Redcliffs Club Championships Conditions of Play (2025/26)

a) Players are to complete games no later than the dates shown on each competition draw for each round of the competition.

b) Club uniform to be worn in all club championship matches.

c) Substitutes are allowed provided the Laws of the Sport of Bowls are met. Some of the key rules are (paraphrased):

i. The Match Committee will determine if the request for a substitute is valid. The following examples would normally be considered valid, including but not limited to illness, bereavement of a close family member, jury duty, Bowls New Zealand duty and work commitments.

ii. The substitute must play in any position other than skip. The other members of the team can rearrange their positions as necessary.

iii. A substitute approved by the Match Committee shall, where possible, be of playing ability equal to, or less than, the absent team member

d) Changes made to members of the original team before the start of the first game are permitted at the discretion of the Match Committee and are not considered to be a substitute.

e) Restriction of movement during a game:

In all games, players are only allowed to walk up to the head under the following circumstances:

Singles: The opponents – after delivery of their 3rd and 4th bowls

Pairs: The leads after the delivery of their 3rd bowl
13
The skips – after delivery of their 2nd and 3rd bowls
14
Triples: The leads after delivery of their 2nd bowl
15
The seconds after delivery of their 2nd bowl
16
The skips after delivery of each of their bowls

Fours: The leads after delivery of the 2nd bowl
18
The seconds after delivery of their 2nd bowl
19
The thirds after delivery of their 2nd bowl

The skips after delivery of each of their bowls

f) Every bowler, who is a full financial bowls member shall be entitled to enter and take part in any or all Club Championships or other Club events, subject always to rules which may be in force at the time and provided the member shall conform to the rules for championship play, laid down by the Match Committee.

g) All games are to be played in accordance with Bowls NZ regulations.

h) If a team cannot meet the above conditions, that team may be defaulted by the Match Committee.

i) The Match Committee shall arbitrate on any disputes arising in a match or regarding games not completed on time. The decision of the Match Committee shall be final.
