I love the .hack//AI Buster novels and have always wanted fic of them (sadly I’ve never quite got around to writing my own), but there is tragically none to be found! If you matched with me on this fandom (or maybe you matched with me on Legend of the Twilight and then saw this), we should be friends. :D
Lycoris is optional for this fandom, but I’d love a fix-it where she survives somehow, maybe deciding to go on evading the Cobalt Knights indefinitely – possibly aided by a rogue Watarai/Albireo and Haruka/W.B. Yeats? I love the idea of the two of them (I specified W.B. Yates rather than Hokuto for this scenario mainly because it’s her ‘real’ character and probably more useful at a higher level) going rogue to protect this AI, rejected by the game but with a mind and will of her own. Or perhaps there could be another scenario where she came into being, and met Watarai and Haruka, under different circumstances that don’t require her death. I’m not saying you have to write domestic kidfic with Albireo and W.B. Yeats/Hokuto “adopting” Lycoris, but well, I wouldn’t be opposed? :D
Or maybe you want to go down the route of a non-The World AU where these characters are all ordinary humans thrown together by some other circumstances, which could be cool! Maybe by some tech-fantasy means Lycoris is able to become human and live in the offline world? The sky’s the limit ^^
If you decide not to include Lycoris, I’d love anything focusing on Watarai and Haruka’s relationship post-AI Buster volume 2 – it’s implied that they get together romantically, although I know that supposedly in canon their relationship doesn’t last, but I’d like to ignore that! (Or at least not explore that far ahead). I’d be keen for anything shippy between the two of them, but if you’d prefer, gen/friendship or pre-relationship is great too! Another scenario I’d love to see is the two of them meeting under different circumstances, with Haruka playing W.B. Yeats instead of Hokuto (Lycoris may or may not put in an appearance, up to you). How might Albireo’s meeting with this legendary net poet and beta player go?

I do ship Vladimir &amp; Evgeniy, but I’m also happy for them to stay platonic coworkers. Also, I’m not officially requesting Valera, in case you want to just write Vladimir &amp; Evgeniy, but I like him too and he’s welcome to appear if he fits in your story!

Next thing they know, they get approached for a special rescue mission to save some stranded mountain climbers/polar explorers/etc., because if they can fly and land a flight like that, they can deal with anything! How does that flight go?
- Valera’s POV on the flight and its flight crew. What does he think of Vladimir &amp; Evgeniy?
- What precautions does Evgeniy take before the next year’s flight? How does it unfold?
- Something weird happens on the next year’s flight, and Vladimir &amp; Evgeniy have to handle a new wrinkle in the Flight to Heraklion saga. Maybe Valera turns out to be an alien. Maybe somebody gets very ill after drinking a particular bottle of wine, and Evgeniy has to turn into a detective to find out who the attempted murderer is on board. Maybe they have a trainee pilot who a now-veteran Evgeniy has to show the ropes. The sky’s the limit!

What is the story of their romance? Do they belong to the same family? Are they neighbors? Did Barsik long have a crush on the singing cat, but think that their fling was all he’d ever have? How do they catch feelings for each other? What does their romance look like from an outsider-POV of a human?
- Or if you aren’t feeling the Barsik angle, maybe the singing cat stops his song of resignation to his fate and decides instead that he’s going to run away to freedom with the alley cat before he gets pulled into that scary back room with the vet! What adventures might the singing cat and the alley cat have together, and how might <i>they</i> fall in love?
- Or maybe Barsik falls in love with the neutered cat instead! He seems nice and friendly and cozy. I love big giant fluffy cats. Having watched ‘I-LAND’ about a year late, I was fascinated by the contestants and the narratives woven around them. I definitely left with a vested interest in what was next. And then, excitement, K, Taki, Nicholas and EJ in this mysterious project that turned into &amp;Audition and then &amp;Team! I loved &amp;Audition and Fuma crept up on me (as, as far as I can tell, he did on the producers, given his total lack of presence in ‘Final Countdown’) to become my favourite, so I was delighted when he made the cut.

It is not necessary to include both women in your story: a focus on one of the other would be fine. On the other hand I do think their dynamic is really interesting and underdeveloped on the show, especially that between older Jennifer and Katarina. I really love Katarina, but I also really love the way Jennifer gets under her skin so effortlessly, and how much fun she has doing it. I would love to see the two of them having to work together, perhaps in some kind of time-travel adventure, perhaps having to hold off an attack when the rest of the cast are off doing something else.
Other prompts for Katarina: I love that she’s such an asshole, and so convinced she’s right. I love that just when you think she can’t do anything worse she goes ahead and finds something worse to do. I absolutely still ship her with Olivia, and love how she uses their mutual obsession to get the upper hand – I would really enjoy some dubcon here. I just think Anne is so interesting and she's not given nearly enough attention, in my opinion. Her story is so interesting and has all the makings of a romance - though if romance is not your thing, no worries. Yes, I'm (once again) requesting two modern-place-thrown-into-the-past series. *g* But my request here is rather different from the one for the Nantucket trilogy. I'm less interested in the general uptime/downtime clash here, maybe because the 17th century is nowhere near as far from modern day as the Bronze age, and also because I don't feel the series always does so well with actual 17th century mentality.
Instead, there's another aspect that captured my interest. In <a href="https://www.baen.com/categories/free-library/1632.html" rel="nofollow">1632</a>, John Chandler Simpson is an out-and-out villain (and a very unpleasant, all too real one) - but in the sequel, <a href="http://www.suramya.com/mirror/Downloads/baen/CD/13-TheBalticWarCD/1633/index.htm" rel="nofollow">1633</a>, he is given much more depth and gets excellent character development, and he becomes fascinating and compelling to me. I'm very interested in the idea of someone turning himself into a villain by going all-out with a strict end-justifies-the-means strategy ... only to fail, and then to discover those means <i>weren't</i> actually necessary after all. Now he's living with the consequences, and that's a theme that very much speaks to me. (He's also an introverted control freak, which is a character type I have always loved.) I also love watching competent characters be competent, and <i>unexpected</i> competence is even better, so Admiral Simpson can be a joy to watch. Which is possibly why I like Simpson so much in David Weber's short story <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20180320091854/http://hell.pl/szymon/Baen/The%20Baltic%20War/Ring%20of%20Fire/074347175X___1.htm" rel="nofollow">In the Navy</a> - that story exemplifies so many things I enjoy about him. It also hits another of my buttons, characters defying expectation. (See also: Simpson as a sci-fi fan, which never fails to amuse me.) So I would love a story about Simpson that lets him shine without diminishing his faults.
Some ideas: I very much appreciate Simpson's wife, Mary Simpson, who is cut from the same cloth as he and walked that path right into villainy with him in <i>1632</i>, and like him, now has to deal with the aftermath, and finding a place for herself/themselves in their new circumstances. Their marriage nearly breaks under the strain of it - I'd love to see more about how they get past that. They're a great match, and I'd love to see them interact more - maybe plotting some bit of joint social/political manipulation? Mary helping him navigate society? Or the reconciliation with their son that we never actually got to see in the books. I also enjoy Simpson's interactions with Eddie Cantrell very much, so more of that would be great. More Simpson mentoring a reluctant Eddie? Or something about the other people under his command, particularly the Germans, who obviously have every reason to hate his guts, to start with. Or just Simpson by himself, trying to come to terms with what he did, and wondering what might have happened if he'd succeeded.

These two women often get a raw deal in historical fiction IMO, treated as a 1-dimensional saint or dowd (C/K) or as frigid/scheming/bitch (A), but they're such interesting people with distinct strengths.

I'd love some alt hist with one or both of these like - One of my favourite mental exercises is 'Arthur Tudor lives'. So! Arthur Tudor lives, Katherine is his Queen, let's run with it - who is she now? And/or Anne marries Henry Percy, how does that go? Who would these women have been to each other if they hadn't been in competition for the crown? Or Wolsey never dies of cancer, maybe Henry can't bear to execute him after all, what does that do to Anne? Or even, Anne's son lives...
Another idea would be young Catalina d'Aragona, a child in Spain, groomed to be queen ... what was that like?

I requested this last year and after watching American Repertory Theater's production of 1776 this year, I'm trying it again. Watch that climactic scene where John Hancock polls the Pennsylvania delegation. The intimacy inherent in calling each other by their first names, the heartfelt entreaties to each other, the hurt and betrayal on Dickinson’s face as Wilson votes against him. These two were totally banging.
I would love an angsty fic that explores both the beginning of their relationship, and their relationship in aftermath of Wilson's vote. Whether they break up or stay together and work through it, or stay together but it's never the same between them - I'd love to read about any of these scenarios.

I love 17776 with all my heart, and some kind of exploration into deeper facets of the dynamics and world at play would be fascinating. I'd like to see more interactions between the characters and exploration into their personalities and how what they've seen has shaped the way they are. Also, other elements of the game that weren't brought in, or other ways you think the rules of football could be manipulated and stretched in this universe! Go wild.

It has been years and I am still so utterly FASCINATED by the improbable and amazing and weird utopia Jon Bois has built with 17776 and now 20020. It’s a world that seems to be positively teeming with stories, and I have a frankly insatiable desire to read about any and all of them, hence why I keep requesting it for Yuletide, and I'm thrilled to be able to specifically request worldbuilding now. I do not actually care about football qua football; I like the country and centuries-spanning version of the game Jon Bois has extrapolated here, but you don’t have to make it the focus of anything you write.
Here are some worldbuilding angles I'd love to see explored:
-Those first few decades after humanity realizes they can no longer die. Or, heck, who first realizes people have stopped dying, and how do they approach that mystery? What are those first few months or years like as people try to solve the mystery?
-How do other parts of the world deal with immortality, what games do they play? In this vein, I saw a tumblr post about countries stealing their antiquities out of other country's museums and how that could be a fun competitive sport, which struck me as a very 17776 kind of game!
-What other bits of electronics or AI have gained their own sentience or significance, and who do they talk to? What was the first AI or satellite or machine to gain sentience, and how did they talk to humans? What was the reaction? There are no children anymore: how do the probes like Nine, Ten, Juice, and Hubble, or our new James Webb Space Telescope, and any other satellites or computers, fill that void?
-20020 opened up even more delightful possibilities. ACAB in our current hellscape, but I'd love to know what the cops of 17776's post-scarcity, utopian world do when boredom is the real danger. There's sharing interesting facts and stories of course, but do they get up to any more byzantine schemes to protect the public from the menace of boredom during their eternal lives? What does a "police" "procedural" look like in this context? I welcome all absurd and hilarious and touching takes on this!
-Have any other species gained sentience? Have the dolphins or great apes or octopuses evolved, and if so, what's their relationship to humans?
-What kind of art do people make when they have eternity to make it?
Honestly, I’d be thrilled with you exploring just about any nook or cranny of this fascinating universe. I’d only ask that you maintain the source’s absurd yet optimistic and loving tone. Bittersweet and even a little elegiac is fine, I just don’t want anything grim or dark here. The world we’re living in right now has plenty of that. Also, do not feel the need to try any wild format/coding stuff the way Bois did if you don’t want to. A vanilla text story is more than enough for me. That said, don't feel the need to stick to a traditional story format! Given my worldbuilding request, I'd be thrilled by other formats too: epistolary, social media, Wikipedia entries, oral history, etc.
I've gotten some lovely gifts for this past years, but like I said, I always want more! The world of 17776 feels so huge and so fascinating that I'm greedy. I got pulled into this fandom a while back and have been finding myself totally enthralled by the relationships between this set of characters. I am fascinated by Fritz' brother Heinrich, who had an extremely dysfunctional love/hate relationship with his brother (where Fritz treated him in a way that was strongly reminiscent of the way that his father treated him, and Heinrich alternately fought against it and knuckled down to it).

Cicero fandom is my favorite tiny fandom, and there have been some really amazing Cicero fics in yuletides past. The historical RPF categories are always among the first ones I go to when the archive goes live, and I feel pretty strongly that we can never have too many stories about Cicero. I've only listed Cicero, but if you want to bring in other characters—Catiline, Cicero filius, Tullia, Atticus, Caesar, Octavian—please do; Cicero was so much a product of his time and circumstances, it's hard to imagine leaving them out. Nitekap and Threadbare are such wonderfully fun antagonists, so I'd love to see more of them. Is Nitekap some kind of mad scientist, mad magician, or both? How did he get in contact with the Hoodwinks? And what would the pair do after the game when Nitekap seems not so grumpy and evil? My favorite aspects of the story are how Nick, Ortu, and Chris try their hardest (in their misguided, bro-y way) to get over their insecurities for Adam. Also how the entire movie makes the case for how perfect Chris and Adam are for each other what with all of Adam's failed dates that systematically show him how perfect Chris is compared to the other guys he tries to meet. The almost kiss on Adam's couch is so heartbreaking, and then Chris can't get it up for his booty call because he's too busy checking for messages from Adam! And then the kiss at the end! Adam so clearly looks like he's trying to tell Chris what he wants to hear, so Chris just goes along with it.
I also love Nick with his reading and how seriously Ortu's dad's BBQ is taken.

This film bowled me over for many reasons, mostly because I laughed my head off throughout at its sheer zaniness, and then spent the following week mulling over how incredibly dark a lot of the plot was (even setting aside the murder bit!). I'd welcome fic about any of the characters, but since it's Yuletide, I'll put in one very specific request below.
What I'd really, really love would be a fic about Catherine grappling with the shocking, life-changing events that occurred over the course of the film, either immediately after the curtain falls, or sometime in the future. How would her relationships with Suzon and Gaby change, as a result? Would she become even closer to her family, or run away from them? Would she keep on reading murder mysteries, or completely lose her appetite for them, or—considering how things unfold over the course of the film—even start writing them herself? I'd be very OK with a fic exploring all of this to move in some pretty dark directions, although I wouldn't mind a glimmer of hope at the end of any such fic.
All this said, I'd really be delighted with stories about any of the characters. Write about Suzon and Catherine as little girls, and their relationship with Madame Chanel acting as the mother that Gaby never really took the time to be! Write about Gaby and Pierrette post-canon, being fluffy and domestic (or otherwise working things out)! Write about Augustine living a terribly glamorous new life and leaving a trail of wealthy and broken-hearted men in her wake, or else finding true love at last! Would love a "Christmas through the ages" collection of stories from either Ralphie's or Mrs. Parker's POV. Like - if from Mrs. Parker's POV: her first Christmas with Mr. Parker, when the boys were small, her POV of the movie Christmas, a few Christmases after as the boys grow and she and Mr. Parker age. If from Ralphie's POV, start with the first Christmas he remembers and go from there, but otherwise same idea.

This is the most atypical of all Heyer novels, which is why I think I love it the most - quiet love, and people doing a lot of relationship work, and the snobby characters having to think about their values. I would love more of Jonathan Chawleigh and Lydia's general admiration of each other - how does their relationship develop? Does Jonathan claw his way up to Lord Mayor? Does Lydia ever get to be on the stage? How does her husband deal with her enthusiastic step-uncle? Is it possible for Julia to be redeemed? Yes, she is a very melodramatic needy character - but I can't help noticing that her particular way of filling her need to be loved is to shower other people with affection. Does she manage to grow up a bit?

I found myself describing this book as Georgette Heyer's <i>Persuasion</i> - a book that hits differently than the rest of her romance canon, just as <i>Persuasion</i> does to Jane Austen's other five completed novels. I just want Jenny to be happy, okay? As a child of an arranged marriage, I do not enjoy the trope as a trope, but I love what Jenny and Adam make of it, even though I want to smack Adam upside the head more than once every time I reread. As a friend of mine said, they're content and at peace by the end of the book, but I'd like to see more of their deep emotional investment in each other. (As I said in return, tellingly, I can't believe that Adam and Jenny canonically have sex before they settle into the marriage!) I don't know how you can write these two without bringing in Jonathan Chawleigh - if you can, that's great - and I adore his relationship with Lydia, but I really would like the focus to be on Jenny and Adam.

Did they ever share Maddek between them? Ardyl mentions they both have big hearts, who else did they love? How did sharing their bed with a third person become the way they express the love between them? (I'm not specifically interested in the monk who has a crush on them, but he can be part of a wider exploration).
* The super angsty version where one of them is taken and the other has to keep their oath and can't go rescue them. Terrible things happen, but eventually, they get free/are rescued and are reunited, and dramatic love confessions happen.
* Adventures on the road. They left their home behind, what do they think about the lands they travel through? How do their fellow Parsathians view their relationship? How do they view their fellow travelers? How many dinosaurs do they kill? How many times do they rescue each other?
