What does it do?||The Intelligent Learning Platform (ILP) is a new tool added to Blackboard to give faculty an efficient means to post Midterm and Final grades from Blackboard directly into INFOnline. The tool was successfully piloted in Summer 2017 by faculty teaching traditional and online courses. The tool will be available for all semester courses going forwards.|

|If I do not use Blackboard to teach my classes, can I use the ILP Integration tool?||Yes! Every course section that faculty teach has a course shell in Blackboard. You may use the ILP Integration course tool associated with your course section's shell in Blackboard even if you are not using it to teach. |Where is the tool?||The ILP Integration tool is available only in semester courses in Blackboard. It is not available to test courses or master courses. When viewing your semester course, click on the Control Panel's "Course Tools" menu and then select "ILP Integration" from the list of options. |When can we use the ILP Integration tool to assign Midterm and Final grades?||When grading is opened by the Registar's Office, plan on submitting Midterm or Final grades between the hours of 4:00 AM to 11:59 PM (Central Time). Refer to the academic calendar to see when grading becomes available.|
Because the ILP Integation tool communicates directly with INFOnline, you will not be able to submit grades when grading is unavailable in INFOnline or when INFOnline is down for regular maintenance.
|How do we use the tool?||Once the tool is available in the "Course Tools" area of a course section's "Control Panel", the instructor follows the first-time user guide instructions (see link to the right).|
The process is similar to the one you use in INFOnline to submit Midterm and Final grades. Simply select the type of grading you will perform, assign each student's grade, and click the Submit button.
|What types of grades can I enter using this tool?||You may assign letter grades (A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, U) as well as Pass (P) and Incomplete (I) grades.|
In INFOnline and Blackboard, faculty MAY NOT enter the following grades - these are NEVER entered by an instructor:
- In Progres: IP
- Audit: AU
- Withdrawn: W
- Unofficial Withdraw: UW
- No Pass: NP
|Can I enter student attendance using the ILP tool?||No. If you must report on student attendance, you must access INFOnline to do so.|
|My course shell in Blackboard is unavailable to students. Will I still be able to use the ILP Integration tool?||Yes! The course shell's availability to students has no bearing on the instructor's ability to access the shell and use the ILP tool to assign Midterm or Final grades.|
|When I access my course section in Blackboard, the ILP Integration tool is not in Course Tools. Why?||The tool might be hidden from your "Course Tools" menu. |On the ILP Integration's "Midterm Grade" and "Final Grade" screens, what is the "Current Grade" column? Where do the values in this column come from?||If you use your course shell’s Grade Center to calculate grades throughout the semester, the ILP Integration tool’s “Current Grade” column will try to display letter grades for your reference based on your Grade Center’s calculations. If you want to use this feature to support your grading, configure an external grade column for ILP to ensure that the letter grades in the “Current Grade” column accurately reflect your Grade Center.||https://goo.gl/afsVe0|
|On the ILP Integration's Final Grade screen, what is the Extension Date column?||The Extension Date column is a field that we do not use in INFOnline. Please leave fields in this column blank.|
|Why is there a delay the first time I try to use the tool?||The first time you submit a course section’s Midterm or Final grades using the ILP Integration tool, the process may take a few minutes to complete. This happens because the ILP tool is establishing a connection between Blackboard and INFOnline. Subsequent grade submissions will process faster.|
|I made a mistake! How do I change Final grades after they have been submitted?||Just as you would with a grade entered in INFOnline, you must complete a "Change of Grade Form". Faculty may request the form from their Dean and submit the completed form to the Registar's Office in S115A. For questions about this process, call the Registar at 414-297-6470.|
|When I try to submit grades through ILP, I get an "Error Communicating with Server" message. Why?||If you experience an “Error Communicating with Server” error message: |
* Make sure that you are assigning grades during the Registar's open grading period. You will not be able to submit grades using ILP or INFOnline when grading is not available. Refer to the academic calendar to determine when grading is open.
* INFOnline may be down for regular scheduled maintenance. Plan on submitting Midterm or Final grades between the hours of 4:00 AM to 11:59 PM (Central Time).
* If the error persists, report it to the Help Desk and access INFOnline directly to assign Midterm or Final grades.
|When I try to access the ILP Integration tool in my course, I see this message; "ILP Integration functionality is not available for this course." Why?||This message will appear when attempting to view the tool in test courses, personal masters, and department masters. The tool is only available to semester courses.|
|After I use the ILP Integration tool to submit Midterm or Final grades, what should I do?||If you see a confirmation message in Blackboard stating that grades were submitted, we strongly recommend checking the grades in INFOnline to verify that they have transferred over successfully and to print a copy of the grades for your records.||https://goo.gl/ftegIY|
|Supplemental Users that I added to my course with the "student" role appear in the ILP grading forms. What do I do?||If you have added supplemental users to a Blackboard course with the student role, such as tutors or interpreters, they will appear in the ILP Integration grading forms. |
Do not assign grades for these users because they are not enrolled in the course in INFOnline. If you attempt to assign a grade to a supplemental user through the ILP tool, you may see this error message "This student is not listed in course section".
If you entered a grade for a supplemental user using ILP and recieved the error message, exit and return to the ILP grading form to clear the error.
