This might help a bit for 1050MHz+ engine clocks. The peak performance should be available at >1500MHz MEMCLK, the latency is still tighter at that region. SAPPHIRE HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB GDDR5 VAPOR-XThe memory controller configuration was altered completely. In case it is too much to the MC to take the card may refuse from posting. In case it works but still does not improve the hashrate, it might be because the memory is working in x16 "Clamshell" mode. Normally it operates at x32 mode, but since there are twice the GDDR5 ICs on you card the lanes are also splitted (24x x16 vs. 12x x32 == 384-bit). However even in the worst case you cannot brick the card permanently as long as you have another working card (any card). In that case the working card must be placed in the primary PCI-E slot and the non functional to the one of the secondary slots. Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-XHynixI've currently investigating a issue I found on certain Sapphire bios versions. Some of the most recent version seem to alter the configuration of the VRM controller in way it shouldn't be done. It does not raise voltages but changes the VRM parameters instead.
