5There is the potential for this amount to change; this amount reflects the estimated five-year total based on year 1 and 2 funding allocations. The amount will be provided by U.S. DOE in increments over five years.

6DOE plans to award funds for this program via two different competitive strategies: a traditional competitive process and a streamlined competitive process for smaller awards on specific topics. Five percent of the total amount will be reserved for administrative costs.

7DOE plans to award funds on an annual basis through 2029. DOE issued a Notice of Intent and Request for Information in Spring of 2023. The IIJA will make available an additional $45 million per year on a 100% competitive basis to partnerships that include states.
