_Yc1NBySkYBfjCgkyLaVmePA/edit?usp=sharing|
