1AMCAS APPLICATION CHECKLIST
The application process for medical school takes approximately ONE year to compete, in addition to months of preparation in advance (MCAT, personal statement, letters of recommendation, etc.). Use this checklist to keep track of your application materials to track your programs!

25APRIL2023Register and start studying for the AAMC PREview Professional Readiness Exam if the schools that you are planning on applying to require or recommend it.

28Ask potential letter writers for LOEs. If they say yes, send them your compiled letter writer packet.

29Review the AMCAS Applicant Guide for general application information to prepare for the opening of AMCAS in early May.

30Finalize the list of schools you are applying to

31MAY2023Once AMCAS opens in early May, begin filling out your application.

32Apply to AAMC Fee Assistance Program (FAP) when AMCAS opens. Funds are awarded on a first-come first-serve basis.

33Request your official transcripts.
Send one copy to medical school(s) and one to yourself.

34Use your copy of your official transcripts to fill out the Coursework section.

35Copy and paste your experience descriptions and most meaningful “mini essays” into the Work & Activities section.

36Add your letter writers to the LOE section and send them the Letter Request Forms.

37Copy and paste your personal statement into the Essays section.

38Check that your MCAT score(s) are accurately displayed in the Standardized
Tests section (scores should automatically upload after they are released).

39JUNE2023Read through application for spelling or grammatical errors.

41Check the status of your application to ensure that it is processed (may take up to 4-6 weeks). Resubmit documents if necessary.

50Schedule flights and book lodging and transportation, if applicable. Many interviews are now offered virtually.
