136Introduction to
Sources of Strength
Erin Horn
Sources of Strength
6:35-7:05 OR 7:15-7:50Sources of Strength:Forest Hills secondary buildings (7-12) will be transitioning from the Hope Squad program to another peer-led wellness and suicide-prevention program called Sources of Strength. The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent adverse outcomes for students by increasing wellbeing, help-seeking, resiliency, healthy coping, and belonging. Sources of Strength does not singularly focus on identifying risk-factors and crisis-intervention, but rather emphasizes using an upstream approach for youth suicide prevention. This upstream model helps young people build multiple systems of support (protective factors) so that when times get hard, they have strengths to rely on.
