ACTION PLAN
An action plan is a document that lists what steps must be taken in order to achieve a specific goal. The purpose of an action plan is to clarify what resources are required to reach the goal, formulate a timeline for when specific tasks need to be completed and determine what resources are required.

GOAL
The object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. "Reducing traffic related fatalities and serious injuries by 50% by 2030 is the goal of the South Central Regional Safety Coalition's Strategic Highway Safety Plan efforts "

OBJECTIVE
A thing aimed at or sought; a goal

STRATEGY
A plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.

ACTION ITEM
A discrete task that must be accomplished, usually by a single individual or a small team or group. Action items typically arise from meetings and should always be clearly documented.

ACTION STEP LEADER
Responsibilities include: Working with coalition partners and agencies to implement action step & update the emphasis area team leader on progress, challenges and successes monthly.

EMPHASIS AREA TEAM LEADER
1. Ensure team membership is multidisciplinary (4'Es)

2. Working with coalition partners and agencies to implement action steps & update the statewide SHSP emphasis area team leader on progress, challenges and successes

3. Track progress on emphasis area implementation with assistance from Regional Highway Safety Coalition Leaders

4. Identify new strategies and develop action plans with your coalition partners

5. Revise or delete strategies and action items when completed or become obsolete;

6. Participate in biannual SHSP Implementation Team Meetings

7. Ensure team members are informed about the Emphasis Area problem and countermeasure effectiveness.
