Funds improve all forest resources, including fish and wildlife habitat, and soil and water quality.

Open and ongoingN/ACalifornia Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) CDFW's Drought, Climate, and Nature-Based Solutions InitiativeFunding for multi-benefit ecosystem restoration and protection projects under the Drought, Climate, and Nature Based Solutions Initiatives: $100 million for drought resilience, $35 million for projects addressing climate impacts, $54 million for wetlands and mountain meadows restoration, and $42 million for wildlife corridors. This new funding supports key initiatives including California’s 30x30 initiative, Nature-Based Solutions, and Cutting Green Tape. CDFW funds the following types of project: planning, implementation, acquisition, and monitoring. To support this new funding, CDFW has launched a new single continuous application portal which will remain available on an ongoing basis. Applicants do not need to determine which funding source to apply for since CDFW staff will determine that during application review. CDFW is accelerating the review and approval process under this funding with the goal to review and approve the award for grants for projects within 30 days of receipt.

Open and ongoingN/ACalifornia Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB)WCB Grants OpportunitiesWCB is implementing 15 grant programs statewide to implement acquisition, restoration, and wildlife-oriented public access projects. Major priorities include protection of biodiversity, climate resilience and implementation of 30x30 goals. WCB uses a single continuous grant application process for all proposed projects. A flowchart of the process and additional information can be found on the WCB Grants page. The process begins with a Pre-Application; however, Applicants can consult with WCB staff at any time. Applicants do not need to determine which WCB Grant Program or Funding Source to apply for since WCB staff will determine that during application review. The review and selection of applications will depend on staffing capacity and the number of applications under consideration at any one time.

Open and ongoingN/ATahoe Conservancy (TC)Tahoe Conservancy Grant ProgramsFunding for a wide variety of projects throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin, including those identified in the Environmental Improvement Program (EIP). Major priorities include strategic acquisition of sensitive lands, building wildfire resilience, restoring ecological function of forests and watersheds, strengthening land stewardship, improving public access and outdoor recreation for all, and building climate resilience. The Conservancy solicits grant applications after extensive discussion with individual partners or interagency EIP work groups. Funding to removes barriers to fish passage for native migratory or sea-run fish so as to rebuild productive and sustainable fisheries, contribute to the recovery and conservation of threatened and endangered species, enhance watershed health, promote resilient ecosystems and communities, and increase tribal capacity and opportunities.
