Hull #359, "The Linnea". I am the original owner. My Dad bought this boat for me in 1967 when I was 15. We learned to sail it together on a local lake. When my parents moved to the RI shoreline it served as entertainment for various age visitors there. Dad always maintained it well, refinishing the wood and replacing parts, he even built a new rudder/tiller when the original was stolen off the dock. This summer my husband rebuilt the entire stern seat from solid Honduran mahogany. We are now trying to find the correct (original) pattern to use for building a new kick-up rudder and tiller as the one Dad made years ago doesn't work very well. Can anyone help us?

HULL #1216, year unknown, Just purchased from consignment lot because she was a piece of art and too darn cute to resist. Now I know why - CARL ALBERG - The designer of my beloved 1969 Kittiwake 23. CARL KNEW WHAT A GOOD BOAT SHOULD BE. If you know production years, please reach me at 13106 Summit Drive Loop, Garfield Arkansas 72732, or now at philwarner@centurytel.net. A word of advice - TIE YOUR CENTERBOARD IN - she will go mast down if you capsize and don't get a float under the mast tip. (A diver friend did find the centerboard several months after the capsize.)

I now know her Hull #. It is 1442. Her name is "Courtship." The boat has been completely restored and is gorgeous. She was given to my son by his girl friend's father. Once owned by his son when a young boy on the Cape. My son's girl friend's name is Courtney, hence the name. Our family owns a C&C 44 named "Diva" and we moor her in Marion, MA, but the "Courtship" is the love of his life.

Hull #900: This Cape Dory 10 was purchased by the Pierpoint Family of Eatons Neck, NY. Soon after I married Lynn we asked to use the boat and we have had it ever since. We stored the boat in Kings Park, NY before we moved to Colorado 5 years ago. Now we are moving the Cape Dory 10 to upstate NY but the Dory needs work. I’ll be posting on the BB for some help. It is now August 2003 and I have replaced the sail, refurbished & cleaned the boat and short of putting a fresh coat of paint on the inside hull, we are complete. Looks real fine. 9/1/2007 I'm going to paint the inside hull and get the Boat and trailer ready to sell. I will post pictures once it is ready "For Sale".

Traded my 9' boston whaler last fall for CD 10 to use as tender for my ketch. Did not know it was a CD until I restorded it this spring. The boat was in a friends back yard on its side for about 12 years. All was there just a little dirty. Sanded the hull and filled in all the dings and removed the steel screws. Then sprayed the hull with white gel coat and refinshed all the wood. The boat looks show room new.

I found this Cape Dory 10 (hull#919)at the local transfer station (dump) four years ago. She is not in the worst condition, but needs a complete restoration. It seems that all major parts are present exepting the rudder. I would apperciate a pattern or being directed to a complete rudder assembly. The restoration process will start in early March. I understand that this boat is still manufactured by Spartan Marine as the Sparten 10. S

Great shape, all original, its been hanging in my uncle's boathouse in Key Largo for five years and before that was originally owned by a New Jersey man who's daily sail was once 'round the Statue of Liberty and then back home. I'm thinking ofnd then back home. I'm thinking of calling her "The Frumious Bandersnatch."

Flora Z, named after co-owner's mom, who was also a classic who always got the job done attractively. We found her (Hull No. 2038, built in West Bridgewater, Mass.) in Huntington, New York, and only had to sand and varnish the mahogany, repaint the inside, and compound and wax the gelcoat to have her standing tall. Her previous name was Wee Scot.

Received Hull No. 2038, in mid winter 04/05--built in West Bridgewater, Mass. Have decided to name her Sea Minor. I understand from the previous owner's entry on this list the boat was originally Wee Scott.{crlf}Sailed her in Narragansett Bay this summer (2005) and found the usual old wood issues. Bending in new inwales and gunwale rub strakes at the moment. New transom board installed & stern sheets just about ready. Breasthook & CB cover in also. Have been rethinking the rig during this overhaul in view of dinghy camping/cruising goals. I kept the original mast partners design when replacing breasthook so the original rig can be used, but modified the forward thwart to act as a mast step (I have detailed pictures is desired) and intend to make up a standing lug rig for her. I modified the stern sheets to make more room in the boat for sitting in the bottom for off-wind work and moved the center thwart forward to just over the aft end of the trunk cover board, with hinges to allow the starboard side of the center thwart to be folded over onto the port side out of the way for sleeping. Lost floatation will be made up by two 8X20" fenders hooked into the trunk (1 each port & starboard)--removable and usable as fenders or anchor bouy & out of the way for sleeping.

Hull no. 2180. I think this is a 1977 model. I bought it at a church rummage sale last month. It had been submerged up to the seat tops in a pond. There were five dead baby catfish under the back seat. All parts were useable except for the sail and one of the cast aluminum boom end fittings. I need these parts, preferably used.Registration letters were DC (Washington, D.C. ?). Also had a sticker that said Fort Walton Yacht Club. After a lot of sanding, painting, and varnishing, she is starting to look like new. Like most others, I would love to find out for sure if this hull no. was built in 1977. Any info. would be appreciated.

Boat name - America. When we boat the boat it was in need of some serious help. We made several fiberglass repairs to the hull; around the transom, bow, keel and bottom. We applied a new gel coat and a two part enamel paint from West Marine, color "snow white" the rub rail, seats and all other wood was removed and refinished or duplicated and replaced. The interior of the boat was finished off with West Marine color Bristol Beige. We power the boat with a 4 HP Mercury engine.

Hull number 65, we've only had it for one season, but what a great clasic to sail. Thinking of a longler rudder and interested in anyone who has done so. {crlf}

Bought this boat Father's Day 2003 from a family that had owned her for 35+ years. She has never been restored, just lovingly cared for. Will finish varnishing tom'w and in she goes. I like all my boats, but this is one you can love. Hull #75. Builder's plate says Cape Dory Co. Box 121 Brockton, MA

I don't know the year of manufacture, but the hull is #186. She does not yet have a name. All of the wood is Mahogany, not Teak. If anybody knows the production runs, please send them along so I can figure out the age.

"Matilda" - Hull #245. This boat was originally kept in Florida by the first and second owners. The second owner later moved to California and then to Idaho. I purchased this boat in 1990 and have used it in the lakes around this area. It still has the original dacron sail which is getting very close to needing replacement. I finished a restoration of the woodwork, gel coat and repainted the interior. She looks great! A canvas shop made a 42% main sail which allows me to take her into some fairly high wind situations and keep her heel comfortable. However it did increase the lee helm so caution is necessary. The use of a small boom vang is really a bonus for down wind runs and I highly recommend it's use. I've also found that an electric trolling motor is excellent for getting into and out of tight manuevering scenarios and will push this little boat at a nice clip which approaches it's theoretical hull speed of about 3.9 knts.

lil red dog. Hull #348. My dad was the orignal owner. Restored in 1995, replaced original lt blue and white sail, with a red white and black sail. Replaced original rudder in 2004, with marine grade plywood. Sail local lakes in the Brighton, Mi area. Learned to sail in this boat, and teaching my gandaughters to sail. A fun and easy sailboat to sail.

I am still not sure of the year. The plaque says Hull Number 647 I found her up in the Connecticut woods in 1988 and paid a nominal price to the owner. I restored her the first time on a shoestring budget. I made a new, slightly higher profile rudder which improved handling,if not grounding ability. This year I started over with much higher goals. The second restoration is almost complete. "Firecracker" now has a navy blue hull and cream interior. I added a canvas rub rail (from Hamilton Marine) The lifting eyes were done by Ohio boatworks and could probably handle a 1000 lb boat. I love the boat; we used it as a tender to my Morgan 32 until 1998 when we (temporarily) left boating. My children all learned to row and sail on it now but now that they are grown it was fitting to have her restored to match her new, more staid, duties as a tender to our new vessel. Purchased CD 10 #1161 today from a consignment broker. It appears to be in good repair, may even have had some restoration. Saw it while driving by - made a u-turn and was immediately smitten. Was told the owner had died. I would have liked to complement him on his work and shake that skillful hand.

My father bought a Cape Dory 10 years and years ago, and he gave it to me. I have never used it. It has been under cover and on a trailer for at least 20 years. It has a hull number of 1823. I also have the oars and sailing rig. I may want to sell it, but I have no idea what it might be worth.

Orcadory, built in West Bridgewater, Mass., hull #2193. Ser.#2193M78B,Currently serving as my tender aboard S/V Orca(42'Whitby Ketch) She has been totally restored to new condition, hull has bottom paint to prevent marine growth original, britework & spars ,new sail ,Schurr Sails ,P'cola Fl.,Red /white w/CD insigna.,Some hints about sailing the CD10 ,she is tender with board up,while boarding ,I always keep the board down unless sailing downwind,If you should turtle ,it is helpful to have a float at the mast head., I found that attaching a swimming pool float is sufficient, light wind sailing is very relaxing , but stay on your toes for high winds. Happy sailing!!!!!!!

Hull Number 232. I inherited her from my cousin. She has been sitting bottom up on a set of saw horses in Branford, CT for quite a while. It appears I have all the rigging and sails but she needs some attention to the wood and resetting/resealing flotation areas.

GINGER. I am guessingon the date I found her under a pile of rotten pine boards in a collapsed tobacco barn, completely full of leaves and mud and water. All the wood trim pretty well beyond salvaging. Found the owner by tracing the reg. #. They had put her in the barn in the early eighties and forgotten about her. They still had the spars and sail in their attic. I bought it for a song and am presently restoring. New gunwales, seats, rudder and tiller, bresthook, transom caprail, floor boards all in dark tulip poplar coated with clear epoxy and polyurathane clearcoat. Stabilized the badly crazed gal-coat with a high-solids epoxy sanding primer and will use a two part polyester for the final coats as soon as the weather warms up a little. I also Have a 26 ft. wooden gaff cat ketch dory named the MARYANN and cruise the Big Bend-Appalachicola Bay area. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience with this boat. Thanks! L

I bought my CD 14 in May 2008 in Factoryville, PA. Hull #409, not sure of the year. She was in very good shape. She now lives full time at my cottage on Lake Kewanee near Dalton PA. I have been enjoying her for the past two years and hope to teach my grand daughter to sail on her. I find her a fun, stable and responsive boat that I enjoy greatly. Thanks jeff_cornell@comcast.net
