We reserved a space on the plaza to talk to students. The goal was to help them find lower cost materials. Many students shared how they saved $$$ on their textbooks. We spoke to 200 students White board with a tally amount of how much students saved and we kept track of students who stopped by. We bought coffee/water and snacks to hand out. Students will learn about the SJSU campus AL$ initiatives on how to search for affordable textbooks so bring your textbook list with you.
Refreshments included. We worked with peer tutors on this project and the presentation was given by our student AL$ ambassador
We anticipated 30-40 students, 12 students showed up for the event.
She had students introduce themselves, share what they would've spent their money on rather than textbooks, and she went over our campus resources for students. The goal of this workshop is to learn about quality assurance and OER and how to apply this to the re/design process. 20 maxFull day, hands on workshop. Improving Your Online Course activities will be provided throughout the day with OER activities integrated.

East BayNovember 6, 2018Monica MunozThis lunch and learn event is an interactive training event, co-hosted by Smart Sparrow and the CSU East Bay Office of the Online Campus. Learn about outstanding learning experiences driven by faculty, created on Smart Sparrow’s adaptive e-learning platform, and engage in discussion and hands-on exploration of key topics in digital learning and student success.
50 max- open to anyone in the CSUSharing of East Bay case studies that have already been created using Smart Sparrow, vendor demos of new or existing products and an advanced session (pending interest) for those who would like to learn more about how to use the authoring tool and how to create engaging adaptive learning lessons. (We have a site license so the use of Smart Sparrow is essentially free to all our students).
