Sheet TitleContent (Formulas are reported in the Assignment Report)
14
Raw data HS12This sheet contains raw data retrieved from the UN COMTRADE for Brazil's HS 12 sector trade flows
15
Export and Market Shares HS12This sheet contains transformed dataset used to calculate and plot Brazil's Export and Market Shares of HS 12 with its partner countries
16
Raw data HS26This sheet contains raw data retrieved from the UN COMTRADE for Brazil's HS 26 sector trade flows
17
Export and Market Shares HS26This sheet contains transformed dataset used to calculate and plot Brazil's Export and Market Shares of HS 26 with its partner countries
18
Raw data HS27This sheet contains raw data retrieved from the UN COMTRADE for Brazil's HS 27 sector trade flows
19
Export and Market Shares HS27This sheet contains transformed dataset used to calculate and plot Brazil's Export and Market Shares of HS 27 with its partner countries
20
Brazil's CompetitorsThis sheet contains the list of the three major competitors for each of the Brazil's chosen sectors. Data on the shares of Brazil and its top three competitors in the partner countries' imports (%) in 2023 are sourced from ITC Trade Map.
21
RCA calculationsThis sheet contains raw exports data retrieved from the ITC Trade Map for Brazil's top 5 products at HS 6-digit level for HS 12 (120190, 120242, 120740, 120929, and 120991); HS 26 (260111, 260300, 260112, 261690, and 260400); and HS 27 (270900, 271019, 271012, 271600, and 271311) sectors. The top 5 products are chosen based on the five products with the largest exported value in 2023 for each selected sector for Brazil. The sheet also contains the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) of Brazil for the top 5 products at HS 6-digit level across the three sectors. The series used for the calculations are Brazil's exports of a product at HS 6-digit level in a sector (HS 12; HS 26; and HS 27); Brazil's total exports; world's exports of a product at HS 6-digit level in a sector (HS 12; HS 26; and HS 27), and world's total exports from 2014 to 2023.
22
BRCA2 calculationsThis sheet contains raw exports and imports data of Brazil and its partner countries respectively from the ITC Trade Map for Brazil's top 5 products at HS 6-digit level for HS 12 (120190, 120242, 120740, 120929, and 120991); HS 26 (260111, 260300, 260112, 261690, and 260400); and HS 27 (270900, 271019, 271012, 271600, and 271311) sectors. The top 5 products are chosen based on the five products with the largest exported value in 2023 for each selected sector for Brazil. Specifically, the series are Brazil's exports of a product at HS 6-digit level in a sector (HS 12; HS 26; and HS 27) to partner countries; Brazil's total exports to the partner countries; Partner countries' imports of a product at HS 6-digit level in a sector (HS 12; HS 26; and HS 27) from the world; and Partner countries' total imports from the world from 2020 to 2023. The choice of the period is primarily driven by data availability, though there were still some periods with missing observations. Using these series, the bilateral revealed comparative advantage (BRCA) is calculated for the top 3 partner countries of Brazil in HS 12, HS 26, and HS 27.
23
Export PotentialityThis sheet contains the export potentiality of the products retrieved from the ITC Export Potential Map. Out of the five products considered in HS 12 sector, only three products (120740; 120929, and 120991) have export potential information in the database. Also, in the HS 26 sector, only 260111, 260112, 260300, and 260400 have export potential information. However, there is no information on the export potentiality of the five products considered in the HS 27 sector.
24
Quality Perception MappingThis sheet contains the dataset sourced from the ITC Trade Map for 2019 and 2023 to calculate the quality perception mapping for 3 exportable products, namely HS 120190; HS 260111; and HS 270900. For HS 120190, the quality perception mapping for Brazil and Selected Competitors in Chinese market for the product is calculated. In the case of HS 260111, the quality perception mapping for Brazil and Selected Competitors in Malaysian market for the product is calculated while the quality perception mapping for Brazil and Selected Competitors in Netherlands' market for HS 270900 is calculated. The choice of the chosen competitors is primarily driven by data availability for the periods under consideration
25
CMS ModelThis sheet contains the data and the calculation of Brazil's export competitiveness in the HS 26 sector in China. The data collection is done for all the three sectors (HS 12; HS 26; and HS 27) considered in this report; however, only the data for the HS 26 sector were later used because data for other sectors are very scanty. This dataset are directly sourced from the UN COMTRADE, which include raw data of Brazil's Export of HS 12; HS 26; and HS 27 product at 6-digit level to China for 2011, 2018, 2019, and 2023 and raw data of China's Imports of HS 12; HS 26; and HS 27 product at 6-digit level from the World for 2011, 2018, 2019, and 2023. The data for the China's World Imports at the HS 12 2-digit level is retrieved from ITC Trade Map for the periods under consideration. The raw data can be seen on the far right-hand side of the sheet starting from column AA. For Brazil's export competitiveness in the HS 26 sector in China for 2011-18 and 2019-2023, the analysis is done at the three-level decomposition covering the world growth effect, commodity composition effect, market composition effect, and residual competitiveness effect.
