4	1. Read printed, physical text. Use an index card, finger, pencil, yellow crayon or reading tracker to track the text as you read.	1. Use storycubes to invent and tell stories, using picture symbols as meaning cues to direct your construction of the story.	1. Keep a journal. Set a goal of writing 5-10 minutes in your journal each day. If your child does not yet know how to write, encourage them to draw pictures and talk to you about their drawings.

Decodable books: If your child knows how to read simple, short vowel words, print and read decodable K-1 books from this library, or read other decodable books, such as the books for beginning readers from phonicbooks.com. If your child does not yet know how to read simple, short vowel words, you can read books to your child.

7			2. Play the Don't Be Greedy game to practice reading CVC words (such as dog, sit, fun). When you are ready for a greater challenge, try the Talisman card games sets 1-10.
