4	Overview	This finding aid provides an inventory of Schwitters' Army Collection of Collage Art at MERZ Gallery and related ephemera. "Art Finding Aid" details the name of the artist and the title, dimensions, materials, and year of the artwork. Each work is assigned an ID number. "Ephemera Finding Aid" lists documents associated with the collection.

8		Item type uses the following codes: ART means Art; LTR means Letter; EMP means Ephemera; ENV means Envelope; BK means Book

10	Usage	The finding aid enables an initial overview of the collection, links to images and additional archive information about the artist when available. It exists so that those interested in the collection can find items in the collection, learn more about the artists, and see examples of artwork from the collection.
11	OVERVIEW
12	What is Schwitters' Army?	The Schwitters' Army Collection of Collage Art at MERZ Gallery is a permanent collection of international collage art curated by Ric Kasini Kadour in January and February 2020. Kadour writes, "Why? Because this is what we do in the collage community: we engage, we exchange, we manifest with one another. We emerge into a new state of being together. That is what makes art powerful. 16	May 2019	Kadour is invited to an Artist Residency at MERZ Gallery in Sanquhar, Scotland.	MERZ Gallery

18	November 2019	In the Fall of 2019, in preparation for a residency at MERZ Gallery in Sanquhar, Scotland, Ric Kasini Kadour invited collage artists "to join me and be part of the manifestation of the international collage community by sending a collage to MERZ Gallery." He published a Call to Artists on his website.	"Schwitters’ Army" by Ric Kasini Kadour

20	December 2019	Kolaj Magazine promoted the Call to Artists on the magazine's website and via social media. Kadour extended personal invites to artists.	"Schwitters’ Army" on Kolaj website

22	December 2019	Emails from collage artists began arriving in mid-December. Packages started arriving at MERZ Gallery on December 19th, 2019.

24	January 2020	By the time Kadour left for Scotland on January 9th, 2020, thirty-one artists had emailed and a dozen packages had arrived at MERZ Gallery.	Instagram Post
