The mission of the Pleasant Valley Community School District as a premier innovative district in the Midwest is to prepare students to succeed in a diverse, global society by providing superior quality opportunities in a safe environment for each student to become a life-long learner and by continuously improving and customizing the educational experience.

Implementation of the universal constructs (critical thinking; complex communication; creativity; collaboration; flexibility and adaptability; and productivity and accountabiity) will build the skills and habits student will need for success in careers, college and citizenry.

To implement the Authentic Intellectual Work(AIW) framework to strengthen the relationship between instruction and learning to allow students to develop higher order thinking, demonstrate complex understanding and engage in work that has meaning and value beyond school.

Through the implementaiton of Habits of Mind (HOM) and Habits of Interaction (HOI) teachers will create a classroom where students are collaboratively engaged in productive thinking and purposeful discourse.

We willl analyze the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Prograss (ISASP) data to provide a clear and accurate assessment of student learning outcomes, student growth, proficiency and readiness indicators and how to adjust our insruction to advance the learning of all students in grade 3-11.

We will analyze the Measures of Acadmic Progress (MAP) to provide clear and accurate assessment of student growth to adjust our instruction to advance the learning of all students in grades 3-10.

Through the implementaiton of and assessment of Early Literacy/FAST (universal screening and progress monitoring) data, interventions will be put in place for all K-6 students to be proficient readers.
