EYB@x1=@So the 1st one I opened up
it looks like some retail thing.
and it says the typical. Why is this message in spam? It was identified as spam in the past. Report on spam, and then the contents are blank. hello@skatey.com. And I think skate is like, I think they're like swimsuits from my recollection. Okay.
but you said that email inside was blank, totally blank. Okay.
so that was the 1st one.
the second one.
Oh, here we go.
That was my fault.
The second one is.
it's it's like a fragrance brand, and they've launched a new connect, a new collection, and the images aren't loading. But the
text and text boxes are there. One of just like a grayed out. Why is this message in spam? It's similar to messages that were identified as spam in the past. And then a report, not spam button.
And then my next one is from Redfin for
Chicago home. For some reason. It looks
legitimate.
again.
Images aren't I can't tell if this is supposed to have images. It looks like it should.
And it's just a bunch of listings. Okay.
does that one have any kind of banner or warning message? Yes, the same one, the same one. Yes.
Same
banner with the air with the, you know, report, spam button, and then
it's
I'm not sure what this is.
I can't quite charge CHAR. GI feel like, I
hmm. I'm not sure I feel like this is something academic. I can't remember what, but it looks legitimate to me.
Okay, actually.
I'm not sure. At the very bottom. It says,
Facebock instead of Facebook.
Oh, that's a good question I, guess, I, gauge spam, honestly, just based on my interest in it.
And I feel like if if a company is sending out like 10 emails a day, I'm like.
I either unsubscribe, you know, I typically just unsubscribe. But so I'm glad that this one went to my spam because I think they send a lot of emails.

I guess that's what discerns like a real email versus a fake or malicious email.
and then, you know, it was igniting the sense of urgency in me. If you don't click this link. We're gonna disable. You you cannot like.
You won't be able to come back to depaul unless you and it was. It was from like a legitimate, you know, looking user?
So yeah, I guess that sense of urgency links stuff like that. if I'm
or just kind of funny verbiage, I'm like, that's not. You can just tell sometimes.
it would be
surprising to see this in my main mailbox.
I would probably
unsubscribe. Had I seen this.
I would know I'm not interested.
Usually. I think this yeah is stuff that comes through my spam is definitely
it feels like it's there for a reason. And when I take a look in my spam folder, it's
such a mishmash of
things. And
yeah, like, like advertisements that
are poorly done and stuff like that. So yeah, I I. So yes, I think
I've I've noticed, you know.
errors in my sample here.
actually my partner fell victim almost to one
like. If you'll post a listing, they'll say, Hey, I'm interested
hand. They'll respond back to say I'm interested.
I'm gonna send you 1,500. Can you just send me back 500?
And of course they like never at or they, it's like a phony 1,500. So you've just sent them 500. And so he was about to do it. But he confirmed with me.
I was like, of course, don't do that.
Oh, text text definitely, text,
spam wise. I'll sometimes get like 10 verification codes for Paypal, like someone having like my username and password. They're trying to get in, but I have 2 step verification on
and and I get text phishing
or spam all the time. Often
a surge lately of, you know.
phony job opportunities saying, you know, I'm so I'm so and so recruiter, I'm Jessica.
it's $5,000 a week reach out to this email. You know, something like that. So definitely, text has been on the rise for me.

Linkedin. The
yeah. Linkedin is funny, it it. And also Facebook marketplace. That's 1 that I have
a lot.
Pretty similar. But yeah,
I don't spend a ton of time in my spam folder.
But I I think.
yeah, pretty similar. I felt very engaged looking at it?

I guess, with
this kind of
setup but I guess when you're looking at a computer and you're going through your emails, you're kind of
doing it with a purpose. You're going. And you're opening your mail. And you're you're kind of locked into your computer. I guess, with a headset. You have
more going on, so it's easier.
It's easier to not read so thoroughly. Maybe and I know for me if I if I
sometimes I've clicked a link, and I'm like, Oh, my gosh! What was I thinking? So I think with maybe a a headset.
It's it can be
almost more
your mind can be in other places, just with how much stimulation could be going on at once, as opposed to like locking in with like a with your computer.

I mean, what could be helpful is if, when you open the browser. If.
whether the headset company implements this or Gmail, maybe, if
you know everything else, were to dim down, so it kind of places more of a focal point on your email
cause. When I was going through my emails, everything else remains like in in full focus. So I could see myself being easily distracted, you know, potentially clicking on something. So I I think if there was a way to when you arrive at Gmail.
things can maybe
dim down, or you know that focal point set that could maybe be helpful.
I've tried them a few times, just because my dad owns one and I I've used a little controller for games. But
beyond that I haven't used them for any practical reason. Okay.
and my gaming with them. It pretty minimal. But definitely.
I've tried it.

JX&.&47Rthis doesn't look any different from like doing on a computer

So I went, this email's not unsafe. But I don't recognize the email itself.
Okay? So it sounds like, I might have signed up for, like somebody's like.
Might have signed up for somebody's newsletter because I wanted there wanted like I don't know their
their their notion template or something. Oh, yeah, this is definitely. This is definitely like a just like a newsletter newsletter type. Email. I don't think this this is not an email that I think would be trying to steal my information. there is a bad says, why is this messages spam? It's similar to messages that were identified as spam in the past, and I can report as not spam if I want to. I don't.

Okay, this is this is another email where I might have accidentally signed up for something I'm trying to remember with this, I think this is something. I I think I applied for a job in this place a while ago. I don't know why I'm getting a marketing email from them. all the images are like wided out, which I think
I know that happened. I think that happens at least in in outlook when you're getting emails from places outside of the group, but I don't look at the spam enough to really know if this is some weird thing, but if it was in my inbox I would probably definitely be seeing the images in here.

Because, like, I said, a lot of it is, okay, this is this is one that sounds good.
Wait, no, this is some. This is something I signed up. I think I was trying to sign up for, but I did it.
I am. So it okay. If any of them went to like your, even if you have one in your inbox rather than your spam, that looks suspicious. I don't get a lot of emails are suspicious. So much. Okay.
actually, hold on. I think I know. See job
offer
like, I know that I've gotten a bunch of. I've not gotten like.
think, a job offers are actually spam.
Okay, so let me see if I can find one of those
position.
Okay, there we go.
remote job possibility accessible to me. There we go. This is a suspicious email. There's no banner on here. Oh, not even one, not even a banner. Okay, I had to leave my spam to be able to find this email. I blame it on, I think. There I was I I kind of blame it on Angel List, because I was recommended to apply there and then, like
I replied to a job offer. I almost fell for one of their scams. I'm pretty sure that's how they got my email. And now, like 3 million like
like job websites that I've never even been on like, now sends me like they go website, job offers. I go job offers those job lists
in this stuff.
Well, like saying that, let's say that this email ended up in my inbox. I'm actually very. I'm actually very lax when it comes to marketing things to spam, I think, like couple like a year like a couple of years ago, I was just going ham on any email that was annoying to me, and they just called it spam, because, like, I have so many unread emails. And that's just because I have. So there's like I'm like signed up for like too many stuff.not exactly cause like in my brain, I I'm thinking, yeah, it's spam. They probably block block images automatically, because, like, there's weird tech people out there who figured I had put a virus in a Png somehow. Yeah, unlimited. You want me to keep going or do.

The 1st one, the name remote job possibility accessible for me like just that alone. Okay, like, like, I already know that this is something fishy. But I'll take a look at it just in case.
And then there's the email that's like,
Sam, some
censor the rest of it, just in case@yahoo.com. Why are you sending me an email from Yahoo? If you're if you're giving me a job offer? Right?
Luckily I never I I barely ever empty out the scan, the spam folder like it's only when, like, I'm actively like thinking about cleaning out my email box, what I think about going in there and clearing it out.probably quite a few like, depend it depends. And it depends on like the the definition. If the definition is any email that's marketing and annoys me as spam, then a lot. That's how that's how I that's how I have over 10,000 unread messages.
but when it comes, for, like the scam one that I should that was talking about deal. I see them coming and I don't interact with them. Maybe I'll open it up just to be like, Hey, what's going on here? But beyond that, it's just like it. Got no okay.
there definitely needs to be more education around scams like. It's 1 of those things where you can't assume. People just know it's something you actually gotta teach. That's I. It's it's, I think, something. Why, the the Scam seminar that was happening during Career Center was had so little people.
I feel like even if we already knew it, like we still got a lot of good information about avoiding scams as well. And also why they're happening, too.
But my boyfriend was a victim of the scam text message. Those those are the tricky ones, those those they, I think, like the scammers, have become a lot smarter.
and they are. So they're stepping away. I feel like they're stepping away from emails aside from the job ones. And they're going straight for the the the text messages? Oh, wow, okay, yeah. That was an expensive mistake. He had to learn. But like I get a lot, I get a lot of them, too, and whenever I see them I I report them immediately.
Oh, good. Okay, I think the funniest ones is when the scam message, like puts everybody in group chat, though also know that scam messages aren't targeted for me. They're targeted for people who don't see that stuff. That's how that's how they got my boyfriend. But they've never gotten me on text messages.

Scams I really see as of late, is like I said, the the job. The remote job offers
and text messages. There's a lot of the up. There's like the Ups text messages.
There's the people just fishing like, Hello, hey! Who are you on my phone like cause like. If because I know I don't talk to people. I don't text people. So people are trying to figure out who I am and they're not showing up on my phone because I know I barely ever clear out my contact. I saw contact from when I was in middle school. That means I don't know them period. So I'm able to get them out
putting me in a group. Oh, yeah, there's all. Oh, yeah, there's also there's also been like, one or 2 emails on the on the
on the school email. Actually, where, like, it was definitely a scam. Let me see if I can find it. Actually.
I know that cause. It was also a group. It was also a group message. I don't remember the words. It was like.
I'm gonna keep using the word job offer, because that's the one that keeps coming up.
I thought, it is very similar to the desktop. So since I use the desktop a lot, I found that really easy. But but like, I also have video game knowledge. So I know. So like at 1st I was thrown off because I couldn't see my fingers over the overlays, but like once, but like once, I figured it out like you orally only did A for the entire thing. I don't know like
cause, like a video games when you press B, that's supposed to backtrack. But I never used BI just hit the the back button on the flying keyboard. Oh, sure, yeah. Yeah. And then the like, trigger functionality is similar to like
most controllers. Yeah. So I get so like someone who doesn't have any of that technology knowledge period, I can see them having like getting Hella thrown off with these so like I do. I liked how like I like! How had high fidelity with like where it was like, where from where you are? But I think like
even if it's like a really bad, if even if it's just on the tracking, I don't. I don't know how you would track fingers on something like that.
But
I that's a that's a challenge. But if if you, if you're able to overcome that like, that's 1 step closer to having people like you better learn how to use these to up their like experience and emails.
Yeah, and then, so a lot of people who use VR headsets are like, like your
educated in, you know, technology. And that kind of stuff. Yeah, yeah, and but there are a lot of the people that are using are like, you know, early teens, late teens, and those types of things. So are there any suggestions that you think may help somebody who's like
that age, less knowledgeable, like good with technology, but not good with not like fishing. Scammy savvy? I mean this, I mean, this option is all it feels like it's always like it could like the. It's like the easy way. But like AI,
I like just like but out in the job fair. That happened a couple of days ago. I went to a workshop with this lady, who was a recruiter, and she was talking about how to avoid scams. And like she actually had like this whole
oh, like email example. And she had us go one by one, like, what are the different red flags in this message that's cool. So like for teens.
I mean, there's 2 ways in why you turn it into a game like job simulator or like you gotta you gotta suss out with the bad emails, or like
or
in the platform. Ha! Have it be that the AI detects like certain words like in strings
and be and like, compare that to the email. And if the email doesn't match like a company, be like, Hey, hold on a second.
Okay. I mean, it won't really work as well if, like scammers figure out how to like copy an email. But at that point like, that's gonna trick, an actual job search. You're not just teenagers. So yeah, yeah, that's that's a study. Yeah, yeah, like you said, like, you noticed right away that one was for me like a Yahoo or something like that's notSo some of the issues I have. Well, it's it's the same on the computer as it is. It looks the same, the browser same on the computer as it is on the headset. But what does throw me off is like
the these I did 2 remotes, but, like I found myself only relying on one so like
I don't know if there was supposed to be like any specific features on the, on the, on the left one cause like I was, because, like, I'm kind of thinking like like like in in a PC mouse where, like left click is for selecting right click is for literally all other functions the the function. Those functions didn't come up too often when, like, I'm going through emails.
But like.
Hey, Gama, that's that's 1 thing I don't know. I don't know what we use the second remote for, but I could see it. I can see it like
I don't know, like
trash can. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah. And let's see what else?
I mean, 1st thing for me, when I'm going through email, I'm not even going through my spam. I just I just go straight to delete all spam and like the little banner on top. Oh, good. Okay. So you just get rid of it all. Yeah. Oh, yeah, so and that, and but that. But like
the issue with that is all the spam I'm seeing in my spam email or stuff I recognize for the most part.
like even with Guru, I recognize a name from like a job here a couple of years ago.
I just don't know why. I don't know how I'm getting their marketing.
but like the random spam the the actual like definitely harmful spam. When I was telling you about. That's recent. That was like, like, I think it was September 20. Second, I got that email. It was either this year, like a year or 2 ago. I didn't check the year, but like
that, they're like Gmail was not flagging that at all. So yeah, I don't know if you guys are focusing on ui, or like
figuring out how to make like a like your own. VR mail system.

Yeah, this is, this is one of them.
I did not. Oh, so it's just got an attachment. The ones with the attachments are, Hella, sus, especially, yeah, especially when it's all this. Yeah? Yeah. Cause like, you gotta also look at like who's involved in the message as well who they're trying to target. Yeah. So like, if you're in a group, if you're if you're getting put in a group chat and you don't. Oh, shit! I actually opened the document. Yeah. But
if you don't recognize the people that's in the message or the group, then that's probably also a scam, too. Yeah, yeah, if you don't know how you manage to get in with all those same people. Yeah.
excellent. Well, thank you. Yeah. They actually tried porting it to tech support. But like, I think, I think they just said, we don't do that. You go somewhere else, and I never found. I didn't send it. Oh, so I'm hoping someone else did. Right?
It also same to me, I think, only never said like this thing is heavy, like I can see myself like one if I use it for like a couple of hours, like an hour or 2 every day. I can see myself getting used to it.
but like just based on the last
10 min, like, I can already feel a pain like, Oh, no fear. Oh, I'm seeing like a weird distortion happening with that. So that's interesting. Oh, weird, yeah. Yeah. But like, it might just be because I'm not used to VR headsets. Yeah, yeah, they do take some time to get used to. I'm pretty new to them as well.
Back in 2014. That's like the 1st time I tried it, and I have not since, I think, like the one other time I use a vard or
mess with VR. Was like, when I paid like $5 to play play like one of those like
Jacob beat saber, James.

+A6YCq2ZYeah, I have one from
dental benefiting. Okay.
BCBS IL.
I have worked in security
and in bce
projects, so
it's kind of easy for me to
I will not say impossible. But it's like, not like, very easy, but easy for me to detect spam emails because I have worked on vce and how to check the dkim and
record the records as we have records and everything. And you know, and you also get like you when you read it. And if it's a spam email.
usually like hackers. So I don't think the hackers have good grammar. They have some kind of you know you you when you read it, you kind of get inside. Yeah, this is a spam email. Or this is a phishing email.

I don't know whether it's normal. People will read the email Id or the
if the email Id is correct or the domain is right or not.
because we as a cyber security guys, we usually do that right. We see the domain we see email. But I don't know about. And we see something fishing. We just click on show original and go through the spam Decam records and Demarc records and verify or not. Right?
Yeah. Normal people, I would say.
try to read the domain, at least.
and if something looks suspicious. Just search it on Google right?
That may help.
Apart from that.
I don't know
if you have a business Gmail account, then administrators can
do something on the back end. But if we have a Gmail public account, then it's difficult. Right? So
so if you're using Gmail, I think they have
pretty good service for the firewalls. They they detect spam very
like pretty accurate. I would say 90% of the time. Not nothing is 100%. So but the the the one which I was using. I think it was a browser based gmail thing, right?
and I think
Gmail is all always in browser. Right? So it's the best interface to use. Gmail is in browser, not your outlook app, or any other 3rd party apps right? And that's the best thing I mean, I have seen many emails on Gmail, which is pretty accurately marked as spam, and some which are not as well. But yeah,
recommendations. I don't know if you use Gmail on
who Browser. That's the best thing to, you know, detect spam emails or to email see if they're spam or not.
But for other
companies like outlook, I would say, use outlook.
But outlook is a bit
not user friendly. I would say, Google, Google is idiot proof. If you, if you understand right, it's it's it's made
to use easy, like it's not meant to be difficult. It makes to be easy, right? So that anyone can use it. But outlook. It's kind of, you know.
it has so many features, but it's the Ui is not that easy, but it's trying. Microsoft is trying to, you know.
Yeah, round the corners and make it all look like, you know, cartoonish, or something like that. Like, Gmail, yeah, absolutely. Yeah. So that's the thing between.
Yeah, I mean, use Gmail on Browser. That's the best interface. Use it.
I had done a Linkedin spam
fishing activity on my organization. Getting a message from my CEO
saying to click on this link for some urgent task, only like that, it was so cool like we designed the whole email in HTML. And it looked so real with his photo and all of his things. Of course we took permission from him that we are doing this activity. We only like
talk to like CEO Cfo. And Md. That only 3 people are mentioned. We are doing this.
and please don't say anything to anyone. We are just updating you so that if someone comes to you, you can just redirect them to us. And we got
we sent it to 6,000 email boxes in our organization.
Up
around 3,000 or 2,000 open there, open the email. And from that I think so, 12% or 13% click the link.
Oh, wow! 2 to 2,000 something. Yeah, that's high. That's high. Actually, yeah, that's high. So then we reach out to.
or we had an internal L and D department that designed videos and all. So reach out to them to make a sign that people can go through. You also reach out to know before for an emergency course for like 3 months, so that those 12%, or those at least 2,000 who had opened the email should go through that course.
like my mom does get lots of emails and literally call, she literally calls me all the time that
this and that. And what do I do? And I'll just delete the emails. Then just delete it. Don't. You don't respond to anything you don't use emails.
You just have an email because you have a Google phone like Android phone, the email is there just because you need to sign in with the Google account, right? Don't worry about any emails.
It's a good thing she asked you, though. Yeah, yeah. She asked me every time if she's
I think so. She also got a message from Bank. But that's not related to email. I know.
saying that
something about the money
and she just called me like, what should I do? What should I do? Nothing. Delete message. Your bank will not ask you to do it like this. Yeah, yeah. Teaching people.
So if you can see my spam, it's I think they're legit companies. But I think they are getting in spam easy. It's automatically. I'm not certain because it's Gmail public, right? So I cannot do that. So I don't know. Apart from that, I also get spam on my
defaults. Address from Robert Manuel President, like today, I got some email saying, I know it's fake. But I need to schedule a interview with you for some scholarship, something like that. So just click on this link schedule. I think I have it.
Yeah, yeah, I got like couple of emails from his name.
And the email addresses was gmail.com or robot manual. So and so and so I I know it's spam, but not reach me.

I think if you delete junk it goes to deleted, or it just gets deleted.
it gets deleted. So I don't have the email for you. But yeah, I got like couple of emails, maybe 4 or 3 emails saying robot manual saying, to like, interact with me on something and just click on something, or just to send some me some information about my
phone number or something like that.
Also, I got an email from someone in depot on my personal
spam
saying that my fees is not paid, and I have to pay
by clicking on this link.
Oh, but I know this is spam on my personal. How did they know that I was? I mean, it's they can know I'm in default. But right?
Yeah, by Linkedin or any of this.
We are headsets, I think of gaming. I don't think of productivity or checking your emails, or like working, wearing of your headsets. So that's not a
like that's not a normal for me to understand. Right? I mean, headsets are like either to game or to for entertainment, right? Like to watch movies, or like shows or something.
but not for productivity. If you wear it for a long time it will be uncomfortable on your nose. eah.
yes, because the technology is not so refined. I think
I see if we will keep on improving it, and the end product, like the ironman glasses wear it, and Friday.
So right now I don't think I can wait for a long time for a productive
thing like for 2 h or 3 h, working.
checking emails, documents, and all of those things right. And also we are so used to, you know, typing on keyboards and laptops for work. So I don't know how we'll be
like in productivity. You see, you reply to emails, you work on documents. So and so, right? So that's the productivity goes. But I don't know.

4*J%TvhRI got aws. Verification code. managing this message are hidden.
So it's suspicious. At my 1st glance it looks genuine, does it? Okay? Yeah, it looks genuine. But
there is a little bit pop up message underneath that big aws screen image. So it looks like suspicious inside
as per that follow up.
So basically,
my name doesn't mention that mail. So one of the major reason I I guess it's it might be scamp or another is like advertisement. Some of the advertised
yeah, like,
that email comes from unwanted websites
which I didn't register ever. So
this looks like spam mails.
And
yeah, mostly advertisements.
like 3 out of 10Pretty good for you
generally I do that.
Not facing scam, but somebody create dummy accounts.
Hmm, yeah. Okay. And they try to scam on friends. Oh, no. Like in an impersonation of you. Yeah. Oh, no. Okay, like
almost a year ago, with somebody create my uncle's spam account.
And he tried to.
He demanded me some money
like he required, urgently.
I like that. one of the my one of my friend. He got like fish emails even. I got fish emails, too.
from taking my default event.
And my Gmail, too. But
I figured it out, is busy.
like in social media? I have lots of. I got lots of messages
like, I have so many followers in Instagram.
so many people try to scan me. Oh, no, okay.
are they like, what kind of
in Instagram, in Facebook, actually, yeah, in Instagram. Actually, I got verified. like someone
the sponsor mails like we give you sponsorship like this kind of and that kind of.
But I'm not interested in that. So I never responded yet.

$tqFLL2$No, it was just like a advertisement, for like an event in Chicago It's just like an image
promoting
a wine tasting. And it's just like one big image pretty much with that like sign up links and
the date.
Okay?
But there's like the. I don't know if this you're talking about this or the Banner
report, not spam from Google. But that's just not part of the email. That's just like, Google's. I mean, I guess. Yeah, cause I don't even know. So I don't even remember signing up for this. So yeah, I guess it. I would say, it's spam I mean, a lot of them are like pretty much the same thing like both. I'll go to the next one.
Well, the next one, I guess I'd say the next one is just ticketmaster.
this might be more fishing. I don't know if this is really ticketmaster or not. I mean, it could be
the game, master, but it's just so says
something like promotion going to Las Vegas.
I mean, I use ticketmaster like, I mean.
this is like an unusual email for ticketmaster. Right? So like I off top my head. I'll see ticketmaster emails in my regular inbox. But this is like not usual.
So I guess that is like spam. Why, this is this message in spam, similar to messages that were identified as spam in the past.
the next one.
See?
It's just a concert
venue that I just got a ticket for like a few weeks ago. So I mean.
it's not really spam. Well, I did sign up for this, so it's not really spam, but it let me see if it has the same message.
and then
another one from the same
sender of the event. Does the wine tasting. Next one is Chicago Theater
concert, venue
like a newsletter
the same wine sender.
There is 1. 0, before I do that, there is
One thing in my spam
that is like a random email like
like just a fishing thing like
my hope.
I don't remember seeing this
like asking for money, like one of those like
charitable projects.
I was diagnosed with cancer.
My husband was assassinated by gunmen. Oh, okay, that's an interesting one, and that's just the start of it. And then
just something like that which is not obviously spam.
But is it just like the over the topness that like makes it seem like spam? Or are there other red flags to you personally.
sure, yeah, just don't click on anything. Yeah, there's links. Yeah.
yeah, just what is I want to entrust 17.5 donation to you for a charitable project for you to handle the project that will have broken English.
And this is the severity of it. And what they're asking is like so random and like the emails, like
everything like the the but
the address that
that's sending. It is weird. Everything. So the same banner message.
Okay, those are all the types of things in my
spam.
That was only one. There's only like 10. The rest of them were just promotions, really.

Well, like considered to be spam like is that, could that be like advertisements you don't want? Or is it like phishing? It's kind of yeah, up to what you think. So, yeah, so like, everybody's definition of spam is a little bit different. So
it would be kind of what you define as spam. So if you feel like marketing material that you signed up for isn't bookmark material that you didn't sign up for? It is kind of thing. Yeah, everybody's a little bit different on
I guess. So. What was the question like, what do you look for when you're going through your inbox. Yeah, it makes you decide something that is spam to you. Well, to me, what is spam is doesn't happen that frequently the messages like that I talked about earlier, like phishing, or that severe
case
of like, I'm in danger. I need money, or I'll loan you money, or you randomly want to give away like things like that. I would consider spam, but not already reported by Google, or whatever email I'm using
additionally.
like
some things I just may have signed up like on this email or my other email I use mostly I've had them for many years, and I signed up for many like promotions, or just like magazines or newsletters
that I'm not interested in anymore. And I would say, sometimes those are spam if I put it
a lot of times if I notice that I would just unsubscribe.
So that's like one way, I would manage that like unwanted promotional materials, because I don't want to consider every promotional material
spam. I mean, I go to a lot of concerts
and like events like that. So you know, a lot of times you have to sign up.
Each one is like a different place to buy ticket. You sign up to their platform like ticketmaster, or whatever
all those websites, some through directly through the venue. Anything like that, so
that could cause like a lot of spam of like. This event's happened. This event's happening so
stuff like that. It's mostly what I in my email.
So that's how recognize spam, or acknowledge when going through my inbox
I'm in my regular inbox now. Anything spammy or unusual in there.
I mean.
this is like the email I use mostly. Now, I have multiple, like email accounts, obviously with different things. But this is like pretty much. My main general general. One has a little bit of everything in it, and nothing really
spam. He just
promotions and like things like
the Paul Course card like receipts for stuff, things like that, like
applications or
jobs internships.
It's nothing like
it's pretty much this I meant. I look at this one
a lot, and there's nothing that much spam.
it seems
like it sorts pretty well

Well, it's just interesting that some of these things like, well, I don't like on Gmail. There's like a promotions tab and like social media tab like. Why, some of these things are considered promotion. Some of those are spam, because, like, I have, like ticketmaster promotions in my promotions thing, but some of them that like that one was considered
spam.

I mean, I've probably only got a handful of like.
and for the last few years. I can remember those emails that are like.
obviously like the one I brought up like, I'm in danger. And I'm loaning you 17 million dollars
like in my life. But every time it's been in spam like, pretty much so like.
I mean.
I would say, Google does like
a a good job
like.
cause. It doesn't know that
maybe, like these promotions that I think are spam are not spam because they're not like harmful. They're just promotions, but
a lot of time. More recently, I don't know when they added it. There's the promotion section
of Google, so that just filters everything into that. So that. Let's not
in the spam folder, but it puts it in the promotions. So I I would say, like in my busier inboxes, where I have use it for multiple things
that it filters it pretty well.
job internship.
I guess, is like formal fishing training.
maybe I don't know the full story, but
there was something with my grandfather
I don't know. I don't know if it was phishing.
but it was something because I didn't. They didn't. I don't know all the details.
So I mean.
besides that, I don't really
I don't. I couldn't pinpoint a certain thing. But
okay, it was quite a while ago.
Text, I mean a common one
for a lot of people I know, or at least me is like your usps. Packages like
not been like delivered, or something like that, like, even if you never ordered anything, it will come up like to my parents, or something like that, or friends
like faking the Usps site, or whatever things like that.
or just
still get a random text from a phone number saying, like, you're this person or that. I'm this person, or
I know you from this or some trick to
get you. And then, I guess social media. They do pretty good. They do like those Twitter or Instagram.
There's like these bought accounts that are just going into your d like Crypto, or any other things like that.

No, but and I mean but they like filter it like
both, like
messages. From accounts you don't follow, then it's like
they would have like a warning most of the time, knowing like at least, I think, on Twitter
with the crypto ones, but also like there's like random Instagram accounts that would DM you.
I was like pretending to be like catfish. Basically.
well, I guess since I'm I don't really use. VR,
I
we was just getting used to it like pointing to type. So I guess I mean viewing it wasn't really as
pretty much the same. But typing is slower. I don't know if you use people faster with typing instead of like a keyboard, like logging in or
searching in the search bar
to look for certain email might take longer. But just viewing
the emails and going through like
going through going through them was like saying
experience as like a laptop or phone.
I guess the joystick was pretty handy when just scrolling.
Okay.
when you were going through there like
what? I guess? Not necessarily even on the headset.
well, one thing I don't know if it's really would relate to the headset
or not.
This could be like a thing with Google. I know they do with like Google photos with like.
I'm just trying to like, think out loud. They like
do like it recognizes faces. And it puts it to a person you'd be like, is this person? This is this you? And then you say, yes, and it shows another picture. Is this, yes or no, like
on Google, or like a VR thing, if it's like incorporated somehow with some app, maybe like they have their own
email like, there could be something made that would go through. Let you like that would go software that can be made to go through your emails. And and it would like, take a bunch of emails that are think they're spam. And it'll ask you, is this spam?
Yes or no?
And then you could like train it to better filter out what
is spam or not. So like you could just go through 10 emails that would think it's spam
in the future. We'll know not whether or not to put those in spam or not.

+29Ct#PxNo, I think it's just a normal advertisement email for micro sender.
Yeah. So I think it's the email is, look legit
with the his name above the ad, and after the ad, also, they have their own
micro center emails in there.
Yeah. So I think it's also just asking me whether is I want to give in this email to be at the inbox, or whether is you want? I want to keep it as a spam
option. Yeah.
I think it should want to be in my spam because I since I bought it product with them, and I know which one should report. So I don't want to see a lot advertisement on my like, my actual inbox. Okay? So I just want to hide it inside my spam.
So the second one in spam is
it's about the new layer newsletter about the one company that they post
like each and every weeks
about how the product is look like and how
how functional their products. So in this like
sick law
products, where they introduce about cloud data security in Europe. Just.
And what is the top desk in this October?
And yeah, so I'm looking at the email right now.
so there's the email that is sending me. I think it's quite. You still look legit so there's before the app will be info at at the company names.com, which is, look simply, it looks similar. Look like that.
It looked
like how the actual lecture email supposed to be okay, Oh, no, there's no warning there. So it's just asking me whether.
oh.
so it asking me, whether this one is spam email. So because it used to be, it used to sending me
previously, and they
the Google email. But if the Gmail was say, that was a categorizes as a spam email, so they just
put it and filter in that spam section.
I don't see much in my inbox right now.
Mostly it's just either advertisement or
there's an advertisement about the new products that they have. They want to introduce me to
like trying to
give me a a hint that they having a good deal or either
there was something about the product, mostly because I I because I doing network recently. So
most of the company they have my email. And then they keep sending me
often.

Yeah. So
so as of one person like, for example, if there is a job
phishing email. I would see
Witter
that heading. I was, check the email first.st So after I check the emails, I will check.
How's the heading is? Look like?
So make them. No, I said, No.
the subject section how it written.
He didn't it?
We will written properly in capitalize in the 1st
what
and ending, and keep the correct grammar
grammar in there. That will be the 1st thing I at the second thing I check. And the second thing that I the 3rd thing that I check is that
we assisted Aos
for example, I know people cause you know I work in depot
in the Cdm, so I know with Professor, like the way they answer the email, and
how they how they all normally put their names in there, for example, if they will start with a bit near or high.
and then put it up, their names and all we end up, not with.
they say, Hi! To say Hi! Or late.
dear to my names.
and ending with best required like best
with their name at the bottom.
I think that's the 3rd one. The
the last one I think I check is like how they structure their writing, they added, answering.
like Do I have? Do they do I send like? Did I send them something and then respond for that? Or they just sending me
you meet like directly, without any emails that I
did send previously so like the one that you got that that one that's the new that like sending directly to me and could spot it out that that it was a
people that trying to phishing me and trying to
attract me with good words like.
Please do something as what they said.
oh.
this is a very valuable thing set
you could earn for free, and we don't have to pay anythings.
Oh.
there is a
new job being deported.
We expect to hire a lot of students, and especially, I think that's still who would be
I'll see, would
higher gen like student
who has the higher chance click on. It is a student that doesn't have a job yet.
and people that is hungry for Jobland.
All of a sudden they they was.
They was hired all of a sudden, and they were saying that, oh, you get a chance to get this job at school.
even though they haven't interviewed before
and
since in as International, we, we also have a struggle to find a job in on campus, if we're also very competitive. So I think not easy for students to get it in. But
yeah, so that's anything that
that
how I say, they know how
they know the demands of the client, or like the victim that they're trying to send it to, and they trying to hunt to that keywords and attracting just
if one click beat.
is it?
They would get the flow of
what they need to extend the
to extend the extend further in the exploitation.
But I think, yeah, I think so far is that I don't see much spam in my and no, not spam
like phishing email inside my spam and everything.
I think it's mostly
for
for my own personal email. I didn't see much better in spam, or rather inbox.
but for
my deploy email and mostly seen they directly send it to me
to the Inbox section.
whereas in spam email, I didn't see much.
So it's late.
It can go directly to the filtering.
and I will actually receive it directly from the inbox. And since I
since since before using outlook in room
for the emails, they always have a notification it immediately. I think I can show you a bit about how
at the end.
Yeah, because I am. And just because I I recently applied for job interview. So I think just in case I always check my emails
together with my inbox, because in case
that some
sometime that
outlooks just recognize it as a a spam email or like advertisement. So they didn't send me directly to the inbox
this filter inside my spam, and it just hidden in there so as a habit I have since I I get an interview, and
after I getting a job in after my bachelor's, always have that habit of checking both side in case there was something important sent to me, so that they say it could save me or like it's preventing me. And I'm supposing that
I don't want to be late in something or lack of prepare or something. So I,
in case I didn't receive the email, I have to prepare for it. Yeah in advance.
I think.
do what happened.
Great good filters, things to help me.
Then you receive a
can do extra.
Yeah.
No, I think I don't think I don't have much. But cause I I used to have experience with SEO
marketing before. So I know that kind of
how would we attract people
on marketing to do like, yeah, like what
certain phrase or what certain words
that could
bring
the company website of company
Link to be at the top search, either Google or at any search engine. But the thing is that Google is like
the common search engine that people will come to.
Yeah. So I I know, cause I have experience, and I know, how could I attract people? And how could I
kind of like
persuade people to
to be on me? And that's why I I think that would benefit me. Understand
the people
for that. Just selling meetings of people who just fishing me.
I mean.
that's all, my friend.
I think she I don't know how much whether she losing money or not, but I think she
she did click on the
like what I say. She she was finding Job, and there's people who
say that they have free stuff
to hold, to, to fall, to collect it, and to get a job. And then he she just click it.
Yeah, just I just knew
about Cnc
coming for like the meal with depot events with this.
the faculty in in the school. So I get to know about it. Yeah. So I did.
I just share that
this isn't
the idea shared. I didn't share how myself
categorize which one is
the advertisement which one is the
good email which one is the
the phishing email. And
like she could give me a talk. You never see me. They gave a contact, my contact to her, and
she could definitely give me a
a message when she needed.
Okay?
And so I think, cause I I doing cyber security
major as I,
I have. No.
yeah, I'm quite sensitive about it. And I want I I also need to know that to work.
That's what I think.
As I've seen in cyber.
And I also heard from my friend, who who study
Dr. Philippo's class, I think.
like 7 to 8%
people who get a technical exploit since the beginning is always come from phishing.
like, over being affected by phishing tools, the emails
or phones or like messages. Yeah, I think messages is.
is this similar as
email. Yeah, I think it's
it's easier for people. And
yeah, I think
that is the kind of phrase that
I've seen so far.
And I did experience some of fishing involved that I've seen so far since I study in winter.
I see a lot of phishing email drop in to student emails. And this is pretty simple, but it's still people.
but still all certainly still click on it
because of, I think most of the
50% of it I saw it was the fishing for Job, or like the opportunity to gaining some things like free stuff
free job, or like opening job that they successfully landed.
But even though they have, they haven't interviewed for it.
So I think that's the case that I've seen. So I think I still submitted some of it in my
emails. But yeah, nothing like that. That is the most.

Yes, for social media, I did see some phishing email threader
Instagram or face like Facebook, like messenger from Facebook,
where there was a
I will see
close environment like telegram where people fishing professionally in there. And they they're selling, and they're buying sensitive information in there and like people wouldn't click track on it because
it not
base in us is based in
in Russia by the very talent factor. Yeah, who I know is just caught up by the French police. And
yeah, and they they now take advantage of what he done and what he did to it.
To know where is that criminal is like tracking the IP of the criminal that they they're trying to call.

Yeah, I think for Linkedin. Mostly it doesn't about. I think it doesn't
not much for fishing, but it's just like
it was a cold term, but it's like
like a job scam. I think it's better. Personally, it's just like people.
They create a fake job.
anything.
or it could consider as fishing. But it's just like a fake job
posting. They track us.
and they say that. Oh, I look at your profile, you could definitely admit.
But if they didn't send me
or legitimate
website link, or like the job posting links, I would identify as a phishing email. And if I always check.
where is come from the companies?
Whether it's confirm, is it? Whether it's a VPN
like a client we call it clientless VPN ways attached directly to the website
and without the VPN, we just click on it. And it's just VPN
direct to the server. And so I think it's that were the 2 things that I check, and I will also check whether it's come from a good domain like.com.edu, or like dot depot, for example. So I don't see that it's already
good source that I should click on by from a company that
that they advertise me whether it's a copy of that company's, or
that would
be chosen to click on it.
Otherwise I wouldn't click on that kind of email.

The thing is
what we do with cyber is that
If people who doesn't know
how phishing email look like, or
our phishing emails
like how example of the phishing email.
because, like, there was variety of them, the wide variety of really doing fishing. So I think it's we have been a checklist
for that, for example, like what I say.
and
these are things that you shouldn't look at first, st these things that is supposed to look at second and 3rd like for what I what I say is.
and we look at the email. And then we look at the subject line. And then I look at the
who who like the pip, like
the personal information of people who's sending me. And
last year I checked out
the contents of the email. How are they written, are they?
If they are
English spoken?
Are they actually writing in proper English? Are they writing
like mess in a bad grammarly people? So I would identify that.
Yeah. So I think the checklist would help that suitably
who
do not come from the cyber security
to understand it. Easier. Yeah.
awesome. Thank you?
So that's actually all the formal questions I have for you today. For part of the study. Did you have anything else you wanted to add on the topic.
yeah, so
hmm.
so
So I kind of know some of it, but I don't know. How is it useful for this experience?80% are using the phones to get for the immediate.
the action.
whereas 30% or the rest is at checking with laptop and handling.
I would say, email writing and email respond for people.

5$@FxWFXYes. So it's alright. So actually, this is the 1st one.
Do you know, the Duckduckgo user? Yeah. So I actually, my Google email is linked to
my my email.
with dot dot go. So
the reason some of these emails this is like, Do 3, 1, 2, the Chicago.
like through like event. Oh, yeah.
Promotion Company. But
I don't. It might be because this is going to my app, doc.com email. And then sometimes Google sends it to the spam.
But I like, I think, when I signed up for this years ago, I used my duck.com email because it was like a weird promotion
like 2, 3, 1, 2,
but yeah, the banner, it says, is, why is this message in spam report, not spam, and then
duck, dot go always has these. It says Duckduckgo. Remove trackers from Google.
and 2 others report spam and Duckduck go.
But yeah, it looks. This looks the same as what you would see on a desktop.
so I did sign up for this like a long time ago. But so this is me
signing up with my Doc email. So
I think it's probably in here because
I don't, I ignore it. Okay.
so are you, I guess.
unicorn world. This was I signed up for this long time as a joke to myself, but there was
at Navy Pier. There was like a unicorn festival
like a weird. I don't know. But
yeah, I did sign up for this
a long time ago.
So some like fear. Navy, Pierre
cool. I probably never took
my email off, but it has the normal.
Why is this message in spam?
But this is something I did sign up, for I'm I'm glad it is going to spam. But yeah, so more of like, just marketing email again. Yeah.
next one is
subterranean, which is a venue in Chicago.
like concert venue. I'm happy. This goes to spam because I don't
right, Mike.
All this is like promotion stuff.
Okay, cool.
I occasionally delete my spam to like once every 2 months, or once a month.

There's sometimes it's like missing a letter in the email like, it's Spoof email spoofing.
sometimes I know I like, I unsubscribe myself. And I'm still getting
the email somehow.
we can go in the realm of
there could be like some weird
VR, not VR, but like vm, like. So if if everything is just hacked
and like, I'm looking at a virtual machine, and it's really not my real inbox.
But that's that's the yeah.
What else? Oh, I have labels on my gmail like updates, promotions.
you know.
jobs in labels. So there is like labels.
Yeah.I scroll for like 10 seconds. I'm like, yep, Delete, all. Okay. Yeah. But I do have like 73 spam messages.
And it's just the same promotion
Chicago companies that
I've been on
No, I'll compared to outlook. I really started using outlook like the past couple of years. Outlooks way. Better for
shortage bound, I think. Okay.
that's that. That's yeah. Yeah. That's good to know. That looks way. Better.
Okay, just the accuracy percentage is higher with them.
No, I'm learning about. I've learned about it in. Like every single class I took.
I know what fishing is. There's different types types of fishing, but
no like
when it comes to strictly like big it like
network security engineer
cyber analyst jobs. I have never officially had one of those yet that will be
coming in like the next 6 to 8 months.
NoI deleted all social media.
not Facebook. I still have Facebook, for you know
this purpose. But
or like I. I view live events on Facebook. But I actually deleted all social media 3 years ago.
because
it's just like a distraction. So, but I have Facebook, but I don't. It's just on my phone, but I don't use it.
I was addicted to tick, tock for like a few years, because I downloaded in 2018 before a lot of people.
our age.
But yeah, I've so that answer doesn't really apply. Because I I'm just A youtuber and twitch no more social media for me.
Yeah, cause I time goes by quick. I don't. I? I feel like
anything over like 2 HA day is like, you're just losing valuable life.
I mean, I'm I'm a really fast typer.
always have been.
And like, I got my 1st computer in my bedroom by my dad, and like
95 96,
so I'm really good at computers. So
it's hard to beat a computer.
Yeah, yeah, especially with the point and
click, yeah, I can. You know, I can just control a new tab.
you know, type in the mail tap down.
You know, it's
yeah, plus, I'm computer. Savvy? So
did it seem any harder to tell if something was spam or not on there?
No, no, okay.
So it's like, I'm I'm looking at my virtual PC screen.
Right?
the the question. Yeah, there could be a way, probably through
AI and some
advanced coding that
a little notification
could pop up.
you know, like a
a flash or something, maybe. Yeah, that's it. Would. That would be more
useful than like having something pop up on my laptop.
I think it's good for for productivity, though.
so I guess sort of same answer, too, is
we see what when I, as a student, when I played video games.
maybe like I'm re-listening to my class
on audio in the video, emailing is down. And I'm just re-listening to the lecture. But I can like control, tab and go back to my word document while I think of what to write, or I'm taking a break. And then I control tab back to my.
you know, multiplayer online video game
but doing the same thing
I would
to me, it's more of a visual experience of
it looks.
It looks cooler with the
to to see the headset. My screen, especially video games. Cool? Yeah, yeah, definitely. So
yeah, it's more, it's much more immersive.
It's actually like, be in that. Yeah, I totally get that
cool.
I mean, the answer is just never click on anything. I don't know.back in like 2022.
I didn't. I realized I didn't use that much, because,
they really don't have a lot of options except for gaming like weird games like, I'm more like a computer gamer like legal legends, or you know, Warcraft. But
yeah, so I didn't have it for that long. I sold it.
didn't buy a quest 3 also. Then fast forward to 2023. A year later I started the Paul
as a full time grad student, and then
for it's basically like just related to time management
is. And my money, like, I'm just, I just pay my rents, phone bills, food.
And I'm just studying. And I'm trying to get out of Chicago. So
yeah, I but I will eventually buy the vision pro, I already made that decision like eventually, maybe like.
yeah, I have outlook.
Gene. To be honest, I I have
the apple mail app
Gmail and Outlook.
and I have, like my Gmail. And I have my student to Paul. Mail
for different, mainly. Depaul is just all my school stuff or
resume job, you know events. But I
as a student.
it's I use outlook with depaul mail, and Gmail is just, you know, exists before depaul. But
it's all pretty even. I'm pretty much on my laptop a lot as a student
the past
a year and a half.

z^1chT%!I can see Google saying, this might be a spam. Do you want to report?
Followed by the images written
all the content? Everything is written. I think this is fairly a content image.
and they're asking me to
enroll into something.
I just open
the second email on my list. Okay.
yeah. Google says, this could be a spam. And there's a bunch of text
in the text is.
Let me 1st read off the title. It says, high quality clothing, manufacture from Hong Kong.
Now know to use that, and then that works.
Yeah. And it lacked everything as such.
yeah, it's I definitely feel that's a spam. They're asking me to connect with them with some bunch of number@therateqq.com. I don't know. I never come across that. And there is some changes below that. Oh, interesting.
There is another single email I just open. And I don't even remember if I have
signed up for something like this.
Let's see this
alrighty before something.
And there's a billing
real quick. Explain it, too.
and does not feel like spam or marketing. That's I. I definitely feel spam. I never. I don't even know if I have signed up for that.
Alright.
Let me read the text what they're trying to see.
You know. They're trying to sell something. I mean.
bye.
the email order I see here. It kind of
makes me feel sad.
I only see the information from the person who I received.
also that it's all bunch of
random text and update some domain.

I don't know if it is Chinese or Hong Kong text as like scheduled.
I didn't enroll to any of that stuff.
but there are mails over there, so I should be a little more careful. But Google says, Google recommends this could be a spam.
But maybe they could have done highlighting color like they used to do for some sort of emails. Right? This is definitely a spam.
Be careful when you're doing something. This. So then I might be a little more keen with what I'm looking at and what I am doing
instead of
that thing I felt until and unless I reached out to the bottom of the mail. I didn't feel that I have to be careful. It just says this could be a spam. Then I was like, Okay, let me go through. And when I saw that scary things at the bottom, I was like, Oh, my God.
yeah, I should have like I just need to reach if I didn't do something right? So maybe there could be a little different way. How that could be represented.
sometimes.
and sometimes a few of my important mails just go on land and spam.
So companies keep asking.
Could you just check your spam. Maybe our mail just got into there. I don't know why that happens very often.
Back in my days it used to happen a lot.
Even if let's say, small businesses. They wanted to
start with digital stuff, e-commerces and all they would be sending.
Or maybe transactional emails or auto confirmation emails, Google always things that that could be a spam and that would be pushing the spam folder. People might often miss them.
Especially it happened with me.
So I need to check my spam and say, Okay, this is not the spam.
Yeah.
And then again, the second time, it does the same from the same domain.
I don't believe it happens.
Yes.
yeah. And once, if Google takes that particular company could be a spam kind of thing for every person, it says that could be a spam.
I don't know. And if that didn't happen, let's say, if
email doesn't go to spam for me, there are very detail and very little changes that that could go into your spam folder email is being sent to you from that particular email.
I deleted all social media.
not Facebook.
I might not
use to check out my email so much. See? If
if I'm using this as my productivity tool, everyday tool
have to wear it all the time.
As I mentioned very recently I brought one for myself, and the 1st 10 min of my use.
I felt all the fuzziness pain in my eyes. Touch.
but still there.
and I removed. I have to remove the headset immediately to do something to my eyes. Relax. And then, okay, I get some time. And
I mean, I was able to use for 30 min right the second time. So if I have to keep doing that.
maybe there might be
an application which is specifically designed for this kind of space. So I don't feel all the usual collector
brightness or the the screens which I'm looking at.
which is more optimized for that.
And the one moment so far, I didn't check any emails on virtual reality. This would be my 1st time. And the 1st immediate thing, I observed, is
So I was checking on the elements how that
I mean how I can access.
I don't often check my spam folder, and
keeping that that way.
I'm not sure if all the colors I mean, if the links, whichever I'm seeing, I'm not clicking on them by mistake, that happens very often, right? You might be looking somewhere, and
you all know you just click on something.
and I don't want that to be happened. I want to make sure and
going on right thing, at least on
vision pro itself. You might be looking at that and tapping on, but on the meta headset.
I I if there is a lot of space that I could miss click on something maybe. Let's say, I just want to drop my.
what do you see this controller at the bottom? And that could relate to a display?

31H@5R#unot necessarily.
It's just. I have no idea how this ended up there. That's pretty much it. I gotta see what
or it's open.
Yeah, it's kind of just like a
select. Add the advertising. There you go.
Just
recommendations for Halloween.
So it's from the same
email domain
from somebody else.
But
oh.
it's a very similar thing. Just kind of
sort of like raising awareness, or, you know, informing me about certain events.
yeah, once again, it's another sort of advertising thing. I don't know how legit it is, but
there's something that seems to add in order.
It's also from the same domain. So different
person.
I definitely look at the sender and like the domain is coming from like email domain.
Also
a a lot of the phishing. The Spam emails sort of trying to establish urgency
by saying that something happened, even though it didn't happen like
they try to get you to click or log in. It's like a fake site or whatever. But
yeah, I mean.
so a lot a lot of those things. And it's just sometimes it's really unprofessional. It's very
you know, just
plain text, no design or no
sort of.
you know the way other companies would have a lot more professional emails.
So I definitely check the links. I try not to click on them, because
there's still cyber attacks that can happen from just clicking the link. But
yeah, I usually check to see how legit it is.
and
usually like, especially if it's a bank
phishing email, something like that. I just go
like log into the bank on my own. I don't. I tend not to click the links if, like this only happened once, ever, like I logged into chase like from a browser, instead of clicking on the link.
Oh, I have not. I think so. I mean, I'm pretty sure Gmail has the feature where it's like when you start sending things to spam. It sort of learns along the way. And kinda
you know, categorizes those emails into spam when they see what you're putting in there. So from my experience I'd say it's doing a pretty good job. But I'm still getting a lot of emails that I don't want necessarily.
Oh, I have not. Aside from what I learned at school. Yeah, no, I've I've done like a phishing campaign where, like, I was the one doing the phishing as a test for the class that
for the engineering social engineering class. But other than that, I I haven't been on the other end.
Well, I tried getting my family just like my dad. He like asked me about it. He came getting this email
from. I think I sent him like a fake chase email.
He's like, What is this? And I'm surprised it actually got through. I didn't think it would get through into his like negative marks.
But yeah, that's cool that he asked you, though. Yeah, yeah. Cause I'm the tech guy at home.
I'm getting a bunch of election emails.
So I don't know how to get rid of it. I mean, I was googling it. But
yeah, yeah, I don't find a good way, either.
Yeah. Cause it seems like, every time I I like, respond, stop, then I get it from a different phone number. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't seem to be helping anything.
o the main thing that I noticed right away is that
like, I was shaking a lot when I was trying to
like click the little buttons to go to the next email, for example, like I was clicking the next arrow. I was having a hard time kinda
pinpoint it, you know, but like it was like, it's like, really it was. It was shaking a lot. I don't know if that's just because my hands are kind of shaky, or if other people deal with that. But that was pretty much the main difficulty. While I was trying to navigate through all this. Yeah, yeah, like, I almost clicked like, 3 times
random other buttons out there. But
yeah, that was the main problem that I was trying to deal with.
I mean, honestly, I just think people
should
trying to be more aware of it that it's having, because fishing is getting so much better.
especially, you know, in 2024 with AI. Now it's it's getting really good. So I just think it wouldn't hurt for people to learn a little bit more about how to prevent themselves from being targets
and for falling through fishing attacks.
I've used it a few times. I don't personally own one, although I wanted to get one. But I've used it a few times.

d?4^$FsOI don't have any
nothing in your spam.
o any email that makes me do some work immediately, or there's a sense of emergency in the text. That's that fact for me, because there's no company or not. No email from my bank that tells me to do something on an urgent basis.Yeah, it's
I need to like, activate one of my plan.
And I don't think I even like start building that website
in Hawaii. Yeah, there are like promotional. they just say that they are sponsored.
So one thing I would say that I have been doing like,
I go through all my emails weekly. And I make sure that all the spam for all these spam emails and all my junk is emptied like on a weekly basis. And I make sure that there are a few emails that are important. But they go into like the other folder and make sure that they are into my important folder. So that next time he's sending an email from that same person gets into the important folder.
So I make sure that all my emails are according to the folder, the one that is important should be like Google should get a sense of like this. Guys.
Emails are important for him. Yeah. And all the promotional emails are just delete on weekly basis.
Yeah, most of the times it does a really good job.NoI have no
shopping app on which I would buy like
electronics all your clothes at a cheaper price. So I made up a mistake of adding my debit card to that application as by default. So, and I had a transaction of like $100 that was done in New York.
So then I reported that to my bank immediately, and then they blocked my card, and finally I got that transaction disputed, and I got my transaction back. But one of the drawback that I
and ordered that through like.
avoid using those sort of applications or website where they're using your card by default
and don't go for cheap things.
So just recently, I got a call from a employee who says that he's from the United States Health Department.
and he is collecting all the information of the Us. Citizens.
And I like laughed for a second. I'm an international student. I'm not a citizen yet. Right? And he's saying that I'm citizen and give my information. I was like, Okay, just hold on.
I mean, all we did was access Gmail through the website, right?
I don't. I don't know. Maybe more training. I I maybe if Gmail did their own training.
you know, cause like I know they, Paul, does their own training. Once you report it, I'll be like, oh, we successfully reported a spam.
urprisingly, typing was easy. But it's I feel like it's still not 100 there.

Seems like,
yeah, it's a it's a it's a
I think it's
like spam about a job offer.
it's like
some random person's name at a Gmail account. It doesn't seem to be associated with a company.
It there is literally nothing in the.
There's no text. It's just an attachment of a doc.
The attachment. This message was identified as junk. The attachments on this message have been blocked for your safety.
o this the next one is
cause I'm in my other classes.
introduction to Len. And this is
an email, that outlook identified as spam. And it was a quest, a request for my password reset.
Oh, so should that one have Ben Spam.
No, I don't think it should have been spammed. It was
incorrectly identified as junk, but I mean it was not identified as junk. I don't think it was junk.
Yeah, it says you don't.
I mean, it's unified.
This message was identified as Junk
said. I can have an option to select. It's not junk or show block content and enable links.
and also says, you don't often get email from no reply at net.
Yeah, the next 2 ones are the same, because
I kept trying to reset the password. But yeah, if it was going to your junk. That's not very helpful. Yeah. So
next one is identify as junk mail
from storage scholars.
It's it knows I'm at depaul at once.
Oh, it wants. It's like advertisement about shipping, shipping things to your new dorm or apartment for the school year.
It's called us. Yeah, I'm inside
company.
I don't know if it's a legitimate company, but it seems
it might be legitimate. But
There's a banner that says is that message.
This message was Odenpa Junk. The second
banner says you don't often get email from hello@mail.com.
It was sent to junk email. I think.
I think it seems like junk. I mean, it's not related to school. It seems like they're advertising things to me. So yeah, maybe it makes sense to be in junk.

Usually I don't click on. Just ignore it. Yeah. well, sometimes I do get spam sometimes things do not get labeled as spam. I know, sometimes, like Depaul does get phishing emails about like they
boss advertisements for jobs. They try to get like students click on sometimes that doesn't get labeled as spam. I have to label it as spam and report it
there's sometimes where it seems like it's something that's legitimate. It's labeled as spam. But
maybe it gets blocked because it's viewed as
like a company trying to advertise something that I like. Maybe I subscribe to something.
and then it's it should. It's like I subscribe to
like
like an online subscription for like web hosting. And like, I got a free trial. And then I cancel the free trial, and they're still sending me stuff that gets labeled as junk. So it seems I mean you could label it as junk. So maybe it's correct.
But I know from cyber security that sometimes even things that look legitimate
aren't actually legitimate because they can fake. They can fake web addresses. Yeah. So maybe sometimes maybe it's it's actually.
I'm not sure.
he 1st
spam was like, seemed like kind of a phishing email about like trying to catch college students looking for jobs. So I think that did a good job of catching that.
The second one was
probably incorrectly labeled as Spam, because that was, I knew I clicked password reset, and I wasn't getting
the password link when I was looking for it. So it was. It was, incorrectly labeled Yeah.
and the 3rd one was, it might have been a legitimate company, but it was still.
I mean, it was still an advertisement. So it maybe it was correct to label it as spam. Okay? So 2 out of 3 were okay.
Yeah, like, in one of the classes I took, we did like a whole chap. We did like whole section on like spam.
I'm in.
I think I learned how to create a spam email. I learned how to like.
like, maybe, like, you can
make an eye actually look like a 1 or something. So you can make like an official email look
almost exactly like
the official. You can make a fake email with an official email by adjusting the text. And we learned how to do that. So I had a whole chapter in the pulse. Cybersecurity class.
Yeah, I've been getting
bam on my phone
like text or voice mails, or I think it was. I've been getting texts from companies.
I think. But I think that was related to like maybe like an indeed account, like a resume. And indeed account. And they're texting me about jobs. And I think it's spam.
Cause out of the blue. And it's like giving. It's sending me a link, and that we're interested in your like. We have a job opening
at this company I haven't heard of and sending. It's like a random link.
It's very suspicious. And there's like, multiple of them.
yeah.
because
well, I mean, how would it appeared? It seems I mean, like I used the browser in Meta. I mean, I use the broader browser on the headset and click on outlook. And then it, the way it appeared.
was almost identical to my
my personal computer.
But the thing with the
the headset, and you have to
move the cursor around with your hand, and sometimes that's not as accurate as using a mouse or your finger.
so I can see that
you could actually then maybe click
a bad like a bad link that would
from a spam message accidentally, and that could happen on a VR headset. Yeah, I could see that, I mean, and I could see there would be some ways to
prevent that.
Make it harder. Make it. If something is
labeled as spam and outlook.
I can see there would be ways for
The headset to make it hard, make it harder to click on something in the spam or warn you
that you're clicking on something.
Yeah, I've used my brother had a oculus and

but it's cyber security related. Yeah, it doesn't really seem like it's spam. So subject is, you can write your own ticket, and then the I guess the company is acumen.
It's from info@activator.com.
It's just information. Only you can get certified if you want.
Yeah, I would. I would want this to go to like those promotional. You know how Gmail has, like, I don't want it to go to like a promotional one. I wouldn't want it in my primary.
Yeah, not necessarily. Spam.
next one's the same thing. Just a different subject. But it's the same. It's the same line.
I know this next one.
I purposely sent it to spam.
Alright, here we go Chicago. Hilarious.
Think this is on
like a vehicle
like an Atv vehicle company I also got a banner on that. Why is messaging spam.
So that one's marketing. It sounds like, yeah marketing.
same way. Yeah, with the promotional tab.
Yeah. But I don't remember signing up in this
what you also need to.
just to be safe. Yeah. Oh, I see. Let me just see the Motorcycle Company.
I do my motorcycle person. So I guess that's fine.

I checked the domain that it came from, and then.
usually at the bottom, that the footnote there's like a year.
and if that's not like 2024, I'll be like, okay. Something's a little, or if I did it
well, I'm a science community. And then if it's if there's like typos, that's a big giveaway.
Yeah, usually, if it's like, if it's obvious that it's phishing, I won't even look into it even more. I'll just report it as spam, and I won't really click.
Okay, way way up job matchmaker.
I wouldn't want
this one in my inbox.
Well, I just wouldn't want it here. It makes sense. Why, it's there.
So something that you had maybe signed up for?
I've had my email. I mean, I've used my email for 2 years now.
I would say it's only happened like twice, once or twice, and usually like the people that I'm signing up with or the websites I'm signing up and they'll be like, check your spam.
So I guess they'll know like, something's got it. Yeah, they usually get flagged.
Yeah, I'd say it does a decent job.
like I haven't.
I don't think I've gotten spam email on my gmail before.
So like cause I'll get notifications for like the emails that I get. And I don't think any of them have been spam. But I know an outlook like our Gpu email that we'll get something there.
Not really. No.Oh, yeah, yeah. My dad was
yeah. It was. Do you want me to, if you don't mind. Yeah, no, he was
the social engine, like I guess they found his number or something they're like.
We'll pay off your credit cards right and like he's got to pay us this morning, and then, like separate wire to them, and we'll pay it off. And he thought he was skeptical, right like that's not dumb, but like the thing that like sold it for was that it worked like they they actually did pay off so, but then I guess they wanted to do it more and more.
and then I guess when the amount got a little bigger and they're like, let's just catch up and they go 7.
So that's why.
I guess that's that was the social engineering thing they did.
eah, that's what sold him, because, like up until then, he was even. I was skeptical. But like he was like, they're actually paying it off right. They had some way of wording it where it made sense. That's a really elaborate scheme. Yeah, he shares it as well. He doesn't want people to
fall into those traps right?
My phone text messages. It always be like those Usps. The times has been delivered, or something, or job offers people off packages, or they love. eah, on Instagram dms, I do. But Instagram does a good job of filtering there because it puts into the request tab.
And then you can see from there. And it's it's always like marketing
by this day or follow ups.
(When asked about LinkedIn) I'll get some connections where it'll be like, be careful before you connect with this person, because I am kind of like I just connected to everyone, and sometimes randomly. It'll it'll tell me that.
And there was one time where I looked into it, and they did look on it like a shady person.
I had an oculus rift a while ago.

mean, most of the time Gmail has this feature, or if you're sending an email, somebody outside the organization.

tA0?QT69It does. It says, Why is this message in spam. It is similar to messages that were identified as a spam in the past.
It says it looks like it's a holiday. How like a Halloween holiday special or something.
Yeah, I'm glad it went to spam.
Varsity blood center.
It's saying the banner says, life or death moment.
and I've donated blood before to this place.
So I'm I'm on.
eah, I mean, it looks like, it's telling a story.
Okay, so nolia was 24 weeks pregnant, when she started feeling pain in her
pat
plateau. It count platelet platelet. Yeah, began dropping rapidly, she had to deliver her baby, evan, early at a c-section.
So it's just it seems like it's just telling a story trying to get us to we're trying to get me to donate blood.
It is an acer email. And it says, Find your fall fit with up to $500 off laptops.

I do have multiple emails.
So I have one. That's my main.
I have a second one that's dedicated for work, and then a 3rd one that is just kind of like a backup. If I need an extra email for random. I don't know accounts or something.
I mean, I would just say when it's
I mean, I don't tend to open up emails. So I don't really like, even if it is a spam, even though, like even my main, my main email, it does have a lot of spam in it.
I don't really open them just because I've I could tell just right off the bat that it's kind of like a they're trying to either sell something or they're trying to
get me to get a deal, or
I do get a lot of uber eats uber eats spam ones
alrighty.

I mean, I know my partner tells me to look into the email that is being sent by
the email is.
I would say, a key in making sure that it looks like a valid email
and make sure that, like there's no links attached to it, because I I know that's all links. That's how they get you. So you know, I try not to click on links or anything like that, like, I'll open up an email. But I won't really like dive too deep into it. If it's a if it's something sketchy off of it.
I I don't wanna say I don't get notifications, but I would say it's not really like
for it to go to spam for itself is already like a plus, because it's like I'm not. I'm not clicking it, or like it's already out of my my site unless I actually go to my spam and then look at it.
Besides that, with the ones like, I said, with the ones that are there, and I know our spam. I don't really. I don't really pay too much attention to.
I'm not sure I don't really.
I mean, I'm sure there's probably been some in the past, or even like some now. But.
like I said, I don't really open them too much like if I'm being honest. The only ones I do open are my work emails. And that's like
my everyday kind of so outside of that, like, I'm not really opening up my my personal emails or really diving too deep into them. Yeah.
No opinionYes, I would say so through work,I remember I was selling something
through. I think it was through Facebook.
or I think we were buying something, and
they sent an email saying that
it was like, Claim claim your, it was like they were saying that they were sending money through a different app. And I was asking for like Zelle or something, and they were saying that.
oh, like I already sent it. You just have to click on this email to like. Reassure that it's your email that it's going to or whatever
But luckily I did not click on that email
on that link, either. So
I would say, I would say, Yeah, I've had
couple instances. Okay.

Reflecting on that, I wouldn't say successful. But they they were close to being successful. I would say they they they kind of got me, but then, after maybe if my partner wasn't there, I would have maybe gone it a little bit further. But
I would say in general, I haven't really
been or became a victim, but was really close to being one.

I know my mom one time
got got scammed
it was like a
it was like a
chase email or whatever.
Luckily my mom gets paid in cash because she's a waiter, or waitress. But they emptied out her bank account.
and I was only like
I mean, it was only like 300 bucks. But
th. And this was a while ago. This was a while ago. This was when
my parents aren't from here. So they're not really too connected to much
like, they're not really too connected into technology and whatnot. So it's not really spoken about.
So when it did happen to them, they're kind of like, what do we do? And
you know those?
I'll say I'll say my mom was a victim about on that.

Well, I would say, like.
Have I see, like personally seen it. But I mean.
I wouldn't say personally, but I do hear a lot of like, you know, fake phone calls like, I know, with AI being such a big
with AI being developed super super big. Right now, it's
people are using phone calls to send people money and whatnot, you know, acting like they're either children or their parents, or there's whatever it may be. I've I've heard a lot of stories involving
a lot of fake phone calls and stuff like that?
I mean.
I'm not sure how safe these are. In the 1st place. I know, like through computers and phones, you could use Vpns, and you could use kinda you know, little attachments that could somewhat create a barrier between you and the outside world, but through, I mean through the headset, I'm not really 100 sure what
how safe it is. In the 1st place, I mean. I'm sure there's probably ways that
people could get.
you know, Vpns or something on their on their headsets, and could open up whatever they'd like on on any browser whatever. Maybe

0t5C^1XUThere is one message. it says this reported as spam, because it is similar to the previous messages that have been identified as spam
I don't think so, because this is something that I have subscribed to.
Yeah, I'm glad that it went to the spam. Because they sent a lot of messages.
the next one is from the same
same page, and it says the same thing, because it has been identified as the same message. But I haven't seen this message anywhere.
Yes, it is a spam. Okay, it is kinda
thing that you sign for something else. And then your email goes to every other person.
So I guess that is how that came to my email.
It doesn't spam because I have blocked them.
t's
just I did apply there, and you just sign up there. But then I
did block them because I needed them but
the mail. My mail didn't get released from the data, I guess. So
did this one get a banner message as well.
No, it says, because you have locked the
block that site. So it's an spam folder, and it gives me an option to unblock the sender.
Usually the ones that I think would be spam, which is delete them or
I go on selecting it one by one, so I can go through the emails like the subject, and whichever I find it, I need to read it. I keep them. And then, after deleting the rest of the messages, I go and read them.
Not so often it's very rare that I get phishing emails.

Yes, I do. Look at the senders email address, and also the subjects and the attachments.
Personally, I don't go and immediately open the attachments. But I do read through the email and then
search for anything if there's anything fishy about it. And then I go to the settings.
It did get end up in the wrong place sometimes.
if I haven't told Gmail to do that thing. So sometimes I have to go in the spam folders to check. If I've got some important need or not. Yeah, because the sender is new, and sometimes the gmail considers them a spam
on fishing.
And no, I haven't been. But since I'm a cybersecurity student, I know what phishing and social engineering or whatever goes into it. Yeah, recently my roommate did get phished, but it was from people, and since they use outlook. They just sent a mail on the outlook on her outlook, and she's working on campus. And she thought that maybe the mail said that you have some unread emails that important.
and she thought that it's from her manager that she might have overlooked or missed reading it. And then she went on and clicked on the link in the email, and then she got fit. But luckily it was from people, so she didn't get into trouble afterwards. They were just testing since cyber security month is going on.
Yeah. The default, I mean, on the outlook. The default email has been got fished a lot.
Yeah, I did get phishing text messages, but to anywhere else. No, not on social media. You have a loan, a lottery, or your loan has been passed, and just need some more details about feeling to get it.But since I am not much into the headsets, though I would prefer it. But yeah, definitely, if given chance, I would definitely use it for doing the email things. And
no, it's just if you know what's going on and what actually is phishing. And you have an idea what to look at. If you're looking for phishing things, then it's pretty safe to go on any device and look for emails is what I think.
It's just basic.Usually I prefer the laptops because you get a lot of things that handy while typing in mail, or if you want to attach some files and everything. So
and just refer to the application.

w8wZjdr.I don't think so. Not that I can
tell. It's
the the email. That kind of like pulled up. It was also listed as being in my trash.
Not necessarily. It's like, it's like an email from like Twitter. Where it's kind of like just giving an update on what? Like one of the users posted? But normally, if I were to have like seen that in my inbox or something. I probably wouldn't have clicked it, anyway.
I do have like a little banner. Now. That's asking, why is this message in spam.
It is similar to messages that were identified as spam in the past.
But it's more of like kind of an ad
service that I had signed up for before.
But I haven't really interacted with it a whole lot.
I think I would have rather it have gone to my inbox.
cause it's
more. It's talking about more of like, kind of like a like a session or like workshop.
But I wouldn't say anything really looks
off about it.
But I also would say, I tend to use outlook more than gmail.
Don't know if it's like unusual. But like the register here, Link.
I feel like
normally, if it was like a register, your kind of button or link, it'd be more of like a natural like, kind of like button with
with like other graphics versus just being like the
just like the text with like the hyperlink.
(When asked if the email looked like a phishing attempt) I think so.
Just cause of like the way
that it's kind of way that it kind of looks like it. It's it has 2 of
Oh, what it worries
the the 2 little
you know the the little like
less or greater than symbols. Oh, okay,
I feel like, if
like, it's more likely to be phishing
versus if it was just like a like a stylized button
on.
or if it was just like register here.
Yeah, without, like those additional symbols.
And then
not really a banner. It's kind of just like the same little box.
Notifying like, why is this message in spam
and then above it is just like the the header from like, who's sending it?
But I also.
because it's like more of like on the marketing side. I don't really recognize who the actual sender is.
even though it provides a name.
But I do recognize kind of like the.
I guess, like the company name.
If it's in like the spam or junk, folder 1st off, and then, if I recognize
who it's coming from like whether, if it's a recognized like company
from there, I kind of look if there are like specific names.
if it is like a recognized company, because
I think, like over the past year or 2 there have been like an increase in like spam and phishing emails for me. I
sometimes look at like the actual like email address. But I didn't in this case, because I kind of forgot, because I I just saw, like the recognized company, and from there sometimes I just like forget, and don't think to actually look.
I would say, no.
But also I don't use Gmail as much.
So yeah, I I feel like on both. I just have
I tend to use outlook more, and
from my past I've done that because I I feel like outlook has a better job at kind of like creating folders.
versus, or at least I'm more used to using folders versus like labels with Gmail.
Yeah, from like employers like they'll have like their like fishing training. But sometimes because it's like
on the job, and I have, like my other duties to do. Sometimes I'll kind of just like click through because a lot of the times like the quizzes that they have are more like common sense kind of things. But I think that was a lot more effective in the past when fishing was a lot
more obvious.
I think recently, with like
AI, or just like whoever is coming up with, like the phishing emails they've gotten like a little harder to
to like tell, which is why I've started to look into the actual email addresses of like where it's coming from, because sometimes they'll they'll like it'll come from like some something that sounds or like is is spelled in a very similar ways like the company, but once I actually like look sometimes there will be like a like a period like in the wrong place, or like an extra letter. And I'm like, yeah, okay, yeah, that's a good catch. Yeah, because that's tough.
especially if you're like doing something quickly.
with, yeah, I'd say I'd say both
with social media.
I would say, like with
like it, it does a better job. I kind of like sorting it into like a separate mailbox that I kind of just like, don't click on or look at
when it comes to like phone calls. I think that's harder to like filter out
so
like a an issue that that I've actually kind of been trying to figure out and balance is knowing what
what calls to answer. So if it's actually like someone that I'm expecting a call from then. Yeah, I'll answer. But if it's like an unknown number, or or just
like not listed, I typically won't answer. And then I'll just wait to see if they leave a voicemail and then from there. Yeah.
But that also is kind of like a double edge sword, because if it is like, let's say an employer, or or just like someone that I that I don't have saved onto my contacts contacts, I can like miss the call. And then just
that gets lost. Yeah, that's really true, too.
makes it like hard to 0 in on a single button.
For like inaccurate here
like selection.

definitely like the the kind of like eye tracking and like head tracking.
I think the more
initially, like more frustrated, I would get with kind of like having to land on the right thing the faster I was just like, let me just click on this instead of actually taking the time to
look and review.
Yeah, like 100%. I I would probably like accidentally like, move my head and like, click on another thing, I didn't mean to.
color coding. I think color coding would help a lot, because, although like it does filter and like, put puts it in like another mailbox
at the end of the day, like
all, with all the emails looking kind of like the same, it gets a little more.
I don't know just like looking at it. It's just like it all looks the same.

(Participant couldn't get the headset to click on the spam folder) Well, I just searched spam because I couldn't really
get a
the spam icon?
I've like. I've like tried it out, but I haven't like
used it often.

based in China. It's nothing familiar.
It's like, there I see the boxes

No, because I didn't sign up for this. That would be one of the reasons.
I even if I want to continue or go further. I don't have the code which they are expecting.
Okay, I only see empty boxes. Oh, interesting. Okay, it's a really interesting one.
Why is this message in spam?
It is similar to message that were identified as spam in the past. That's the notification from Google.
And there's a button report, not spam. So I'm not gonna click that because this sounds good and then, so is this one that you would want to have go to your spam.
I want this sort of limits in my spam.
Okay, next one is also similar. But it it's in black color, just the color change.
Oh, I see. Similar thing. Okay, I have, like some 4 to 5 min from same people. Oh, they're persistent. Yeah, okay, all all with, like, the you said Chinese, like.
yeah, I got this the 1st several mail I got is on 16th October.
then the most recent was on. Oh, it's is it today? Let me open it.
Yeah.
The one which I read out it was 7 h ago.
Yeah. It says, Hi, okay, maybe this is for you. If you're ready to make your study abroad, dreams and reality by 2025, it looks like an advertisement
is from.
Oh, yeah.
American dreams of it. No, reply. Gt, gdmkt.in? I don't know who that is, but it it doesn't look. Okay, thank you globally. I guess it's from global trade.
I wouldn't. I still wouldn't sign up for this, because I'm already setting an abroad. So it's
no, not much of use for me.
and since I haven't looked up for this thing. So it it doesn't make sense for me to sign up for this.
Oh, yeah, it has. Why is this message in spam? Yeah, same Google notification.
for my outlook, I do check it daily.
and I open the focus tab, and there is a general tab as well. So just to hide the advertisement email, and I only read the focus once in a while I just take a look at the no other general part of the email.

maybe that
contrast of the banners they use, and the font which looks suspicious.
That's what I would figure out.
And maybe I'll just look up for any website or suggestion from the industry expert to the mic.
I do a little research how to figure out which is spam or nothing. But yeah, I would try avoiding clicking any links or sharing any details right away.
Those aren't like
actually warning they are. They are just asking, do you want to keep it removed from the spam name or not? So they, if there is some detection system built in Gmail which could actually alert people. That would be helpful.

Oh, yeah, as I said, like, and the color
coding thing and the better alert system.
because the current system it just asks you that you want to keep the mail in the spam or not. That's it, that's all it does.
no, I it doesn't happen often to me. It's like
I only have like 6 spam messages.
Good. But these days I'm only using outlook more because of my work and the school purposes.
So I will look. Take a look at my gmail these days. I would prefer Gmail still, Gmail, because it's
have been using it for a long time, and it starts
better.
No,Yeah, I I did. Came across you like some sort of ransom thing. It wasn't me. So yeah, I just heard about that. I didn't look into the detail. But yeah, due to some reason. Few ways back.
I just forgot to turn a 2 factor authentication, authentication. And someone entered into my Youtube took over my Youtube account
and they were posting some trading random trading videos. So I just
googled it up and went to account management.
Fortunately there was no financial accounts were linked back. Then everything was on my parents email.
I didn't have any act
financial things linked to my account. But yeah, I did manage to recover it. Yeah.
When I see the login list of login devices there was someone
from Russia were using. It was showing some Russian computer.
Mostly through text or yeah, text, normal text, and some sometimes it's rarely on Linkedin and sometimes on Instagram as well.I didn't feel much of the difference by using the headset, because it was same in interface like which we do with the PC. I guess I would suggest if they could do something
extra with the user interface is like around the maybe the color grading around the spam email.
How better was it? Alert system? Yeah, just the color. Would
we get the
make the person alert that it could be a suspicious thing. Yeah, that's a really good idea. Maybe color coding. Yeah, yeah, that would definitely help. Because, yeah, it can be tough to see the difference in there.

that should be flagged. Important. It's not always flagged as such.
No, I don't know if it was formal. I know we watch videos on fishing. I think this Internet safety in school where you had to watch videos and stuff. But I wouldn't say that's formal. Not to my knowledgeOh, my gosh! What's irritating now is some of them are jobs like they do. Job related,

I feel it was same process was there in my back on 1st office career. So thing was like I was little aware how it looks.
So that is the reason I differentiate. Okay, this is not the official email. I'm getting through the company because I'm too habituated in a professional world. And I learned that. Okay, whenever something is link provided and a big link, it is a like always ask question, why? For 3 times at least, why it is there. Why I received this, or if you have any doubt to ask your senior.
or any counselor or reporting manager, you have.

Https. So I learned this in my initial professional journey that whenever it's whenever you're opening any website on, there is no https.
If you are doing something particularly or something important, so make sure to notice that whenever you open any website or URL.

It's like a big offer or sign. Is there email like a bumper? Emails is like, Oh, this is a sale also. So sometimes it's there, but not sure what particularly sounds good.
Yes, it was there once.mostly it happens for the Otp things. And one thing happened with me once
that I applied for some position, and they replied me, but I was keep checking, and it's showing an inbox that it's not there, but it's went through in a spam, and somehow I lost that opportunity because of they are keep trying to send me, and when I check spam it was also not there. And after some days I'm seeing that all the emails were there
after some day, like, I think, in after 24 h, 72 between that period it was when there and I didn't check so it happened that time.
Yeah. And I feel it's very nice, because if you want to connect with anyone professionally, it helps a lot. And somewhere, if we don't want to connect through personally, either through phone call or so.
So it was another good way to communicate with people in audio.
They already gave me that training initiallyActually I I joined Vipro. It was one of the biggest it company. So I went into that company, and I joined that company, and I was an initial phase of my like career there in Vipro. So that and what happened? That I my, all the emails, whenever, whatever the Hr. Used to send me. It went both the emails.
a company's email id as well as my personal email id, as at that time it was a new employee, and they might not keep the most
like, thing is like, I'm habituated of like checking those emails which is my personal. And sometimes I don't have access to the office emails because I have to go through the lots of access points
if I want it in my phone. So there was a situation that. They we were working. And that email was came to me. And it was a phishing email and didn't know that because it was a fully authentic looks authentic. So I said, it's fine with the company email also.
So when I clicked it, it was something fishing email was there. So I connected to my Hr. And she said, Whenever you see this kind of me, please avoid that, and because of that I have to do another training to just clear it, because my whole office access a laptop and everything was logged because of that. So it happened.

it was looked, as I said, it was so authentic that you never differentiate that it's not that this is the correct one or not, and I was as new professionally in a professional world, how it works.
So I was never going gone through all this thing.
t also happened with me in my official email, I worked in Big 4, which is Ernest and Young. And there I used
to work as a Us tax analyst. So there was a time that it was a phishing email, and they used to give us a good training that you'd never used to click, and all or other things. So I already gone through that process of the phishing things before in Vipro as a It company. So it was my next job. Ey, so I said, No, this time I will be a very specific with any emails. But that email was
received in my outlook. So things are little different. But it was also authentic. You can see everything fine. So I asked so in before what we they used to do that they used to provide a counselor to you. It's a kind of reporting manager it's a similar kind of, but it's little different.
So I told my like counselor that this kind of email I received, can I connect you through call or so? So she said, Okay, fine. At that time we can meet. And we connected. And she saw. And that was the phishing email. So I didn't
click everywhere. It was fine and same email was received by one of my colleague, and he clicked that. And it was the same email. And he didn't know about that because he for him. It was a 1st job for him. So it's like, Okay, it's fine for me. It was a second, and I was aware of that thing. So I told him, never use to click anything whenever you find all these things.
Yeah, I was so authentic. But it's fine.
I'm actually in us. I came last year 2023. So I used to find some that you have some offer or something. Coupons is there in
in particular website or so. But whenever I use open it was something.
I opened that because I heard that it's it's very rare in us to receive all this phishing emails. Or so it was my personal like
thing I heard, or something. So thing was like I received that I opened, and it was something, miss website. Look after that. And there is a coach bag. There is a bad bag. So there is a lot of things there. But it was not official website. I I know, because I noticed that there is no https.
So mostly whenever it's a official or the correct website, it was always there.
Yes, see? Actually, mostly we you we use gmail a lot or so. So whenever you, we are going through any website where they ask for your Gmail id or so, because
sometimes we are very curious for the shoppings, and all because girls are too fond of to do shopping and all. So whenever I we see okay, there is some offer, let's go, you know. So we used to check the website. So whenever we are mentioning our personal email or so make sure that there is lots of buttons where there to click or not to click. So whenever we are, you are registering your email, make sure not to
like uncheck all all the unnecessary things which you don't want to. So there is a lots of like offer emails or something. Something is used to come. So in between, you never know where it click to where. So I feel that we have to make sure whenever we are registering our E personal email anywhere, to check any cookies or
involved. So checkboxes there or not. Yeah, that's a really great suggestion. Really great suggestion. Yeah, do you ever see when you get emails that are phishing that they have like a banner message on them, saying that they're phishing
not sure but it may happen not sure.
Yeah, I use
almost most of the time, because I must
audit student and our as well as

one second.
And I'm a Cps student, too. So most of the time I have to wear handsets.
I mostly used to open directly.
and I go through what is unread first, st and if I'm in hurry or so, so I used to do one thing like I used to make a star mark or so, or PIN it just to make sure that I can make attention whenever I'm free, because I have a habit of checking my email app when I use whenever I used to go to bed.
So if in like any case, I miss something or so. So this is the reason.
I used to do in phone because it's handy.
And whenever I used to do classes or so, I used to
check through like my website or laptop.

1f&LyPwLIt looks like regular promotional email, that's it. But there's this thing
like report as not spam?
It gives me an option
like, why is this a spam? Why is this messaging spam?
Yeah, I want it in my spam definitely. It's like a promotional thing of some sort.
signed up for it like 2 days ago.
So it's from that company.
you can register for our subscription.
Activate this
for a $10 credit
something like that.
Yeah. I signed up, for
it's like maybe 6 to 8 months ago. I don't even remember I don't even use it right now. Yeah, I'm glad it's in as well.
this is in my spam. But this also feels like
there's an activity
happening in my
profile in the app which I signed up for even this app I don't use right now
even for this I signed up, for like a year ago.
It says the same thing that there's some activity, but
that's in the title of it. But when I scroll down the email
it says the same thing like some promotional thing. Maybe it just wants to grab my attention with the title of the email. But
it's the same thing. I I'm glad it's in the spam.

It doesn't seem like
they are trying to fish me or like there's a scam because it was a legitimate website I signed up, for I do remember that. And also I do remember, I do remember how the website looks and
like the basics of the website like the font of it or the colors of the website. I mean, everything was the same. So
I would have clicked on the link, because everything was
everything was the same from what I imagined that website to be.
I'm a tech nerd. So basically, whenever there, there's an email like some random letters like
that doesn't make any sense.
and@therategmail.com something. Sometimes it gets like that. So when I look at those kind of emails, I instantly know that I shouldn't open this, or it's definitely a spam thing.
but more like
the promotional things might be a spam. Things
I even ignore most of them.
I only
have this outlook, by
which I only signed up for the educational purposes the Edu event.com

So I I signed up for a website which sent some phishing emails to other people like Log into this Gmail. But those
the credentials the others enter in that form would directly come to me.
So I know what the phishing thing happens, and I might be pretty aware, because there's this
a little tweaking in the Urls of those phishing things so maybe I could recognize some of them.
Oh, there's this thing happened with me once, like
I signed up for an app I was signing up for an app, and it was. It said it said like, we sent an Otp to your email. But when I look at the email. There was no otp there but it when I checked in the spam folder. The Otp was there. So there's 1 thing it's like
I want that Otp to be there in my primary folder, but it went directly to my spam, so I guess that
not the Gmail did not did a good job in sorting that.
Outlook does a pretty good job of
notifying me about the only the important emails from my professor or my lecture things. So
there's an separate app for those kind of emails which are really really important to me.
I use the native Gmail app for all of my other emails which are like.
not so important stuff that goes on in there.
outlook is better, I guess.
Oh, not really. I mean, when I was like
what 1617 years old, I used to
watch all these Youtube videos of fishing.
yeah, like, not in my immediate family, but in my relatives.
There were this case where
my aunt
she happened to be signed up for some insurance thing, and she used to pay like
a thousand dollars per month, or maybe once or 2 months, to a company or some website. But after a while she wanted to
like depot
like, take out the money
from that insurance fund. But
they did not even respond. So she's like, in like $15,000 debt.
Yeah, this went on for a while. She also did a
police complaint, a cyber report, but nothing
game from it. Yeah, those are really tough to try to factor
that that was a really big thing, because the policy guy used to call her, and assured her that everything's good. Like, maybe this was a big scam.
I I used to get so many phone calls, about so many offers, promotional things and so many text messages.
But I know, like, it's not from a legitimate source. Because.
yeah, I kind of know it because I've been in like using phone. And all of this since many years, but
whenever I
especially told my parents that if you get any messages like this 1st send it to me, I'll just reverify it for
your sake, and maybe we'll just try to avoid everything. That's a really good idea. That's really great that you did. Yeah, yeah.
yeah. Sometimes you need help with that stuff.
Okay, maybe they are just straight up saying that this might be a spam.
Maybe they could also like, Tell that
they can be 100% sure about it, because, as I told you, there was this one time, the Otp will direct you to spam, so maybe
if they are not doing such a good job at sorting those
emails as a spam one. Maybe they could also just give a disclaimer at the bottom of it, like
we are not sure maybe you would. You would like to check out, like Ross, check the
authenticity of this email by yourself.
I mean, I've tried a few VR headsets in the past. I've tried to like Apple Vision pro in the apple store. I check it every day on my phone every morning. MaleAsianPost-secondary (Masters, PhD, MD, etc.)22

I think sometimes if some of my important emails. They go to the spam. So I might have to look
because it it's an important email. And you're in a hurry. And you need to find it. You might not always think about going to spam folder.
You will look for it in your mail inbox.

I think a clearer communication or messaging that's informing you that this would be potentially a spam. Even if it's already in your spam folder, maybe just a message back into the file that comes up the panel.

It's you have received a job offer from

all her contacts got the exact same message asking her for sending back the Otp.
So whoever sends back the Otp. Their phone gets hacked. There was nothing that I could do. She just has. She just had to put the phone on airplane mode since all her bank accounts are

x06@P.&iNo it's not scam. I could tell you what it is. Basically, I signed up for this journal, or something that sends me stuff about Wall Street. So it just says, this week's 100
investment banking internships and everything. Oh, yeah. So it's just giving me a list of all the internships with, like the link for the opportunities. And it's just a bunch of like banks like, Bank of America. Capital. One. Yeah, yeah, it does. Yeah. Oh, it does have a lot of color. So I'm not sure if that has too bad. No, no warnings. It just says that the message was identified as spam. I'm glad it went to my spam folder. I'm I got. I get too many emails about this stuff. I don't need any more

So this one is just
It's just an attachment. And the subject just says, exclusive, easy job. This one's a hundred percent scam. And there's another one just like that. But from a different email. it just says this, the attachments on this message may have been blocked for your safety. So that's the only warning. it's spam just the attachment attachment that says presentation. It's just a presentation. So I don't know how they're trying to spam me. Yeah. Also the subject, the exclusive ease job. I don't think that's very convincing. Yeah, it's it seems like a fake name. It's Toby, a Watling. I don't know. It's an interesting name.

Okay, this one's from Linkedin.
a newsletter.
And it's just giving me information. This is a legit email. I just went to my spam. I don't know why, but it's giving me some information about events going on
so it says in the loop. So everything that's going on in the loop or something. It doesn't have any warnings. I'm glad it went here. I wouldn't have really opened it, anyway.

So I think a lot of it is like the subject of the email, and also the like, the place that it's coming from, like the name of the sender and the email of the sender. Because a lot of the times what I've noticed with spam emails, it's just it's a bunch of like letters and numbers in the email. So it's very obvious it's not legit. That's the 1st thing I go. And if they have, like some weird links or like attachments, that's a big signyeah, I'd say so. Yes, yeah, it does make a difference. That does make a difference. Because I mean, yeah, I'm not gonna open the attachment. If it says like, okay, it's blocked for your safety. And then if it's an email from like Legit side, like it was from Linkedin. And it tells me, like, okay, it was in your spam because you don't usually open these emails. I'm like, okay, makes sense. That's fairI was getting a referral for a job, and it went to like my spam folder. And I was like, Oh, don't do that. Thankfully. I checked.I wanna say, yes. But also there are some times where there's
if if it's like some of the emails like from the newsletter for Linkedin, some of them go to the spam. But then some of them do actually end up in my inbox, anyway, which is weird. So I'm like, okay, just decide if you want to put it in there. Or I put it in my actual inbox. So that's the only thing that puts me off. But other than that, I think it does a fine job.
Not really. No.Not somebody close to me, but I know my sister's friend did almost, or I think she did get scammed with like $1,200 or something. But I don't. I don't know if it was through email or somebody called her. But they basically said, like, oh, we have, like your, you know, sensitive information like your address, and whatever whatever. And
turns out, it was just a guy in India who had been calling her, and he wasn't even the Us. So they couldn't really do anything with any of the information that they had. But she found out, after having sent the money
yeah, there's sometimes like people on Instagram, that message you, but it always just goes into your hidden requests or something. So it doesn't actually end up in my you know, direct messages for Instagram. But yeah, there are people like, Oh, you know, if you want like, we can send you jewelry, and you post this content for us, or something.
Or you know, send this this money on this person. Blah blah. And I'm like, No, yeah, it happens a lot. I think honestly, through all sort of like social media, even on Linkedin, a lot of like random people just message you asking about stuff. And I'm like, I don't think you're a real person. Yeah, yeah.
yeah, it's really weird. Yeah.
yeah, Linkedin's gotten kind of spammy. It's like the new Facebook or something. At this point.
I guess, for the ones that could more likely be scam like. Make it a little bit obvious that. Okay, this might be scam like a spam or like scam emails that don't open any links. I feel like they could make that more obvious, maybe because I know a lot of people like, especially my dad, like he's old. So he would definitely press something because he can't, because also
the messages are really tiny when they say, Oh, you know, this is an attachment block for your safety. That's really tiny. Maybe like, make it a little bit bigger.

I don't think I really notice any challenges. I mean, I think, even for my 1st time. It was pretty easy to like use and navigate but I think it was also because he gave me really good instructions on how to do that, but I think it was. I think it wasn't hard. Maybe, like the headset was a little heavy, but I think it has to be, because there's so much that's going on in there. So I don't think in terms of the headset.
Maybe like make the touching a bit more better. But that's really it for that for emails. Yeah, I think, just make it a bit bigger when you're telling people. Yeah, this could be scam for you. So I think that's really it
(When asked about her if her dad asks her for help determining spam) like a few times a couple of times when he gets emails, because also he is one of those chronicle Timu shoppers. So I think he can fall for them pretty easily. But he always asks, so that's all right.

just be more careful when you're checking your emails. Don't don't do anything stupid, because a lot of these emails have a lot of like threatening messages that oh, we have this this on you if you don't act fast. Blah! Blah! They use a lot of pressure to, you know, get you into committing certain actions. Just don't fall for that. If they don't have anything on you, even if they do, it's nothing serious. I don't think so.
That's really it.

y?SdIAx7I'm seeing a lot of stuff with a lot of emojis. So I'll click on the 1st one. Actually, it's It's not. It's like a fake spam about like a billing service that I wasn't that I didn't sign up for and I can already tell, like in the from Section the billing email is an@gmail.com email. I feel like usually when I get billing stuff like from apple or something like that, it'll be very specific, and it'll have like an apple domain in the email. It also in like the subject, it's like forwarded. And it's like it has a lot of like extra numbers and characters and underscores between every word. That's kind of throwing me off. Yeah, it said, why this? Why is this message in spam? It's similar to messages that were that were identified as spam in the past. And then it gives me the option to report it as not spam. Okay. is there anything else about it that like raises red flags that it's been for you? I'm trying to scroll down on it. I'm just not sure how to. Don't think that's possible. There was like they have, like a little thing where you're supposed to like click to review your document, but there's no on top of it. There's like an image that is it loading in, probably because it's a corrupt it also gives me a fake phone number that apparently I've called them with this like it says it's from Paypal, and that I've and that I've called them from this number, even though that's not my number. saying that I've purchased some sort of bitcoin, and then at the bottom, it says it gives me Paypal's Paypal's information like this is from Paypal, the address, and then all rights reserved from Paypal.Yeah. So I think, if it's not from a reputable source. And I haven't heard so much about. And I feel like, even when I do get emails from like Microsoft, or something like telling me about an update they'll 1st tell me, like, Oh, this is Microsoft, like, if you have any questions you can reach out to this person. But I feel like in a lot of the spam emails. It's really just like you owe money or like, this is like the organization like they kind of. Instead of giving like a little excerpt about the organization, they just kind of jump
into the contents, which I feel like that kind of catches me off guard. They also don't offer like another link that I could go to to kind of make sure that it's from a reputable source in any way to identify it. Feel like when it's from like an for example, when Apple sends me the bill for, like my storage, or whatever, they'll always send me an email, and then they'll include like, Oh, if you have any questions you can reach out to them. But whereas these kinds of emails they have like newsletters, but not anyone I can reach out to
to make sure that this is real.
That does really help. I feel like, okay. So I reported this one. So I'm assuming that this is probably the same thing. It kind of like it kind of like gets me going to kind of be in that mindset to think about whether or not it's spam but occasionally it's not always accurate, so I have to click the report, not as spam button. I think, if they like kind of gave me more information about why it was flagged, so that I in the future, like, I know that. Okay, if I put this as spam once, it's going to go there all the time, or something like that kind of learning about more how their algorithm works that way. I can like kind of maneuver it to better meet my needs. every now and then. Yeah, like, I feel like, sometimes I sign up for like
like shopping stuff. So like, if H. And M is like having a sale. And then I'll be like, Okay, I don't really need this anymore. I would like to for it to go in my spam. They'll email me again, and it'll still end up in my inbox. So if they were better, just like, I guess, figuring out those patterns. I mean, kind of figuring out like, is this like a like a corporate? Wide email that they're sending for like sales or something like that? Or is this something that's like that that's like coming up that I would need to know about?
Sometimes, when I remember, like a few years ago, I was trying to do this interview. And I guess something in the email that I was sent, got flagged as spam and like. I feel like occasionally, even when organizations send me something like
Sometimes, like Snapchat will be like, oh, like you opened your account again, or something like that, and it ends up in my spam. That kind of catches me off guard, and I have to put it back manually into my inbox.
But then I feel like whenever I do that. Still, if I get another email from them in the future, it's still going to be sent to my spam, not sure how to turn that off.
I think it does a better job than outlook. I feel like the user interface for Google and Gmail is a lot easier. But I do think like, even though I report something spam once. There may be a time where even this behavior
behavior doesn't connect to a different email. I feel like if they were easier about kind of figuring out that. Oh, is this email from a real person? Or is this kind of like a mass email that's going to thousands of people. That would be a lot easier.
No, I haven't. Yes, my mom put my email down for something. It was like some sort of job opportunity that she was interested about. So like every now and then, I'll get like a spam email from that same organization like, Hey, like, we're looking for people. And I'm like, you know, that's not. But it's okay. I mean, we she learned from that. Yeah. So every now and then I'll get like weird spam text messages or from people I don't know. So I usually don't open them up, they can view them without reading them on iphone, so I'll probably do that and just report it as junk, even though, like. Sometimes I'll do that, and they'll still come back again. And it's usually the same message, okay, what kind of like campaign are they trying to run like, what are they?
Few days ago was like, about the election like, did you vote for this candidate? Did you vote for this candidate? And I was like I never. I went through like everything that I had ever subscribed to, because I have like a list
nowadays. But like I was like, I never subscribed to this, and I never said like which party I was waiting for since this was my 1st election. So I was a little surprised at that. I think it was probably just like I was just on their list of candidates in Chicago, or something like that, but that was still like. I reported it as like delete and like report as junk on iphone. But then I got the same text hours later. So I was like, I don't know if you're like texting from different areas or something like that.
Honestly, I think the headset did a really good job. I don't. I just don't think I was that like well versed in maneuvering it. But I feel like like the user interface is really similar to what I've used on my laptop. So it was kind of like an easy transition.I've used one like years back when playstation 1st came out with theirs holiday games, but I haven't done it in a while. I usually do it on my laptop just because it's easier to see all the emails I feel like on on my iphone like, it gets a little confusing and clunky to like switch over to spam and stuff like that. No, because it contrasts to like my. I have a white background. The gray contrast is enough with the, with the white to tell you like it draws your attention to it like, Hey, is this spam
so? No, I think the bear is fine. They could use like a brighter color, like red, maybe, but gray is probably fine enough.
have you?
So some emails sometimes get a red one. Have you seen the red one? No. Okay.
mainly just like Tiktok messages. Oh, interesting. Okay, because, like, I have actually, if someone sends me a video, they also send me an email when it's kind of like you send me on 2 platforms. But spam. But yeah, have you pushed like? Send a spam on it. And it just, I'm too lazy. No.No, because it contrasts to like my. I have a white background. I don't really bother with it. You know what I mean.
an email how Gmail does on a computer? They're not even familiar with that. You're familiar with the VR headset kind of sort of way formatting it. Any navigation challenges or anything like that. Primarily just kind of it's
it's kind of like depth of like. Did the the depth of view, because for a lot of time the screen looked much closer than actually was. He's just kind of tapping there so that
the calibration seems kind of off from person to person
navigation. Wise? Not really.
perhaps, probably because, like this is like being used a lot. I wish you the way that told you like, hey, this does this. This is that.
But I'm assuming. That's from like you, you get that when you 1st get the headset. So yeah, that would be nice if it did a little for each, because it's in guest mode. So it it knows that, like every person's a new person.
But yeah, it doesn't do any kind of like tutorial. It just does the hold the button thing
a little annoying. But
yeah, that would be a good idea.
is there anything that you think that they could do in the VR headsets that would make detecting spam easier.
I mean.
it's hard. It's hard to manage that, because it's kind of like it's using Gmail, which already has own

yeah,

pop out at you any unusual activity here.
Unusual activity. Yeah, I just like, got an email which is like, kind of suspicious. It says your order has been confirmed, and I didn't order it.
So there's like
a poster kind of thing, and like it has a button called review document. So I was like, what did I order? Oh, interesting. Yeah. And
okay.
email address, does that look suspicious? Yeah, it says, billing service auto confirmation details? Okay, yeah. That looks suspicious, sure. And did you click any links in this email or anything? Not a link. But I try to click on the review document. It didn't really open. Okay, yeah.

absolutely okay. That's that's good to know. Yeah.
Maybe because of the email, id, or like, if there's I mean, the content says something that is not really related to me, or something that I've not done.So would a banner have helped you in this situation. Would you have liked there to be a banner saying suspicious email? Yeah.So sometimes, even like the university, send something, and then I don't get it. I'll have to check something in the spam folder, so I think it can do better to like, detect, spam content.I mean it could do better, because I think some of the mails that are not really spam go to my spam, I mean spam folder. So sometimes, even like the university, send something, and then I don't get it. I'll have to check something in the spam folder, so I think it can do better to like, detect, spam content.No.No.maybe I'm getting a lot of spam calls.
a lot of spam calls, and it says Scam, likely. So that's why I don't pick so that it's helping me like detect. It's a scam. Otherwise, like I would pick. And I get a lot of messages as well. Text messages thing like click on this like, give your details or something like that. Yeah, on mails. I don't think so.
I don't know. Maybe just
maybe just give like a disclaimer message, or something like that, totally

there's like yellow, right yellow. And there's red, which is like this is definitely
not what you want to click on. And then yellow being like.
don't click on this. And you know some kind of maybe green indicator that it is legitimate.
Yeah.
I think that would be appropriate.
Did you find that it didn't load the images helpful.
I mean.
I know there's like a variety of reasons that they do that.
So I'm not.
Yeah. Sure. I mean,
yeah, yeah.
making it so that you have to like opt in to view images in your email. I think it's it's fine.
you know.
No skin off my back to click the little button if it's like a legitimate email.

Oh, it may be.
Yeah, yeah.

What should I give, and I should know.
So if I get any anonymous which I am not aware of.
I'll just unsubscribe it from my inbox, or automatically, most of my mail will go to social promotions. And so I'll just clear it.
I didn't, really. I didn't think about it. But if I if it, if it shows her annoying, able, I just follow it and just report it as a spam, and
I'll just delete it from my
yeah.
Yeah. Sometimes. Like, example.
a payment link back in India payment link. It's a really important payment link for this international thing, and I was, you know, giving like a retry retry, and I was not getting it, and I just checked my spam. It came 5 times. I was like, why, the payment like it's coming in spam.
Yeah. But the thing is sometimes like this team. There's some important mail. It will go into spam. So that's 1 thing. It's always been a drawback.I don't think so, because my circle they are. They are fully aware about all these things. Yes.I see a lot of phishing and telegram. I think it should, you know, like
instead of, you know, just popping up, it should automatically, you know. Just it should.
It should consider itself, and it should get to into the spam folder, because the the thing which we which it's an involve
so we have to, you know, figure it out. It's spam or not. So maybe that should be more precise.
To be frank, I'm from India. So like in India, it's not that much popular. So I'm I'm aware about it, and I have used it couple of times, but I don't think in detail features,phoneMaleAsianMasters22

so then there's this one.
it says.
a user just tried logging into your Facebook.
with an iphone 11 pro.
and it has the other ones did not have report phishing. Now this one has report phishing on it. What does that banner look like? Is it red
or it just added report phishing to the instead of it, just saying, Report not spam. It says, report phishing next to it. Oh, interesting.
Okay, so
and this email does look sketchy, too?
The email address, yeah. Okay.
interesting. So what is is the email asking for you to click any link? Yeah, it's definitely it has 2 buttons that it's asking me.
what do the buttons say?
Yes, it's me and report the user.
Okay.
interesting. And the banner looks a little odd, too, because
it, even like the
cause. I have. Also, I get Facebook notifications in my email. And those have like an actual Facebook logo. And this one has like a
there's no logo with like a octagon. Like a alert sign on the image.
Yeah, that is unusual.
I would say
anything. How do I determine? Spam
anything involving
like emails that aren't
meant for like anything important. Kinda so like, for example, like any deals going on at like
Pete Shop, or something like, I would consider that spam. Yeah.
I would say they make them more
it makes you think twice about
logging or clicking on any links.
just because I've received Facebook like, whenever I get attached on something
like it'll say like, Oh, like
my aunt Tweet, or like commented on a picture I was, or whatever, and like it actually has a logo on it, and it won't like it'll pop up a spam, but it won't pop up as phishing, so like. It was interesting, seeing that that one literally had like a phishing banner on it, saying like report, This is phishing.
I said, pretty good, believes me the important stuff. And then it removes any of the any of the spam that isn't necessary. And I'm I'm able to adjust it to like, I'm able to like click on an email.
we could say, like collectible. For example, I get a lot of their sponsors and stuff like that. Oh, like, come on by, it's Halloween season. Get a pumpkin, spice, latte or whatever.
And you're able to categorize collectibles email as spam. So you're able to remove them from your actual main. Email
No.yes, my mom
and I actually almost had a almost almost had an incident, but not fishing, not fishing more so like
it's like fishing. But like this person specifically, was like.
I was selling something on Facebook marketplace.
And they're like, Oh, click this link, and the Zell will go automatically to your account, or whatever.
and it seemed like there were
they were going to
like fake. Charge me twice. So that's where they steal money off of you.
Yeah, yeah, for sure. Social media, I would say, is a big.
I would say, I've seen a lot more on social media than main emails. I feel like with the current
era that we're in. I feel like social media is very, very like out there. So I feel like that's like the best way to reach out or get in contact with somebody.
Yeah. I would say, I mean. this would be like my preference. But I know companies have to also work around people who have disabilities. So I mean, I would say. like color, like something with color to pop out so like red. you automatically know it's like, stop like, don't don't do anything kind of like where the fishing button was at. I wish it would like be highlighted red or something. So you know that like. or even like I know how like, when you're on your email, and you don't read something as like a blue dot next to it. I wish it would be like something attached to that, so you could have, like a a double. like a notification, like a 2 time notification to know that it's a possibility that it's not a not a valid source of an email.
above average normal.phoneMaleHispanicSome College22

have created an account.
So they have gave me some offers for my like, if you
these are no offers like they have given some brands. So
it's it's kind of like if you want to have any discount like you are created account in cheese. So you can use this card for this brands and all you will get 10% offer 20% offer. Sure. Alright. Can you tell that that email is legitimate like, just when you look at it? Does it look real like, really?
Yeah, they have given the, you know the chase from at the bank thing. So that's why they have. They have attached it.
So I think it's kind of weird.
I usually
don't do that like
this, you know. My, this account is like out of storage
whenever like, whenever I'm free. Now, now, after coming here, I use this complete outlook for university purpose and everything wherever I go. I used to give my school. Id, only

probably weekly ones.In my school idea. I didn't get that much in my spam. I used to get like this kind of job office in my
inbox. Right?
Yeah, it's it's good, but still, and keep on getting those mails from
the like. I don't know people. I just keep on getting those I used to just
block, or I don't respond. If I if the mails from my professor or some Cdm mail, I used to
open it surely
You have yeah, a lot. Okay, where did you receive this training?
Not from here, from India. Back in India. I used to get a lot of training like we offer you free training. We offer you this much, you you can pay this much and you'll get a job offer within the training period, you know. Here it's very systemized and secured. But back in India it's not like this kind of thing. That's why
yes, my mom
and I actually almost had a almost almost had an incident, but not fishing, not fishing more so like
it's like fishing. But like this person specifically, was like.

Yeah, after getting this number, like, remember, I get some anonymous text from unknown people. So they they think as if, like the previous owner of this number.
like some name, like high grades and all. Oh, very interesting.
Okay. And
do you respond to any of those? I just don't respond. And probably I used to get those emails in my school like outlook. I get mails like you got this job offer. And I used to, even at at start. I used to apply for the jobs.
But after that I get some text in my phone, like I message they they keep they it's like, assistant job. Personal assistant job. I was like, Oh, my God, I just got shocked.
So how often would you say, you see, suspicious emails in your inbox.
probably weekly ones.
I I don't think about like more. Most probably people don't go and see spams and all I prefer like. I don't. I want to avoid the anonymous mails in my inbox. Because inbox, you know, it's the main thing. Whenever I get an important mails from professors and everyone I used to check that, I'm getting this job offer things and all. It's kind of
it's it's 50% real and 50% fake. I'm just getting confused. Yeah, because I even applied to more on campus jobs now. So it's confusing for me. Yeah.
I have done my undergrad in AI. So have done 2 projects but I'm not that much familiar in headsets, but I use
I use VR, like lenses and all kind of thing in my project.
