Comments include: "Linda Nichol fantastic. So how deep might this animal have been diving? Sounds like he went down for ...almost an hour at a time? So must have been very deep and/or some very profitable feeding way down there.
Jared Towers The deepest part of Johnstone strait is just over 500 metres and the dive durations I could document were between 20 and 40 mins."

Our first sighting, which would have been at approximately 4:30 PM, was from 1 - 2 miles away. We saw his blows and then fluke. We were crossing Boundary, between the north side ot Stuart and South Pender. We was at our northeast and we went to get a better look for his next surfacing. At that point he appeared to be well offshore of Blunden Islet, on the southeast side of South Pender, traveling directly toward Turn Point.

We waited for 25 minutes, then left to catch up with J pod along the North Pender bluffs. About an hour later (rough guess) we had visual at Turn Point."
