Resources for the fight are 45 + 10 per round (so 55 round 1), multiplied by the arena scaling.

Party strength is equal to 10 + ((bro level - 1)*2) for your 12/14 highest level bros for regular or militia/manhunters origins respectively. Combat difficulty multiplier is 0.85 / 1 / 1.15 for Beginner / Veteran / Expert respectively.

The arena scaling takes your party strength, divides it by your party size, then multiplies it by 12, in effect normalising however many bros you have to as if you had 12 of your average brother.

It then multiplies that by 0.01 and takes it to the 0.95th power, with it being a minimum of 0.75, then adds the lower between 0.5 and 0.5% of the current day.

This final number will be capped at 5, and then adjusted for combat difficulty, then multiplied with the 45 + (10 per round) from the beginning.

These resources are then used to calculate how many of the "scaling" enemies you will face, each enemy type has a cost, and you will face the number of resources divided by the units cost number of enemies.
Fixed enemies will be taken into account and removed from the number of resources used to calculated the number of scaling enemies.
You cannot face more than 24 of any scaling enemies in a given round

Worked example:

You're playing the vanilla origin on expert combat difficulty on day 200, and have 12 level 11 brothers. This means your party strength is (10 + (11 - 1) * 2) * 12 = 360.

The normalisation doesn't matter since you only have 12 brothers (it divides by 12 then multiplies by 12 in this case).

(360 * 0.01)^0.95 = 3.6^.95 = 3.377 it is day 200 so you add the lower between 0.5 and 200 * 0.005 = 1, which is 0.5, for a total of 3.877.

Expert combat difficulty multiplies this by 1.15 for a final result of 4.456.

Round 1 means base resources of 45 + (10 * 1) = 55, so we multiply 55 * 4.456 = 245 total resources for the fight.

You roll Scaling Outlaws for the first round, they have a cost of 25, so you face 245/25 = 9 Nomad Outlaws.

For round 2 the base resources are 65, for a total of 289 resources and you roll Hedge Knight + Scaling Mercenaries.

The Hedge Knight has a cost of 40, so we take away 40 from the resources 289 - 40 = 249 and the Mercenaries cost 25 meaning you will face 249/25 = 9 Mercenaries and a Hedge Knight.

For round 3 base resources are now 75 for a total of 334 and you roll 1 Executioner Champion, 1 Blade Dancer Champion and Scaling Gladiators.

Executioners and Blade Dancers both have a cost of 40, however being Champions means their cost is doubled, so subtracting 334 - (40 * 2) - (40*2) = 174 resources left for the Scaling Gladiators.

Gladiators also cost 40 so 174 / 40 = 4 Gladiators meaning the final fight will be against a Champion Executioner, a Champion Blade Dancer, and 4 Gladiators.
