3	The Terry Burk and Sam Case 5k is an annual Westminster Road Runners (WRRC) legacy race which honors and celebrates the memory of long-time friends and WRRC runners Terry Burk and Dr. Sam Case. The 12th running of the Burk-Case 5k occurred on Saturday April 26, 2025. This was the first time the race occurred on a mostly rainy morning. The race was once again held on what is now known as Wakefield Valley Park. Pre-race comments were provided by Lauren Case, daughter of Sam Case and Rob Burk, son of Terry Burk. Both Lauren and Rob spoke of the friendship and running times their fathers shared. Susan Case as always, served as the race’s honorary and official starter. The seventy-six 5k finishers ranged in age from 8-81 and for the first time, both a granddaughter, Meredith Ellison, of Sam Case and a grandson, Owen Burk, of Terry Burk completed the race. Race results, including overall and age-group award winners, are provided below. Thanks to Classico Pizzeria for providing coupons for a slice of pizza for all race participants and race helpers, and to Steve Moore of Run Moore for gifts for the first-place male and female winners. It should be noted that once again, the WRRC donated $1.00 per race entry to the WRRC Running Shoes Scholarship Fund, with Run Moore matching that donation.
