Collaboration is of great importance to Accessible Professionals. The students/intern will be required to work well independently and as part of a team. We want to set our organization apart from the competition with informative and attractive content that can be shared across our social media platforms and website. We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization.

Project goals may include:
1. Provide content and create a strategy to share reliable information with our Facebook Groups.
2. Execute brand strategy by creating content and posts
3. Support social engagement on our social media platforms.
4. Create content that can be shared on our newsletter and blogs.
5. Students will have the ability to work with our automated webinar service to create workshops. DAYA Foundation Located in Oregon (internship will be remote) https://www.dayafoundation.org We are seeking to create online apps and programming in the health and wellness field, specifically related to recovery from addiction and mental health challenges using mindfulness, yoga, and pro-social support activities. We would like to evaluate and then scale an existing program in this field. The template and methodology used to evaluate and scale this program would be utilized in creating additional programs.

Our initiative will incorporate fundraising, social media awareness, and curating resources for the specialized content that will be included in the development of the apps.

My Student Wellbeing Located in Canada (internship will be remote) https://mystudentwellbeing.ca/My Student Wellbeing provides information to educate post-secondary students in Canada on their mental health and wellbeing, as well as providing a platform where students can connect with mental health clinicians, who accept student insurance, for one to one virtual counselling. We also have a larger goal of improving student wellbeing across domains of life, such as financial literacy, nutrition, physical wellbeing, and social life. Some potential projects that interns could assist with include:
-Social Media Campaign for Connection: Design a campaign using social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok) that encourages students to meet others through shared interests, icebreaker challenges, or virtual events. What are some ideas we can encourage people to do to meet others?
-Research Project on University Social Programs: Research and analyze different social programs implemented by universities worldwide that are designed to facilitate friendships and connections among students. Provide recommendations on what My Student Wellbeing could consider implementing and what would be needed to make it happen.
-Research Global Trends in Student Socialization: Explore trends in student socialization at universities in other countries, such as communal living spaces or specific campus events that have been successful in fostering friendships.
Virtual Reality Social Spaces: Research how virtual reality (VR) could be used to create digital spaces where students can meet, hang out, and form friendships, especially for online or distance learning students.
-Research on Icebreaker Activities: Conduct a study on different icebreaker activities used at orientation events and their effectiveness in helping students form lasting connections.
-Student-Run Events for Inclusivity: Develop ideas for student-run events that focus on inclusivity, like cultural exchange nights or themed meet-ups (e.g., board game nights, cooking classes). Explain why you chose the type of activities you selected and how they would help foster connections.
-Online to In-Person Friendships: Research how online interactions (e.g., through university portals or social media) can lead to strong in-person friendships, and what can be done to facilitate this transition. Research the ways students connect online and suggest ideas of how they can take their connection to in-person.
-Friendship through Physical Activity: Create a proposal for campus-wide fitness or sports programs designed specifically to foster friendships among participants. What sort of activities could we try to host to foster connection? Explain why you chose the type of activities you selected and how they would help foster connections.
-Connecting International Students: Research the challenges international students face in making friends and propose targeted programs or initiatives that address those barriers.
-Self Decided: Think about your own life. What’s something you would like to improve in it? It could be any aspect of your life, as it likely applies to other students. Come up with some ideas of what you can start doing in the short term and longer term to improve your life in that area. Explain why you chose those ideas and how they could be effective, and what you can do to increase the chances of you making positive change in that area. Parents of Black Children Located in Canada (internship will be remote) https://parentsofblackchildren.org/ Parents of Black Children (PoBC) is looking for an individual or class to support our child welfare systems navigation and advocacy work for Black families. We know the child welfare system is not neutral and that Black families experience disproportional impact and disparate outcomes within the child welfare system. We work to support families as they navigate the system.

This will include:
Making contacts with parents/individuals who come through our intake process, Uncovering the needs of the individual, Supporting individuals with their child welfare case, Attending meetings, Attending court cases, Writing emails/letters on their behalf, Helping them complete forms, Taking phone calls from them for support, Initiating contact with them to learn about their case, Referring them to appropriate resources. Veritas Voice and Speech LLC Located in Vermont (internship will be remote) https://www.vtspeech.com/Our organization aims to increase awareness about trans and non binary voice training options in our community through a collaborative, inclusive, community-based, and accessible group led by 1-2 queer-identified Speech Language Pathologists and a local transgender co-facilitator.

We would like to work with students to develop a campaign that successfully raises awareness and changes behaviour around access to culturally competent voice and communication training for those seeking these services within the trans and non binary community. In collaboration with key contacts at our organization, the PRIDE Center of Vermont, and other relevant organizations, students will design and carry out a campaign strategy around voice and communication training in the state of Vermont, while assisting in the development of the group training program, including group training topics and activities while collaborating with each facilitator.

Identify groups which this campaign will target.
Identify ideal outcomes and KPIs.
Include the latest and most accurate data and information.
Design leaflets, posters, videos, blog posts, program activities, and/or brochures.
Identify strategies to ensure long term maintenance and community involvement of program.

There may also be opportunities through our organization to address related community outreach programs focusing on healthcare-oriented projects within the field of Speech Language Pathology, including educational outreach regarding the benefits of Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) for both healthcare providers, family members/care partners, and patients navigating the effects of dysphagia (swallowing disorders).
