Note: A portion of the technical appendix says regarding these figures, "The series built with N. Qian are based on data from surveys and severely underestimate the highest incomes. I thus add a 40% increase in these series, which seems plausible given the under-estimation of the Chinese income tax revenues." This appears to be a minor misstatement, as the figures in "Capital" are 50% higher than those found in WTID.
