ForewordSince COP26, Article 6 ("A6") has grown in prominence globally as a promising way to unlock new streams of climate finance and accelerate our transition towards a net zero future, with 77% of all UNFCCC Parties stating that they "plan to or will possibly use at least one type of voluntary cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement".

Accordingly, the last few years have been characterised by a proliferation of capacity building ("CB") programs, designed to build the capacity needed to engage meaningfully with A6. This volume of CB support has been instrumental to building awareness of the potential benefits that A6 can offer, and to bringing diverse voices from both buyer and host countries to the table. However, it also introduces the risk of discoordination and duplication - leading to an increasingly complex landscape of support options for governments and organizations to choose from.

Our goal in compiling this
Article 6 Capacity Building Landscape Database is to simplify that landscape, so we can bring the world on board A6 with confidence and commitment at scale. It is intended to be a living directory of CB offerings available, so that:
1. Host countries can understand what support is available, and filter what is relevant to their needs
2. CB providers can minimise duplication and multiply existing efforts, by identifying where support is saturated / most needed

We hope that this
Database is a useful resource for you as we work together to build a robust, high integrity carbon market.

MethodologyThis Database builds on MOEJ's analysis of responses from country and organization representatives to A6IP and MOEJ's "A6 capacity building survey" from Mar 2022 onwards, supplementing it with information available in the public domain, including the valuable work of our partners in the UNFCCC and Perspectives Climate Group, who have both devoted attention to mapping the complex and evolving landscape of A6 projects and CB programs.

Our methodology is based on A6IP analysis, and subject to revision. Despite our best efforts to ensure accuracy, the data within may be outdated or incomplete on occasion as some information may not be publicly disclosed and / or as programs evolve.

We invite you to share your feedback (and corrections, if any) so that we can continually improve on this work with valuable input from your experience.
3
Future directionsThe long-term vision is to build an interactive tool on the A6IP website (a6partnership.org) with granular filter and search functions (e.g. search by metatag "ITMO"). We seek feedback from countries and organizations alike on the content and organization of this database, to ensure it becomes even more accurate and useful over time.

Please let us know where it is useful, and where it needs to be improved further to meet your needs.
