IntroductionThis document details the ideal viewing and reading order of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel TV and comic series. Multiple episode/issue story arcs, including those that involve crossovers between the two series have been ordered to allow better narrative flow whilst preserving the original airing/publication order where possible. Judgements made to this effect are based on the opinion of the author of this document.
2
Supplemental ComicsSupplemental comic titles were published concurrent with the original TV airing. Whilst not considered canon, some titles had involvement from Buffy alumni, both writers and actors, and expand on events not seen in the TV episodes. They may be considered additional material to be read following the conclusion of each TV season.
3
Post TV Comic ContinuationDuring the original airing of Buffy and Angel and following their conclusion several spin off projects were considered, including a Buffy animated series, a Faith series, a Ripper series and several film continuations. None ever came to fruition, though canonical continuations of both Buffy and Angel were eventually produced in comic form with direct involvement from series creator Joss Whedon. The comic series is currently ongoing with no definite end announced.
4
A Note About CanonWhat constitutes canon is a contentious issue amongst fans of the series. It is the opinion of the author of this document that all titles produced with the direct involvement of series creator Joss Whedon are to be considered canon with minor exceptions. Titles in bold fall under this definition unless noted otherwise.
