Some potential projects that interns could assist with include: -Social Media Campaign for Connection: Design a campaign using social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok) that encourages students to meet others through shared interests, icebreaker challenges, or virtual events. What are some ideas we can encourage people to do to meet others? -Research Project on University Social Programs: Research and analyze different social programs implemented by universities worldwide that are designed to facilitate friendships and connections among students. Provide recommendations on what My Student Wellbeing could consider implementing and what would be needed to make it happen. -Research Global Trends in Student Socialization: Explore trends in student socialization at universities in other countries, such as communal living spaces or specific campus events that have been successful in fostering friendships. Virtual Reality Social Spaces: Research how virtual reality (VR) could be used to create digital spaces where students can meet, hang out, and form friendships, especially for online or distance learning students. -Research on Icebreaker Activities: Conduct a study on different icebreaker activities used at orientation events and their effectiveness in helping students form lasting connections. -Student-Run Events for Inclusivity: Develop ideas for student-run events that focus on inclusivity, like cultural exchange nights or themed meet-ups (e.g., board game nights, cooking classes). Explain why you chose the type of activities you selected and how they would help foster connections. -Online to In-Person Friendships: Research how online interactions (e.g., through university portals or social media) can lead to strong in-person friendships, and what can be done to facilitate this transition.
