2018-Aug-08Chips batch 1Apero18020Carrefour's potatoes designated for chips, peeled and cut like normal homemade chips. 1 tablespoon sunflower oil. Lightly salted. Not half bad. Quite crispy. Browned at the edges. Quite an oily appearance but didn't taste so and not much oil came off on the kitchen paper that I turned them out onto. See photo

2018-Aug-09Prawn CrackersApero2002around 1 tsp of oil added to fully coatPuffed better than expected. Did not enjoy but may not be a fair test as it could have been the crackers themselves that wer enot very nice.

2018-Aug-10Chips batch 2Apero20018Same potatoes as B1, skin on, cut somewhat thinner. 1 tablespoon olive oil. Lightly salted. Better colour, flavour and crispness than batch 1. Also somewhat greasy in appearance.
5
2018-Aug-13Chips batch 3Apero20020Potatoes as B1. 1 tablespoon duck fat. Lightly salted. A softer chip, browner, more flavourful. Greasy-looking but very enjoyable
6
2018-Aug-14Chicken breast filletsMain15012Pre-pepared marinaded fillets from Grand Frais, quite small, quite thinBrowned lightly about the edges. If anything, rather over cooked. Further experimentation indicated.
7
2018-Aug-15Pain au Chocolat1504From the freezer, not fully thawedExtremely successful - and I liked the ay that the chocolate was not volcanic
8
2018-Aug-16Chips batch 4Side dish with fish20025As for batch 2 but a larger batch, hence the longer timeWill likely settle on the use of olive oil and keep pre-salting. The chip size is right but next time will try halving the quantity of oil.

2018-Aug-17CroissantsBreakfast15035 minutes out of the freezerPretty much perfect
10
2018-Aug-17Thai SausageMain18011No added fat. Unpricked. Set for 15 minutes as per info on www. Checked at 11 minutes and they were more than doneTry shorter cooking time for next batch
11
2018-Aug-19Chips, flavoured 1Apero18022Trialling chips with half a tablespoon of oil. Using Chilli flavoured oil and peeled potatoesLacked flavour. No grease at all on the kitchen paper when I tipped them out. Maybe the extra oil gives the missing flavour or maybe it's just new bag of potatoes not as good as the last.
12
2019-Aug-21Roasted nutsApero1504Tossed in seasoning and a little drizzle of nut oil
13
2018-Aug-25Part-baked Petit PainBread1804Didn't damp them, pre-heated for 2 minutesPerfect, even colour all round. Cooked in one third of the time indicated for an oven
14
2018-Aug-26Italian MeatballsMain18010I made 10 meatballs from 500g mince. It was very lean steak mince. Next time I might add a tsp of oil to the meat. Based them on this recipe https://wineladycooks.com/2018/01/homemade-italian-meatball-air-fryer-recipe/ with a few tweaks Could probably have given them less time. 8 minutes next time.
15
2018-Aug-30Confit DuckMain180/20010Wiped all the fat off with a paper towel. Didn't think it was crisping well enough so turned up to 200 for the final two minutesPerfect results. Crispy skin, moist meat. Delicious
16
2018-Aug-30Baked figsStarter1508Baked in a shallow dish inside the frying basket. 4 Figs stuffed with blue cheese, wrapped in ham10 minutes would have been better. The ham crisped and the cheese melted but the figs could have been slightly softer/warmer

2018-Sep-03Vegetable GratinsSide dish with fish160 +10 +Frozen individual gratins. Box asked for 180C for 20-25 minutes. Centres were still frozen after ten minutes, so raised heat to 180 and gave them 5 minutes longer. At least, I htink that's how it went but the Sangria may have got in the way a bit...Surprisingly good

2018-Nov-14Chicken TikkaMain160/2008/6Cheat's version, using a Patak's marinade. I have the skewers and rack for the air fryer and used those for the first time. Skewered the chicken with diced red pepper. Followed some timings that I found by Googling and they worked very wellReally good! tender chicken, properly bright pink, and nicely charred abut the edges. Served with plain Basmati and a daal. Will certainly make Tikka again and using the jar marinade makes it perfectly achievable in the van.

2018-Nov-18Confit Duck legsMain18012These duck legs were larger than the previous ones and I put them on for a bit longer because of that, planning 25 minutes. When checked after almost fifteen, they were clearly done.Obviously not all confit duck is equal.

Using the Air fryer for all the stages made things simple and kept down smells.

2018-Dec-27Marinated chicken breasts with grilled peppers https://www.woolgathering.org.uk/2019/01/air-fryer-catch-up/MainCooked in the van. Peppers tossed in oil, cooked at 200 degrees unti softened and slightly charred. Whilst they were colling off in a bath of garlicky oil, the chicken went in to cook.Failed to record any details but was delicious

2018-Dec-31Fried new potatoes https://www.woolgathering.org.uk/2019/01/air-fryer-catch-up/Side20010Cooked in the van. Small new potatoes, sliced into 4 per. Soaked, dried, oiled and salted as for chips.Lovely and crispy and cooked in around 10 minutes. Served with Coq au Vin made in the Mr D's Thermal Cooker

2018-Dec-31Chocolate Fondants https://www.woolgathering.org.uk/2019/01/air-fryer-catch-up/Dessert1808Based on the "Perfect" recipe from Felicity Cloake in The Guardian, I dropped the temperature by 20 degrees an dplanned to cook initially for ten minutes instead of the oven-based time of 14 minutes. However I took them out when the chocolate showed signs of charring after 8 minutesWell, they were runny alright. Almost too much so and would have benefited from a greater spongey part. next time I would drop the temperature another ten degrees and leave the puds in for a little longer.
