Let’s say Lisa has a monthly Sales Goals (A) of $100,000 and an Average Deal Size (B) of $25,000 for her intranet development offering. After reviewing her sales history, she sets a target Close Rate (C) of 10%. She guesses that she will be able to convert 3% of the people in her Target List (D) to her Pipeline. By dividing her Monthly Sales Goal (A) of $100K by her Average Deal Size (B) of $25K, Lisa knows that she will have to win at least 4 deals per month (E). She calculates that she will need 40 prospects (F) in her Pipeline every month by dividing her target monthly Deals (E) by her target Close Rate (C): (4 / 0.10). Next, she figures out that she will need to contact a total of 1,334 cold prospects (G) every month by dividing her target Prospects in Pipeline (F) by her target Conversion Rate (D): (40 / 0. 03). Finally, she divides this number by 20 (biz days in a month) to determine that she will have to contact 67 cold prospects everyday.
