For Beginner or possibly beyond (alot of reading incoming)
Since there are so many new players joining BDO lately and burning up our servers. Many have questions about how to make money passively while AFK.
Many guides out there will tell you the basic and tell you to figure things out for yourselves.
This guide will "step by step" hold your hand on how to build a worker empire from the ground up. This is an all in one guide but require alot of reading so be prepare. If you dont like reading this then youre in a lot of pain later on.
This is based off my own set up so if there is anyone with a more efficient set up and better optimization for your worker then thats great. Please make your own guide, but this is what works for me and I will probably change some stuff in the future but too lazy to do that now.
THIS GUIDE WILL BE MOSTLY FOCUS ON PROCESSING, COOKING AND HOW TO GET TO AN END GOAL OF M2+ TRADING. IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN PROCESSING AS YOUR MAIN PASSIVE INCOME AND WANT TO DO OTHER STUFF THEN THIS ISNT FOR YOU.
STEP 1: PREPARATION
Read before going to Step 2
1. To be able to have a worker empire, you need Contribution Points (CP) and lots of it.
2. Reset all your CP and return them to you. The worst thing you can do is invest your CP somewhere and not know where it is, and avoid confusing yourselves. Always note down where your CP
(You can see where you are investing them in by hovering over their icon next to your level.)
3. Decide on a main city. You will start out by investing on nearly area to that city and expand as you get more CP.
are to keep better track of your progress.
STEP 2: BASICS
Have a good understanding before moving to Step 3
Contribution Points (CP)
What is contribution points and how do I get them?
Contribution is a numerical value based of your progress in the game.
There are two (2) basic way to get contribution:
1. Quests in general (Most quest in game will give you big CP Exp)
2. Cooking (Their by-product give you CP)
Workers and Their Uses
Workers are essentially virtual slaves fuel by a thirst for beers.
They will go to a designated node and start "working" on them to gather material for you and place them in your storage.
They have stamina and will stop working once they are out of stamina. You can feed them beer to recharge them. This is where most of your cooking will come from.
They are city bound (which mean they are station in that city and will bring material back to that city only)
IF YOU RUN OUT OF LODGING SPACE FOR YOUR WORKER YOU NEED TO BUY LODGING SPACES IN THE CITY WITH YOUR CP.
You can hire a worker for that city by going to the worker supervisor in that city. You can either use 5 energy to hire one worker or buy them from other player. All option are at the supervisor.
There are three type of worker:
1. Goblin - C-Rank stamina but A-rank work speed and A-rank movement (For short term AFK. You need to come back every few hours to feed them.)
The following website is for worker lodging optimization. Look for your
2. Human - B-Rank stamina, B-rank work speed and B-rank movement.(Jack of all trade worker. Good for general purposes.)
city and decide on which house will be the cheapest option while
3. Giants - A-Rank stamina, C-Rank Work speed, C-rank Movement (For long term AFK, you can practically afk for whole day w/o it stopping)
yield the most worker space.
All worker can be "promoted" which will bring their tier up and their stats will increase. White > Green > Skilled > Professional > Artisan(best)
Workers have multiple uses, they can gather node material for you or work at a work shop inside your city to make various items.
Try to get all skill+ worker by rerolling for it or buy it for your city. Green and below are very very bad worker and are not worth it.
What are nodes?
Nodes are basically locations on the map you can invest your contribution points to establish trade routes and resources that your workers can gather for you. (Dulfy)
You can send worker from any city to a certain node as long as those nodes are connected. Would not recommend doing that though due to distance making collecting material much much slower.
If you want to read more on nodes and worker, Dulfy have a great guide on them. I can talk hours about node but they probably explain it better:
Here is the top 10 node you can invest in while accumulating your CP:
(I do find these node less impactful if you are big enough to start an empire, you can use your CP wiser, recommend only for beginner.)
STEP 3: Accumulating CP
Need a very good understanding before continuing.
Now, how do I get a lot of CP you ask?
Getting more Contribution Points can seem a lot of work and youre right, they are but not if you are patient and do it efficiently. They are very valuable in return.
1. The first way you can alot of CP is doing quests. Specifically the black spirit main storyline. There are multiple parts to the storyline and currently, it is up to Valencia Part II.
I highly highly recommend you get those quest done first and up to Valencia II (If youre new then up to Mediah II is okay). Not only the quest give you good inventory expansion but also alot of blackstone and 2 +7 AP ring
This can take somewhere around 2 days to a week depending how much you do in a day. They can be tediously boring but the tradeoff is good (Can break 250 CP if you do it from 210)
There are also daily quest you can do to get alot of contribution EXP. These are in cities like valencia and calpheon and can net you a very big boost in CP if you do them daily.
A friend get around 6-7 CP per day starting at 50 CP from doing a 15 minute daily rotation.
A good rotation that you should do everyday is this one:
I still do them even with 280+ CP. It should be very good exp up until 255 CP
2. The 2nd way is to cook, and alot of it. This should come after doing most of your main quest and you have some CP from the main quest to invest.
// See Step 4
This method require you to have some workers as well as some CP for Grain Nodes //SEE NEXT PAGE FOR GRAIN NODE SET UP
By getting grain (Cereal) nodes, you can start making beers, which will fuel your workers.
While cooking, they will give you BY-PRODUCTS which you can turn in for alot of CP EXP.
Here is a very good guide to get you into cooking for by-products:
WHATEVER METHODS YOU USE, TO START AN EFFICIENT EMPIRE, ID RECOMMEND ATLEAST 150+ CP TO START. WHAT COMES AFTER THIS PART WILL ASSUME YOU HAVE 100+ CP.
Getting 150 CP is not very hard in the least. Please dont be lazy about it.
STEP 4: Investing Grain Nodes and Make Beers
Now its the time to start investing your CP into nodes, but what should come first?
It is very important to maintain and keep a good supply of grain coming into your storage everyday.
With grains, you are able to make beers where you can supply and recharge your workers and always keep your empire working for you.
NEVER sell your beers, keep them in your storage for your worker. You will need a lot of them later on. On average, I go through 7-10k beer every week.
Making beer is very easy, I recommend you getting a TOOL WORKSHOP and make Advance Cooking Utensil for longer afk time and lower cooking time.
Please see Step 3 for more info on cooking beers. Watch the videos.
Investing in these node are very easy. On page 2 of this guide (Tab on the bottom) You would see a "Grain" tab. These node are nodes that are the most efficient for your CP usage in my opinion.
All you need to do is use the website provided (Somethinglovely.net) and connect these node to the starting city and send your worker there.
STEP 5: Investing Timber Nodes
At this point of the game, you should have already done all your main quest(To the best of your ability) + 4 Grain nodes + Cook a ton already. A week or two probably have already passed.
You have a ton of beer and 150+ CP. What now?
These are your main income from your worker empire. And you should only send skill+ workers to these nodes. Anything below are not worth it as stated above.
You should also try to upgrade your worker to professional and artisan when they are level 25+. Have an extra worker slot and while you promote your current worker, you can put the new worker on the node to keep material coming.
Same as Grain nodes, there is a page for Timber Node optimization on the next page on the bottom tab. Look over it, invest in what is written there and send worker to get your materials.
If you have a small CP pool and cannot get everything stated in there. Start by investing in the one that is near your main city and expand as you collect more Contribution Points.
Feed your worker regularly. If you are at work and have access to a computer, use remote access to feed your worker in less than 30 seconds.
Feed your worker before you go to bed.
STEP 6: Investing ORE Nodes
