MATERIALS1 Build a shared platform to host a technical database, case studies and best practicesDoneLink to platform> Add library of mistakes
> Continue developing materials database and fill in the data gaps
100% CIRCULAR INPUT MATERIALS
11
2 Build a cross industry collaboration to address shared challenges such as waste managementUnderwayCarbon Fibre Circularity Alliance
Sustainable Marine Alliance
> Build Sustainable Marine Alliance membership to allow industry to tackle systemic issues
12
3 Support rule changes that encourage the use of low embodied materials for non-structural and peripheral partsUnderway
13

24
5 Develop an industry collaboration platform.DoneLink to platform> Build out SMA membership so we can continue platform development and momentum around roadmap

6 Translate key documents into multiple languagesUnderwaySee French & Italien versions. These need updating to reflect final workshop results.> Find a translation partner
26
7 Draft a list of rule changes focusing on making increased sustainability a performance factor. Suggestions for improved sustainability include
> Increase End of Life responsibility
> Inclusion of an LCA in a rating certificate
> Encourage long life cycles
> Simplify CF inputs
> Increase demand for rCF
> Increase use of alternative materials in non-sructural and peripheral parts
> Target high environmental impact areas e.g. use of moulds

8 Develop an industry standard for LCA method including and create a shared inventory of tools that meet this standard. UnderwayMarineShift360 was officially launched in April 2022 and is no available to the marine industry to assess and measure its environmental impacts. The easy to use, web-based platform follows the ISO 14040 reporting standard.
EPR for a boat is under development.
> Partnership with MS360

9 Build education and awareness of LCA and what tools and funding are available.UnderwayWebinar series planned with MS360> Webinar series with MS260
32
10 Use LCA to target rule changes at impact hot spots e.g. mouldsUnderwayIMOCA rules now require all teams to do LCA (using MS360) for all builds and parts. The results of these LCAs will inform rule decisions.
