Acrylic Painting They will explore all techniques using the image of their choice, which will give them freedom in finding their subject matter that inspires them and motivates them in class. Please note that classes are not a repeat from last semester and they do not have prerequisites.

Advanced Cupcake and Cake Decorating Let's continue our exploration of all things cake by learning more advanced techniques including multi-tiered cakes, covering cakes with fondant, and using popular decoration ingredients in more advanced ways. Students will also learn the business aspects of cake decorating including cost analysis and marketing. Prerequisites: Intro to cake decorating

Advanced Piano Keyboards Take your piano skills to the next level! In Advanced Piano/Keyboard Class, students deepen their musical abilities through more challenging repertoire and refined technique. Lessons focus on mastering more complex rhythms, exploring extended scales and chords, improving sight-reading, and developing confident hand coordination.

Beginner Latin Learning Latin is a powerful way to improve spelling, reading and grammar. 60% of English is built with Latin roots, and learning Latin prepares your child to understand grammar concepts with ease. Latin is an essential subject!

Beginning Illustration A picture is worth a thousand words, it is said! In this class, we will learn how to turn words into pictures. We will learn about scene composition, thumbnail sketching, and tricks to adequately copy, shade, and translate descriptions.

Book Club Kids enjoy sharing their love for books with their friends. This Book Club will allow them to swap stories and book ideas. It is a great opportunity to discover new books or book series and talk about it. We will choose a specific book to read.

The Career Toolkit: Careers, Trades & Entrepreneurship
This course is designed to help students build strong work ethic habits that carry into school, home, and real-world career environments. Each week focuses on a specific professional skill; such as reliability, integrity, attitude, verbal and non-verbal communication, or teamwork. Students then go on to apply this theme/skill in their on-campus volunteer placement, practicing what they learn in a real world setting right away. The class emphasizes growth, practical skill-building, and learning how to show up as your best self every day.

Ceramic and Sculptures: Hand BuildingIn this calming, creativity centered clay class, students explore the art of Ceramic hand building while developing focus and confidence. Using low fire clay, young artists learn essential techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab techniques while creative functional and decorative forms.

Chess and Other Logic GamesChess is a great workout for the mind utilizing continuous problem-solving with changing conditions. This class will include some simple games to introduce them to the game of chess, or sharpen the student’s strategic abilities if they already know how to play. Students learn to think ahead, evaluate multiple alternatives, and anticipate consequences.

Digital Empire: 0 A.D. World Building In this real-time strategy class, students build ancient cities, manage resources, and explore historical civilizations through the kid-safe game 0 A.D. They'll develop time management, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills while having fun creating and defending their own empires. It’s a great mix of history, planning, and teamwork.

Drawing: Animal Anatomy Animal anatomy is such a broad topic - so we will be focusing on three animal types this semester! We will study Equine, Canine, and Avian anatomy, and learn how to apply what we learn to any drawings we may make in the future. We will study skeletal structures, muscle arrangement, skin, fur, and feathers.

Entrepreneurship In this hands on entrepreneurship course, students will learn how to turn their unique ideas and talents into real sellable products. They will explore the fundamentals of starting a small business; from identifying customer needs, to developing a brand, to creating a simple but effective business model. Students will work through each stage of the entrepreneurial process and the class will culminate at the end-of-the-school-year Makers Market where they will launch their business, showcase their product, and gain firsthand experience selling to real customers. This course emphasizes creativity, problem solving, teamwork, and practical business skills; giving students the confidence and tools to bring their ideas to life!

Ev3 Robotic The EV3 Mindstorms Robotics class introduces students to the fundamentals of robotics through hands-on building and programming activities. Students work with LEGO EV3 components to design, construct, and code functional robots while learning core concepts in engineering, problem-solving, and computational thinking.

Fantasy World BuildingCalling all writers! If you're writing a book, you've probably run into the giant, looming monster of worldbuilding. Where do you start? How far do you go? Can you refine it? What works, and what doesn't? This class will, I hope, answer ALL those questions. By the end of this 12-week course, you should have a beautifully structured world, ready to be written about and shown to the world.

Fantasy Writing If you're a fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, dystopian, or apocalyptic writer, this class is built for you. Writing a story is hard work, and fantasy writing is on another level! In this class, we will study the great fantasy/thriller/dystopian writers of our day and the days past, and apply their incredible knowledge to our own writing. From grammar to pacing, to character introduction, we will turn our drafts into true novels.

FarmStep into the rhythm of farm life in this immersive 4-hour program designed to connect students with nature, animals, and sustainable living. Through hands-on experiences and guided exploration, students will gain a deeper understanding of where food comes from and how to care for animals. Each session includes a balanced mix of nature-based crafts, cooking, animal interaction and ecological education, allowing students to learn by doing—alongside our educators.

Farm LAB: AgriScience and Bio-EngineeringFarm Lab transforms the science classroom into an integrated bio-engineering workshop, bridging the gap between agriculture, chemistry, and human biology. Students will explore fundamental Structure and Function principles by working with raw farm ingredients and mammalian organ systems. This project-based course requires students to create, measure, dissect, and analyze the scientific processes that convert simple materials (milk, flour, grains) into complex food products and biological systems.

Fashion Design Students will learn the basics of fashion design and draping. We will create a mood board with a line of designs the students will create over the semester. I would love to include a field trip day to the fabric store for swatches. Students will create an original design in miniature. Students will have the opportunity to enter their design at the San Diego county fair in the Student Showcase division. Previous sewing experience suggested.

Focus on Fine Motor Skills Designed to help children develop critical muscle movements through fun, engaging activities such as drawing, cutting, building with blocks, and using playdough. Children will strengthen their hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and control. Grammar Castle and the Kingdom of Writing Step into a magical land where words have power! In Grammar Castle & Kingdom Writing, students explore the royal realms of sentences, stories, and creative expression. Each week, young writers train as “language knights” and “story builders” as they conquer grammar quests, strengthen sentence structure, and craft imaginative tales set in kingdoms of their own design.

Groovy Grammar Making Grammar fun, we will use hand motions, repetition, games, and sentence parsing to learn parts of speech. Students will label jobs of words in sentences, understand what makes a complete sentence, and learn the mechanics of verb conjugations. We will review appropriate punctuation and capitalization rules. Groovy!

High School: Spanish 101 Palomar This 14 week course will serve as preparation for Palomar College Spanish 101. Students may choose to enroll in this High School preparation class the first semester and enroll into the Palomar College class the second semester. This class has a heavy focus on Spanish grammar - especially verb conjugations - as well as vocabulary memorization. We will use the same curriculum (Vistas Spanish) used by the college and work our way through the lessons. Each week we will examine new vocabulary and grammar, listen to Spanish conversations and videos, as well as examine culture, politics, and news of the hispanic communities of Central and South America. Students will have homework assignments that consist of worksheets and writing Spanish sentences or paragraphs. In this two semester course we will begin with the inception of the United States from colonial times to the American Revolution. We will look at the Industrial Revolution to modern times. Interactive SpanishIn this class students will increase their vocabulary by exploring daily scenarios in a pretend role play like ordering food in a restaurant, traveling, cooking, playing house, storekeeper, grocery shopping, etc... We will have physical objects to make an easy connection to what we are talking. This interaction will push the students to use what they already know and to learn new complete sentences. We will use some worksheets during class as an introduction to our role play scenery so parents have information of what we are doing in class. Most of the work at school will be verbal work.

Intro to Stage Tech Participants will explore basic lighting and sound design, learn how to handle equipment safely, assist with set pieces, and understand the teamwork required to run a smooth production. Odyssey 1-2 Odyssey 1-2: This will be a second grade class with first grade review. Odyssey is an enrichment program created to supplement or complement what you do at home. In an environment where kids can thrive while spending time with friends. Learning Math and ELA through Montessori style games, discussion, and art, with a sprinkle of Social Emotional Education as well as Social Studies. We put a special emphasis on encouraging decision-making skills, and cultivating positive peer interaction through play-based learning.

Children learn essential skills such as color blending, shading, resist techniques, and expressive brushwork while completing fun projects inspired by landscapes, animals, abstract design and still life.

Fundamentals include ways of movement—running, skipping, hopping, dodging—and other basic skills, such as catching, dribbling, passing, and throwing. Sometimes these things seem so obvious, we forget that kids need to learn and practice them. Some of the sports that we will explore are the usual basketball, football but we will also introduce lawn hockey and disk golf.
