Valid Assessment Period Worksheet
2
Use this worksheet to check whether a student's prior assessment will still be valid for a future class. LACES will subtract 230 days from the start of the new Program Year (7/1), or a student's Class Start Date (if after 7/1) to determine whether an assessment is valid and acceptable for use. That means the oldest test record that can move forward is 11/13. You can mirror that process with the worksheet below. This rule applies to assessment records entered manually, uploaded, and carried forward to a new program year.

Notes
This rule looks for the highest CASAS test or Alternative Assessment within the date range. If assessments are no longer valid or the level is Completed or Exit ESL 6, you must re-assess.
• The HS+ Credit Option assessment method remains active as long as the HS+ special program
End Date has not passed or is blank. LACES will recalculate a student's entry level each time they re-enter the program.
• Think about conducting winter pre-testing sessions on or after 11/13. Choose a later date if your summer classes will start later than 7/1.
• Test carry-over for the next program year will not happen until 7/1. So, you will not see any carry-over activity for students in summer classes that start in June until we cross in to the new program year.
