GRFP winners from undergrad may make 34K on reserve, GRFP winners from 1st or 2nd year make 20.5K on reserve.

Florida Atlantic UniversityBiology$6,000 annually is taken out of my $34,000 stipend and is put into a research account to support research costs, travel support, and publication costs. Leaving my stipend at $28,000 per year. Not included, but they pay for the remainder of the subsidized health insurance fee with the CoE. Dental and vision not included. Can be ~$1,000 per semester but is covered by my CoE allowance.$24,000 off GRFP, $28,000 on GRFP$4,000YesIn-state tuition and fees are $6,693 and out-of-state tuition and fees are $18,482. Tuition waivers offered for RAs and TAs.We have no graduate student union, no extra awards or raises for GRFP recipients, every year my university has issues handling the funding especially in making sure there is no gaps in funding prior to the next fiscal year's allocation. I have to do a lot of internal paperwork annually regarding this fellowship and in general the admin feels that they do not have much experience administering these types of grant and do not receive help from NSF or the GRFP program.
