Types of Mold... We baked bread in class and cut 4 slices. Then we took 4 slices of store bought, name brand bread. Then we separated them into two groups, Baked and Bought. In each baggie we placed one slice of bread. One was the control. One we all touched with dirty hands. One we touched with hand sanitized hands. One the teacher licked. We did this with both groups. We placed them all in separate baggies and taped them to the board to observe the different reactions. The results were amazing and it was a jump off for different types of food.

Sixth, SeventhTeacher LedClassroom Lesson28
We explored the problem of single-use plastic and ocean health, as well as strategies for recycling and repurposing items to reduce waste (e.g., trash to treasure). The weekly presentation slides attached here represent five (5) days worth of lessons including learning intentions and success criteria, videos and instructional materials, and student work materials.
This was a teacher-developed mini-unit using a variety of resources, many of which came from my Action Scholastic subscription.

Ecosystems:
Most living things don’t have it as easy as our pets and houseplants. In the wild, organisms have to find what they need in their ecosystem. That’s a group of living things interacting with one another and their environment. Each organism needs a habitat with the right conditions for its species. Thousands of species can live in one ecosystem. When different populations of different species interact, they form a community—but it's not always neighborly! Organisms have to compete for limited resources, and carve out a place for themselves—a niche—in the ecosystem. They have to find food if they’re consumers, or find energy to make food if they’re producers. Decomposers take a totally different approach, and break down waste such as dead organisms. It’s part of the cycling of matter, like carbon. Lately, human actions have disrupted this process, leading to climate change. Press "play" to discover how ecosystems support life on Earth!
