Philosophy, Politics and EconomicsBifröst Universityhttps://www.bifrost.is/namid/felagsvisindadeild/ba-i-heimspeki-hagfraedi-og-stjornmalafraedi2004635"Philosophy, economics and political science, HHS, is a program whose aim is to prepare students for further studies and participation in the job market both domestically and internationally. It combines three basic subjects of the humanities and social sciences that are traditionally taught separately. By using the methods and insights of these three disciplines together, an unusual and rich undergraduate course is created that enables students to understand how different perspectives of the disciplines can work together.

The University of Bifröst is the only university in Iceland that offers studies in HHS. The course is modeled after the British model and enjoys respect and popularity in that country. The program aims to provide broad and multifaceted knowledge of the dynamics of modern society as well as to promote critical thinking and prepare individuals for challenging jobs in the labor market and active participation in social debate.

Unlike most other PPE programmes in the UK, this programme gives equal weight to all three subjects and has specially designed interdisciplinary courses.

LSE is regularly placed near the top of national and international league tables in the three subjects that comprise the PPE degree. Our PPE students do not study the subjects in isolation: as a specialist social science institution, academics and students at LSE are used to collaborating across departments and students are taught to develop interdisciplinary thinking.

PPE Politics, Philosophy and EconomicsNortheastern Univeristyhttps://cssh.northeastern.edu/ppe/201540+130We think of our program as a "social justice" PPE program. The first course that all our majors take is "Introduction to Economic Justice," which shows students that questions around justice, especially racial justice, are central to the major. Students must also complete a "race or gender justice" requirement (from a list of courses across the university such as in Women's and Gender studies or African and African American studies). Our PPE Methods course is focused around taking an intersectional, as well as interdisciplinary, approach to contemporary social and political challenges.

Ethics-Politics-EconomicsUkrainian Catholic Universitywww.epe.ucu.edu.ua201712 + visiting prpfessors50 (200 in total)VISION

Undergoing fast changes, the globalized world poses economic, political, moral and security challenges.

We are witnessing the dramatic development of today’s civilization with its scientific and technical progress caused by the intersection of science, philosophy, and business.

Only highly educated professionals with leadership abilities who are motivated in their decision-making by values and principles can face, understand, handle and master these challenges on the local, national and international levels for the sake of security and development of the highest values, which are the human being and family.

Social, political, and economic systems with their own rules of development are legitimately autonomous. Nonetheless, moral responsibility for the affirmation of justice and of the common good permeates these autonomous fields. Therefore, politics and economics need an axiological approach to study them as well as to do them.

To study the mutual influence and enrichment of each of these fields and to search for new models of societal, political, and economic systems which are morally responsible for the affirmation of human dignity and for the common good are the challenge and task of the interdisciplinary program of academic intersection “Ethics-Politics-Economics”, wich UCU has opened in September 2017, considering Ukraine’s needs and realities of the modern world.

This program is unique in Ukraine and aiming to educate a new type of social and political leaders this program combines interdisciplinary approaches with axiological ones, theory with practical experience.

MISSION

To educate a new generation of highly-qualified leaders committed to basic moral values, human dignity, freedom, solidarity, common good, human rights, justice, and motivated by values and principles.

To form creative, goal-directed social leaders, politicians, businesspeople responsible for social, political, and economic processes in Ukraine and at the international level.

To educate free, innovative, critically-thinking managers, who constantly learn, know how to learn, can apply their knowledge, look for changes on local and global scales, shape new models of development and create new systems.

This ambitious goal is an answer to the challenge of Patriarch Slipyj: “Aspire to greatness”!

Degree in Philosophy, Politics and EconomicsUniversitat Pompeu Fabrahttps://www.upf.edu/web/politiques/fpe2013876161Students can enroll in any of the three universities that organize the degree following the usual university pre-registration procedures in each autonomous community. The first year is taught in Barcelona (1st semester at UPF and the 2nd semester at UAB) and the second in Madrid (1st semester at UAM and 2nd semester at UC3M), while the third and fourth years are at the university where the student is enrolled.

The main objective of the degree is to train professionals who can work in public and private institutions. Graduates will gain a solid background in political science and economics, with an important foundation in the critical and moral analysis provided by the humanities, particularly philosophy.

Another of the programme's objectives consists of ensuring that students comprehend that contemporary societies are situated in a specific geographical, cultural and historical framework; that they are aware of the relationships of dependence and interdependence of the problems and conflicts that arise in such societies; and that they develop a cosmopolitan understanding with a view to coming up with proposals for solving those problems. International/transnational governability has both an institutional and a normative dimension, of which students must have a grasp.

The knowledge and ideas corresponding to the objective in question revolve around theories (scientific, normative) and proposals (legal, political) involving:

The different perspectives of the history of the present or immediate history (types of stories and types of descriptions) and their diverse methodologies.

Cultural diversity, given that neither globalization nor cosmopolitan perspectives are in a context of neutral cultural meanings / values.

Gender and race issues (gender and ethnic diversity) both in relations between cultures and in places of conflict and social dynamics.

The various ideological, theoretical and normative positions in understanding the general objectives.

PPPA - Politics, Philosophy and Public AffairsUniversity of Milanohttps://www.unimi.it/en/education/master-programme/politics-philosophy-and-public-affairs-pppaThe master's degree in Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs (PPPA) is an advanced interdisciplinary programme offering high-level competencies in political science and philosophy. The program provides both a solid theoretical background and a practical sense of the challenges and opportunities connected to current political and socioeconomic phenomena and trends.

The study plan includes a common core of courses addressing cutting-edge topics in political science, in moral and political philosophy - topics which are specifically selected for their relevance within public debates. Core courses also provide accurate historical competences, apt to rigorously frame similar debates, as well as advanced training in empirical methodologies and argumentative strategies, which will strengthen students' analytical capacities and their ability to assess and defend normative and policy proposals.

The second year of the programme offers the opportunity to study in depth a wide array of topics organized into two main areas. The first area - "Technology, science and society" - includes courses critically addressing the import and the ethical implications of scientific and technological development, with a special emphasis on pressing questions concerning environmental studies, bioethics, neuroethics, biopolitics, on the challenges of the information society and on the new dynamics of media systems. The second area - "Prosperity, peace and international affairs" - comprises courses focusing on current socio-economic and political developments and their effects on individual life chances and rights, social policies and schemes of distributive justice as well as courses addressing the dilemmas connected to new forms of war and conflict. Within these two main areas, students will have the chance to autonomously define their study plan according to their interests and based on the professional profile they intend to develop.
