Prepatory classes and books I recommend
|Bringing Up Bebe|
The Fourth Trimester - a little woo-woo but a lot of good information
Taking Cara Babies - highly recommend any of her online classes for 0-12 weeks, got us on such a good schedule.
Infant CPR / First Aid class - can usually take at hospital
Things I found absolutely necessary are highlighted
Not my favorite but good for emergencies
Can use insurance at Byram Healthcare - I got the Spectra S2, get the S1 if you do because it's exacty the same but portable. I also have the willow, could be great if you need to pump at work. I don't love it.
Lansinoh Breastmilk Bags
|Bottle Sterilizer||Papablic Baby|
Saves so much time because it steams and then dries everything. We use it 4x a day
|Nipple cream||Mother Love|
I like this cream because you don't have to wash it off when the baby nurses/you pump
Put these in the freezer and apply after nursing or pumping, helped so much in the beginning
Feeding cover (if you want for public feedings, I've honestly never used mine)
Didn't need this in the beginning, but having high quality formula on hand made me feel good. We went with Holle formula.
We tried a few, and these were best for preventing gas
|Bottle rack||Boon Dryer|
I use my steamer only now because it disinfects and completely dries the bottles, just much easier. Get this if you plan on hand washing.
Noa doesn't mind cold milk so we don't use this but I know people who love them
|Breast feeding pillow||My Breast Friend|
By far my favorite nursing pillow because it is so sturdy
Uppa Baby Vista Stroller
Went with the stroller with the most storage on bottom and SO happy we have it, I use it a ton.
Nuna Pippa Carseat
Additional base for dad's car
We just use my car and didn't need this. if you plan on using both cars, buy an extra base so you're not reinstalling constantly
Adapter for carseat/stroller
You can buy adapters to make the carseat attach to the stroller, but honestly I find taking her out easier.
Sakura Bloom (really easy and comfy)
Artipoppe (If you’re feeling fancy)
Solly Wrap (soft carrier, better when they're super little)
Ergo Baby (good for dad and longer hikes etc) - you need an infant insert if you want to use it right away
Haven't used this yet, I'm sure it will eventually be crucial!
|Bassinet or Pack n Play|
Some good brands:
Snoo (rent don’t buy)
Nuna SENA Aire Playard
We have Graco Pack 'n Play
I borrowed an infant pack and play. We are trying the Snoo this week, I'll tell you how it goes. You'll want her next to your bed in the beginning, although we have her in her crib almost exclusively now.
|Bouncer Chair||Don't use this yet|
|Baby Swing||4moms Swing|
|Changing pad||Naturepedic Pad|
So much cheaper and easier than buying a whole table.
|Changing Cover||Bamboo Covers|
This way you can just throw in the wash and not get the pad dirty
Favorites, in order:
Happiest Baby Swaddles
Halo Sleepsack (these are great but a little too big for her still)
Try a few, then buy more of the brand you prefer. The velcro ones are so much more secure I prefer them immensely!
|Burp cloths||Muslin Cloths|
You'll go through so many
|Backseat car mirror|
|Bumbo Seat with tray||Bumbo|
Haven't used this yet because she's not old enough, but friends love
These are her favs, but WubbaNub and Bibs are also popular. Get a few to see what she likes.
|Dock a tot||Doc a Tot|
Use this sooooo much
|Baby tub||Skip Hop|
This helps keep them up when they're super little and grows with them
|Baby body wash|
We love the Honest subscription - get N and 1 to start (we are still in N bc she's itty bitty, but some moms start with 1)
You'll go through sooooo many
Baby robe and/or hooded towels
|Baby laundry detergent|
|Crib fitted sheet|
Waterproof mattress protector
|Rocking chair or Swivel|
I bought a regular dresser, that she can use for many years, then added a changing station on top. Buying a whole piece of furniture felt impractical
|Baskets with lids||Jolla Baskets|
Just put these everywhere to collect clutter
|Diaper pail||Ubbi Pail|
|Diaper pail bags|
We got a cheap one, the nanit is supposed to be great
|Night light||Himalayan Light|
The red glow is better for keeping them asleep than a regular light
Get 2, so you can have it in multiple rooms
|Quiet door stopper||Cushy Closer||Love these!|
*I recommend not buying any clothing until after your baby shower, if you're having one. Baby will live in soft onseies, so as cute as tiny outfits are, you will hardly use them in the beginning!
|Short sleeve onsies|
|Long sleeve onsies|
Makes middle of the night changes easier
|Tylenol for Infants|
We got an electric file instead of clippers - much easier
Hospital Bag Essentials For Mom
Literally left the hospital in my robe
Sandals or slippers for walking around hospital
