Proportion of individuals with iron deficiency (serum ferritin adjusted with modified BRINDA)31.9%Kulkarni et al. 2021
Pg 2428, Table 2. The table also presents iron deficiency prevalence estimates using different inflammation adjustment methods. We've focused on serum ferritin adjusted with modified BRINDA because this is the method Kulkarni et al. 2021 use when presenting their headline results: "ID prevalence was higher in 1- to 4-y-old children (31.9%; 95% CI: 31.0%, 32.8%) and adolescent girls (30.4%; 95% CI: 29.3%, 31.5%) but lower in adolescent boys and 5- to 9-y-old children (11%–15%)." Pg 2422.

Proportion of individuals with iron deficiency (serum ferritin adjusted with modified BRINDA)11.5%Kulkarni et al. 2021
Pg 2428, Table 2. We present separate estimates for boys and girls aged 10 to 19 because there appears to be a substantial divergence in results by gender at that age group (see Table 2).
