13
1) Make a copy of this spreadsheet in your own Google Drive (this copy is not publicly editable)
14
You will have to authorize your copy to use the buttons. These buttons are necessary for the spreadsheet to work (sorry)
15
I'm currently working on a C# version of this spreadsheet that should be much easier to use, but in the meantime, this spreadsheet works :)
16
2) Never edit ANY cell that is not colored white! This is very important as you will likely be destroying a formula cell and cause the spreadsheet to break!
17
3) Go to the "Data" tab and fill out value for your troops (i.e. bonuses from tech and other things) so that the sheet has actual numbers for calculations
18
Try to keep these numbers up to date as you increase your lost arts, change your crystals, get new relic bonuses, increase your paragon level, etc.
19
4) Despite their high cost efficiency, do NOT use imperial, eldritch, or darkened units for BGs. Also do not use units that require Maranian Amulets to create.
20
This is because the way the BG calculates costs for these types of units does not give good rewards
21
Only use the unit types listed for the BG type (rows 14-29 for Defensive BGs, and rows 19-28 for Offensive BGs)
22
5) The numbers next to the unit names in the BG tabs are the efficiency values for that unit type. The higher the number, the more efficient it is in terms of benefit vs. cost/time to build
23
6) See instructions below on Defensive and Offensive BG pages for how to do those BGs
24
25
26
Defensive Battleground Instructions:
27
1) Record the locations and levels of each green (defensive) BG in the top of each column of the Defensive BG tab (look at the bottom of this page to see the "tabs" for this spreadsheet)
28
2) Send 1 archer to each green (defensive) BG visible in your eagle's nest.
29
3) Record the numbers of enemies in each BG
30
4) Decide which unit types to send by adjusting the dropdowns for inf, cav, occ, and bst defensive troops. If a dropdown turns red, that means that the
31
unit type is not best suited for that type of defense and will not be as efficient.
32
5) Send enough troops to get the highest level BG to yellow. Record the number of troops killed, enemies killed, etc.
33
Note that as you record the number of enemies killed, the troops needed to kill the BG will be updated as well.
34
6) Start sending troops to kill off lower level BGs
35
Note that you do NOT want to send massive amounts of troops to overkill BGs as the whole point is LOSE units.
36
Overkilling reduces your losses and just increases the amount of time until your next payout.
37
I've also been told that sending too many troops incurs an extra 30% loss, but I don't know if that's actually true.
38
In either case, overkilling BGs is not a good thing to do :)
39
7) When you kill a BG, record the rewards, troops lost, troops killed, etc. When that is done, hit the "Clear" button at the top of the column.
40
(Don't worry, all relevant data gets stored for long-term usage!)
41
Wait until the spreadsheet is done updating before continuing (this could take a bit depending on how powerful your computer is)
42
8) When the "Remaining Balance" in the upper left gets negative (it will turn red), then you should be ready for a payout - send troops to kill the
43
highest level BG that you yellowed earlier.
44
Note that if this is the first time using this sheet, you'll have to guestimate a bit since there is not enough initial data to tell when your last payout was.
45
9) When you get a payout (even if you still have other BGs yellowed), hit the "Payout" button (BEFORE hitting the "Clear" button)
46
This will record the rewards and calculate how much is needed before your next payout. This is NOT an exact science as Plarium seems to
47
throw in some randomness, but in my testing, it is pretty accurate if you record your last large payout correctly.
48
You will know when you have a large payout by looking at the bottom 2 rows for the BG - if the reward ("Bank Debit") is MUCH larger than your
49
losses ("Bank Credit"), then it is a large payout and you should hit the "Payout" button (unless, of course, the BG was already yellowed during.
50
your last payout and the credits were already applied to the previous balance). It's confusing at first, I know, but you'll get the hang of it quickly.
51
10) The Remaining Balance should now be positive.
52
Continue the above steps and make sure to record enemy losses, your losses and rewards accurately.
53
54
Offensive Battleground Instructions:
55
1) For each red (offensive) BG visible in your eagle's nest, record the location and level in the Offensive BG tab of this spreadsheet
56
2) Send 10-20 pikemen, paladins or pathfinders to the BG. Record your troops lost as well as the number of enemies killed for that BG.
57
The "Attack With" row should then update and tell you the most efficient type of troop (inf, cav, occ, or bst) to send to kill that BG.
58
Note that you can also look below in the "Vs" rows (29-33) and see the numbers. The lower the number, the more efficient that troop type
59
will be in killing that BG. Sometimes, the numbers are equal, but the "Attack With" row will only show one of the types. You can use either
60
troop type in those cases with the same efficiency.
61
3) As with Defensive BGs, the process is pretty much the same after this point - yellow the highest BG and kill lower level BGs until
62
your "Remaining Balance" goes negative. Record the enemy losses, your losses, and the rewards for each killed BG, then hit the "Clear" button.
63
If you get a payout (the reward is MUCH larger than the amount you spent killing the BG), then hit the "Payout" button before hitting "Clear"
64
65
66
Final Note: The above is simply one of many strategies for doing battlegrounds. I can't say it's the best or the worst, just that it works. Feel free
67
to experiment and try other strategies. In the end, the spreadsheet is simply to help track the numbers. For more strategy ideas, see this post:

There are a TON of good ideas in that post if you take the time to read through it!
