2017 Women's March: Regional Bike Ride Coordination
2
Hello!

We've heard much demand for bike rides to the Women's March. Please consider helping by leading a bike ride from your neighborhood to the march start location, or assist someone who's already planning to lead a ride.
3
We suggest the following process: - Fill out your information below - Plan your route, time, start, and end location - Create a sharable public facebook page - Track down some buddies to help marshal - We'll help promote your ride, and you should, too - We'll hold a quick call the week before to go over suggestions, questions or concerns about leading a group ride
4
Important information: - Date: Saturday, January 21st - March start location: 3rd and Independence SW - March start time: 10:00am - Bike parking: there is currently no bike valet. - We will publicly share your bike ride event page, start location and time in a google doc, and exclude your personal information
5
Questions: 1. If there's not bike valet where should I end my group ride? - We're trying to track down a way to ID bike-parking dense locations around the route. But there's no good answer here. It's worth parking your bike a 15 min walk from the march start to increase your chances of finding safe parking. 2. Should I recruit friends to help "marshal" our ride? - Yes, having support on the ride will help in keeping your group together, making sure questions get answered, and serving as a line of communication among the group. 3. Do I have to create a Facebook event page? - No, but it will help to have all your event information in one place online that's sharable. Facebook is the easiest option. Though, if you want your bike ride to be open to people other than your friends, be sure to make it "public"--- it's one of the very first options you select when creating the event. 4. What are good ways to get the word out? - Post to your neighborhood listserv, talk it up on your social media channels. 5. How do I make my ride accessible to people who are new to biking? - Select a route that's low traffic, low stress. Give an overview on safe group riding before you start your ride, answer any questions, take a pace that works for people new to biking, and make sure to talk up accessibility when you're doing your promotion. 6. What text should I use to describe the ride in my event pages? - No need to invent the wheel! Modify text from the Ward 5 and Ward 1 event pages!
