67		The Sundering The Sundering shattered the Liber Malleus. When Guilliman uncovered their status as an all-Firstborn Chapter—sustained by a forgotten oversight—he demanded conformity: cross the Rubicon or embark on a penitent crusade. But the Chapter splintered under the weight of this decree. A third path was chosen by a defiant few: rebellion. Fleeing into the Maelstrom, this rogue force—now called the Unbound—escaped both Ultramarine wrath and loyalist pursuit, though at great cost. Only 50 loyal Astartes and 50 renegades remained. The Unbound returned warped but not corrupted, wielding arcane weapons and Terminator plate, unbound by loyalty to any god. In response, the loyalists donned their own sacred suits, bracing themselves on the Maelstrom’s edge for the day their former brothers return. Whoever wins, wins the Liber Malleus…. The Reforged The Reforge is what remains of the loyalist Liber Malleus—fifty battle-hardened Astartes clad in sacred Terminator armor, each a living relic of the Chapter’s legacy. Decreed by Guilliman himself, they are forbidden from inducting new recruits until their traitor kin, the Unbound, are destroyed. In defiance of despair and as a symbol of their rebirth, they have repainted their once-drab grey armor in blazing orange and black—colors chosen to mark the reforging of broken brotherhood into a single, searing oath of vengeance. Cut off from renewal, these warriors have become weapons of singular purpose—unyielding, unrelenting, and sharpened by betrayal. They burn not with hate, but with clarity; their oaths reforged in fire and silence. When the Reforge strikes, it is not out of rage, but with the cold, precise fury of a blade made to end a brother's war. The Unbound The Unbound are the severed soul of the Liber Malleus—those who turned from Imperium and oath, embracing not servitude to the Chaos Gods, but the raw, unshackled power of the warp itself. Following the creed of Chaos Unbound, they do not kneel to daemons or dark patrons, but wield the warp as a tool to fuel their strength, extend their lives, and bend reality to their will. Before their escape into the Maelstrom, they ransacked the Chapter’s deepest vaults, stealing countless relics and prized suits of Terminator armor, ensuring their elite would not only be feared, but revered. Now, they pursue power and freedom in equal measure—and to them, true freedom can only begin with the death of their loyalist kin
