2022-01-02Pat ConroyShortlandShortlandNSWLabor4.4Reversing spending cuts to after-hours health servicesLABOR WILL SAVE THE HUNTERS GP ACCESS AFTER HOURS It was wonderful to be in Newcastle with my Federal Labor colleagues to hear Anthony Albanese make some fantastic announcements for our region, including that Labor will reverse the Morrison-Joyce Governments cuts to our regions GP Access After Hours service. This is a vital service, and I have spoken to so many people - doctors and patients - over the last few months who have been disgusted with the cuts that came into effect at the end of 2021. This service sees 50,000 patients a year and provides 70,000 telephone consultations, alleviates pressure on overstretched hospitals and has been estimated to save the broader health system almost $22 million per year. Labor understands how important Medicare and GP Access After Hours service is, and we will protect it.TRUEhealthSignificant national, state or multi-electorate funding

The Federal Government is helping to make this year's event the best yet, thanks to a $13,850 grant! This week, I caught up with Festival Director Carmen Nieves, Treasurer Dr. Jonathan Byrnes, and Orange-born Violinist Rachael Kwa. Rachael will be performing on day 2 of the Festival alongside American harpist Emily Granger in a performance titled 'Fantasie.' It was wonderful to hear about Rachael's passion for the violin (and to hear her play!) She hopes to inspire other young local musicians to light up stages across the central west, and beyond, by pursuing a career in music. Tickets to this years four-day event, kicking off on April 28, are already selling out so if you're a fan of classical music, don't delay! The funding will be used to construct two new bedrooms, increasing its capacity from three to five beds. A second lounge room, an administrative area and storage room will also be added. This will enable Katie Rose Cottage Hospice to extend its services to more people, so that 20 additional people each year can be accommodated and provided with dedicated, professional and compassionate care, in a comfortable home environment. Katie Rose Cottage Hospice is run by the community for the community. Everyone there invests their time, skills and energy to give personalised, respectful and supportive end of life care, in a range of ways, including providing direct care, cooking and cleaning, and maintaining and creating new spaces to relax in the beautiful landscaped gardens. Its through the work of Chairperson Carol Raye and her committee, the palliative doctors, nurses and carers, more than 230 volunteers, and generous community donors who contribute around 80 per cent of the operational costs, that the hospice is able to serve local residents and their families and friends. Federal and NSW Labor will commit $25 million to an Emergency Operations Precinct in Moruya, including a much needed Emergency Operations Centre. 2022-01-28Sharon ClaydonNewcastleNewcastleNSWCoalition13.8Well done Newcastle - after nine long years of asking, the Federal Government has finally delivered modest support for the expansion of the Newcastle Art Gallery. The final piece of the funding puzzle is now in place so that we can get the gallery we need and deserve. Massive thanks to the Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation for their contribution of $10 million towards the project, along with a commitment to additional community fundraising of $2.5 million; the City of Newcastle for its substantial contribution of $16.2 million and the Margaret Olley Art Trust for its gift of $0.5 million. Additional thanks must go to the Newcastle Art Gallery Expansion Working Party, the Newcastle Art Gallery Society, the Gallery Director Lauretta Morton OAM and the people of Newcastle, who never gave up. This announcement of $5 million from the Federal Government today goes some way to restoring the $7 million that the Gillard Labor government provided for this project back in 2011. Tragically plans for the art gallery expansion were kiboshed shortly after Labors commitment was made, forcing the funds to be diverted to the Glendale Interchange project in 2013 instead. 2022-02-03Michelle LandryCapricorniaCapricorniaQLDCoalition12.4Money for a replacement bridgeThe Liberal and Nationals Government is committing $14.4 million to replace the Phillips Creek Bridge on Saraji Road, pending a funding agreement being reached with the Queensland Labor state government. I'm so pleased to have fought for and secured this funding commitment! A replacement bridge will support year-round access for the benefit of the businesses that depend on this key freight route. These improvements to safety and year-round accessibility would help our area to grow and prosper. The project would also provide an important economic boost for local communities, supporting an expected 42 jobs during construction and helping drive our regions economic recovery. It is a key link between Dysart and Moranbah, and mining businesses in the region rely heavily on the route to get their products to market. Flooding closes the Phillips Creek Bridge periodically throughout the year, costing businesses millions and causing frustrating delays for motorists. A replacement bridge would make the highway safer, more flood resilient and keep motorists and freight moving. The Federal Government is committed to investing $14.4 million (80 per cent) in the $18 million project. The Museum also gives visitors a chance to stroll back to 1887, with a wander around a cottage built by a son for this mother 135 years ago. The wonderful exhibits and experiences to be had at the Oberon and District Museum are only possible thanks to the care, creativity and commitment of the Museums team of volunteers, who throw open the doors in the morning, lock up at night, and do everything in between! That's why I'm thrilled the Museum has received two Federal Government grants totalling $9,250! 2022-02-08Llew ObrienWide BayWide BayQLDCoalition13.1Grant for disability support facilityIf the measure of a community is how it treats its sick, disabled and dying, then Noosa should be commended. It has two unique places that are treasured safe havens for those that are ignored or worse in less-fortunate corners of the world. Sunshine Butterflies, a disability support charity, and Katie Rose Hospice, which cares for people navigating their final phase of life, are community-driven, not-for-profits, valued by the Noosa communities who donate to them, fundraise for them, and volunteer there. When it comes to government support, none are more deserving. Thats why the Morrison Joyce Government announced $1.5 million to extend Katie Rose Cottage Hospice so that more terminally-ill people, and their families, navigating the final stage of their lives can be supported. Its where the dying share their final moments with their families and friends in a comfortable home environment with dedicated, professional and compassionate care. The difference is that the dying mother at Katie Rose can watch her children playing around her, swimming in the pool, and exploring the garden, rather than being alone in a cold hospital room. That a dying father can eat a home-cooked meal and share a room with his wife on his last night. The bereaved who Katie Rose Cottage supported could not speak more highly of it because they had help during one of the most challenging times of their lives. Our commitment to Katie Rose Cottage Hospice will mean up to 20 more Sunshine Coast residents approaching the end of their life can access the level and type of care they need in their final weeks and months. While Katie Rose cares for the dying and their families, Sunshine Butterflies changes the lives of individuals living with disabilities and their families. Their vibrant home base, Our Backyard at Cooroibah, will now feature an accessible playground, caf, and stage roof over an accessible stage with the help of a $135,000 grant from the Morrison Joyce Government. Its a place that delights children of all ages with their music, colour and movement, chooks, ponies and peacocks, and now they will have a playground where no child, no matter their disability, will be excluded from. 2022-02-15Andrew GeeCalareCalareNSWCoalition13.3Funding for new water infrastructureFarmers and residents across the Central Tablelands region of New South Wales could soon have better access to the water they need to support and grow their businesses. The Australian and New South Wales governments have committed $6 million to undertake a business case into the construction of a 10 kilometre pipeline between Lake Rowlands and Carcoar Dam, as well as options to raise the existing Lake Rowlands Dam or construct a new dam downstream. The proposed new Lake Rowlands Dam would increase existing water storage capacity from 4 gigalitres up to between 8.5 gigalitres and 30 gigalitres, while the new Lake Rowlands to Carcoar Dam pipeline would enable transferring 25 megalitres of water per day. This would increase the availability, reliability, efficiency and quality of water for agricultural and primary industry use in the Lachlan Valley. Ive been pushing for this pipeline and upgrade for Lake Rowlands for a long time and have even hosted Central Tablelands Water at Parliament House in Canberra. The business case is a crucial step in bringing these projects to life. It will guide the action we take to support these initiatives and the future water security of this region. A new dam wall at Lake Rowlands is a very bright hope for a new dam project in our area. Were doing the groundwork now to ensure farmers and communities across the Central Tablelands can access the water they need, when they need it. 2022-02-21Andrew GeeCalareCalareNSWCoalition13.3 On the second Saturday of each month, members of the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak are up at the crack of dawn setting up the Orange Farmers Market. It was great to catch up with the Club at the February market to check out their new pantech truck, a moving-van-like vehicle which contains everything the group need to set-up the market - like tables, chairs, gazebos, bunting and fencing! Supported by a $10,000 Federal Government grant, the group were able to get the cab and chassis - which had seen better days! - replaced with a brand new parts. The upgrades mean the group can hit the road in the truck to help other Rotary Clubs across the region hold fundraising events, like at Molong, Forbes and Lake Cargelligo. Great stuff, folks!Photos from Andrew Gee MP's postTRUEcommunityLocal discretionary funding10,000

2022-02-21David GillespieLyneLyneNSWCoalition15.2$59,485 of Federal funding is on the way to Rollands Plains Hall. The hall has been designated a NSW RFS Neighbourhood Safer Place. A Neighbourhood Safer Place is a location where people can gather and seek shelter during a bushfire. To ensure Rollands Plains Hall can appropriately accommodate evacuees, the Federal Government is funding the construction of a new outdoor eating and meeting area. This will ensure the Rollands Plains community is able to brave any emergency.
