Michael Tafadzwa Dzine

I have always been interested in green energy and to understand how it actually works in the real world. I worked on a solar project during my first year in the summer of 2017. I was particularly amazed by how powerful solar energy can be. However, most of this was based on ideal situations; things that we saw in the book or were told by the lecturers. I see this internship as an opportunity to apply all the knowledge that I acquired during my summer project. Besides that, I see this internship as a wonderful opportunity for me to work on another real world project, something I have been waiting for, for so long. This opportunity, to me means that I can finally put my hands on something that helps me apply some of the engineering concepts taught in class.
2. ATLAS BUSINESS AND ENERGY SYSTEMS LTD: Student will be able to install a complete PicoABES unit, understand and do basic calculation for solar household energy requirement. (Student: communication and listening skills, Ability to write reports, selfless and work under little supervisions or pressurey)
Like I pointed out in my motivation for this internship as a whole. I am passionate about renewable energy. I am also passionate about the development in Africa. When I look at Africa, I see a potential hub for solar energy which will help us combat global warming. As a continent, we might not have enough resources to delve much into global warming but I believe we have the best resource to combat global warming in solar energy. We receive a lot of sunlight so I think we should utilize it. In this job, i see a stepping stone for my dream of making Africa the hub of clean energy
I am the best fit for this internship because of my passion for renewable energy which I have demonstrated by participating in solar powered irrigation system. This also gives me some much needed experience in partaking in this project. I have also set up a mobile lab with Makomborero Zimbabwe. Therefore, my experience in managing projects like this makes me the best fit for this job.
Green-Ef Eco-Business Village Ltd : Comprehensive product design and benefit analysis ii,) Theoretical and practical lessons on the product and market dynamics from students' perspective. Iii) Heavily researched and critical scientific paper of publishable quality and value addition to further product and market development (Student: Interest in and understanding of climate change, the tripple bottonline framwork, product design and market development and a high sense of rigor in academic analysis and writing)
I believe that, for us to be able to design solutions to climate change problems, we need to understand what climate change is and everything it entails. This is my motivation for my second choice. It will be extremely difficult, I believe, for us to be able to design solutions of something which we do not fully understand. Therefore, I would like to take part in this project so as to enhance my knowledge in global warming, climate change and the essence of green "cleaner" energy.
My abilities to write research papers has been demonstrated in my paper for statistics for engineering, something that the lecturer said should be pursued and be published. With this kind of capabilities I think I am the best fit for this job. Also, my willingness to learn, I guess is paramount in this project and global warming as a whole.
Dean's List in my First Year
completed A mobile Lab with Makomborero Zimbabwe
winner of the SAASTA science competition
successfully completed a solar powered irrigation project in summer of 2017

My main goal during this summer break is to work on a project that requires me to use my design-thinking, engineering and teamwork skills to accomplish something meaningful and I believe this internship is the best platform for me to achieve this.
1. Alchemy Alternative energy : Develop a more robust feedstock supply chain while optimizing process flow to boost operational efficiencies (Student: Engineering background with innovative & creativity)
I chose this project because it has an engineering aspect which I am excited about. Optimization is one of the concepts I am passionate about in class and this project would give me the opportunity of applying the concepts I know to impact the project.
I believe I am the best fit for this internship because I am someone who is willing to work hard and put in my best efforts as long as I am enthusiastic about a project/task, which I am for this project. Given that I am currently in third year majoring in electrical/electronic engineering, I am in the best position to leverage the engineering knowledge I have acquired, my communication and teamwork skills. Most of all, I am capable of quickly learning all the other things I am required to know along the way to positively impact this project.
Cibus Technologies Limited : Final Design for Manufacture. (Student: Engineering and Marketing. Both Female. 3 rd years. Engineering and marketing project experience.)
I chose this project because it has an engineering aspect to it . In addition, this project would push me out of my comfort zone to execute tasks relating to marketing, which is an area I find very interesting but have never had the chance to explore. This project would bring out the competence I have in the marketing field.
I believe I am the best fit for this internship because I have acquired design thinking skills, alongside engineering knowledge relating to modelling and simulations which I would leverage in this position. I am someone who is willing and quick to learn all other things required. during the course of the project. In addition, I have good communication and teamwork skills that would be of great use as I work in this internship.
* I am on the Dean's list with an overall GPA of 3.66
* Member of the team that won the smart house challenge that took place at Ashesi University on Career fair day last year (2017)

I am generally passionate about climate change. For instance, here at Ashesi, I have been involved in at least three extra-curriculum activitieis which have links with climate change. Doing organic farming, using plastic bottles for irrigation and as containers for vertical farming, making and selling decorative items from waste plastic, glass and tins. Hence, my natural inclination and desire to be take this opportunity to advance my contributions to tackling the adverse effects of climate change. Moreover, like any other internship, I know it is a good opportunity for me to practise all learnt theories and skills against new challenges in order to build deeper experiences for myself.
6. DAS Biogas Construction Limited: How much households from the sample size are willing to pay for biogas system that can supplement more than 50% of cooking gas. Know percentage of sample size interested in using gas from their waste to cook. The price at which those at the bottom of the pyramid can pay for biogas system.
This will demand a lot of field reasearch, analysis of data gathered from the field and making informed, strategic conclusions out of them. Personally, as a very interactive and hands-on person, I love such roles. I really had a good experience doing a similar work as a Research and Design Intern on a Chocolonely Sponsored Project, runned by The Cobalt Partners in Accra. We runned design thinking hackathons for cocoa farmers in suhum in order for them to become proactive at redefining and solving their everyday problems - in or out of the farm. With such a wonderful prior engagement, I would not want to miss another opportunity to apply my experiences against new challenges. Ultimately, I consider it as an opportunity to grow deeper in an area of interest.
I have suitable experience in field research, data analysis using analyticial frameworks tools, and prototyping to represent conclusions made. I have nurtured these skills from my Foundation of Design and Entrepreneurship course and as an active Ashesi D:Lab Managment Intern in charge of supervising all agricultural research projects. Moreover, my knowledge from Research Methods and System Analysis & Deisgn, will be very useful in designing and implementing efficient fact-finding tools. From my roles as a Senior Project Supervisor in Ashesi D:Lab and a Venture Consultant & Coach in Ashesi Venture Accelerator (AVA), I know I can leverage on my human interaction and behavior observation and adaptation skills. Generally, it is more of saying I have done some before, I enjoyed it and I am going to do well at this one too.
ATLAS BUSINESS AND ENERGY SYSTEMS LTD: Student will be able to install a complete PicoABES unit, understand and do basic calculation for solar household energy requirement. Our Assistant Professor Dr. Emmanuel Ndzibah who is teaching in the school of Technology and Innovation at the University of Vaasa will be visiting ABES and sister company CREEI ltd (www.creein.com) to give a lecture in Renewable Energy and Sustainability in July. (Student: ommunication and listening skills, Ability to write reports, selfless and work under little supervisions or pressurey)
I like this option too because it will be a completely new practical exposure to solar energy. Perhaps due to my major at Ashesi, I have not had the privilege to gain a practical feel of solar energy even though I am not oblivious of its enormous potentials. Aside satisfying my curiosity, I would like to repeat roles connected to communicationn and report writing like I have done even in my previous internship. I know it is going to be a new learning experience because it is an entirely new context and I am happy to take that adventure to explore.
The designated roles demand a lot proactiveness and independent thinking. My role as Senior Project Supervisor in Ashesi D:Lab has certainly imbibed such qualities in me. I know if I have been able to start, grow and sustain an agricultural research project for two years in Ashesi College while doubling in other several roles aside my academics, then I will sure do well on this job.
I am good at writing. Aside the everyday writing I do as a student, I have been exposed to even academic paper writing, presentation and I have one cited to my name. Additionally, I did content creation and report writing in my former internship.
I am a MasterCard Scholar. I have a certificate of Authorship and Participation from INCEDI 2016 (International Conference on Education, Development & Innovation). As a Project Lead, I have handled the Farm Modelling Project from its inception and grown it to currently host four sub-projects. As venture coach, my first client successfully built and sold decorative products from tranforming plastic, metal and glass waste produced on campus . I work as an Ashesi D:Lab Management Intern in the positions of a Senior Project Supervisor. I have interned at The Cobalt Partners as a Reseach & Design Intern.
I was a class representative on the students' Judicial and Electoral Council in my sophomore year. On Fridays, I am a Mathematics Tutor at the Berekuso Basic School and on Sundays, a Sunday School Teacher at the Berekuso Pentecost Assembly.

To learn more about pyrolysis processes by Alchemy Alternative energy, enlarge my skill set in creating alternative energy production, apply the skills I have accumulated so far as an engineering student to enhance the efficiency in production of energy.
Considering the project description which involves the engineering of a more efficient process of production of the thermal energy, I have worked on two automation projects so far which one involve sensing the temperature of the system, regulate it and then execute the task at hand and this improved on the efficiency of the system. I am team player and enjoy brainstorming.

I also worked with D lab Ashesi last summer where we developed an electronic stethoscope to help in diagnosing lower respiratory tract infections. It was a success. With this experience and much more, I am best for this opportunity because I always deliver as expected.

Thank you very much.

Driven by the fact that I will be able to install a complete PicoABES unit and learn more about solar household energy. That's my motivation
Because I have good listening skills and a some knowledge about Energy systems and how they operate.
I worked on a semester-long research project, using a real data set (Add Health) with over 6,000 respondents and two thousand variables, posing my own research question, conducting a literature review, conducting data management in R, data visualization, conducting tests of statistical inference, and presenting the results of my research in the form of an academic poster. My research looked at the association between perceived differential treatment of siblings by their parents and thoughts of suicide among teenagers. My poster was among six selected for commendation from nearly 300 students from two universities who presented at the session. I was commended for my critical analysis of my research.

Also,I excelled at my last summer internship as I was able to make a sale of about 10,000 Ghana cedis for the company. It was a technological company that sells software to schools which aids in the teaching and learning process

This project has a lot to learn from and also to apply from an engineering perspective. I have a passion for solar energy production and distribution and this project will give me the opportunity to experience first one the processes that goes into those two things.
I have good communication and writing skills that makes me a more rounded person for this project. As an engineering student, I work on my own with little supervision most of the time. I also run an organization outside of school and I have learned to work under pressure, manage my time well and hold myself accountable to my commitments.

As a computer engineering student with a knack for innovation, i see a lot of potential in apply background knowledge in developing a robust system that tables to the design constraints in this project. It looks challenging to me but worth a dive into it.
I believe with my background into system dynamics and control systems, and my creative abilities, i will be able to contribute a lot to this project. I will be able to apply modelling skills in developing the feed-stock supply chain.
My most relevant achievement would be building my organization, Agrichot that operates in Cameroon and Niger, supporting rural farmers using climate-smart techniques of agriculture.

First of all, working for The Ghana Climate Innovation Center is a privilege. I believe this internship would help me exhibit skills and knowledge I have gained in school and outside school. Also, this internship would help me gain extra skills in addition to what I already have.

Gathering data on a particular topic (in this case, how much households from the sample size are willing to pay for biogas system that can supplement more than 50% of cooking gas.) is very interesting and I am very interested in seeing how far the biogas system in Ghana would go.
In gathering of data and computing of the statistics, I believe I am the best fit for this since I have more knowledge in Statistics. Statistics has been one of my favorite subjects and I believe that once a person has interest in a particular topic, the person would be able to give in her best.
Neat Meat Company Ltd: 3-year Marketing and Distribution Strategy developed for implementation, Datatbase of marketers and bulk customers created. 5-key marketing tools developed for our company (student: Interest in food science. In addition, an internship will give me a platform to put to practice skills and technical knowledge that I have acquired during my course study, seminars and training sessions I have attended. I would also want to network with other people making the world a better place out there.
I have a deep interest as an engineering student in renewable energy as I know that it is crucial in obliterating global carbon emissions as well as increase energy security with long term certainty. After doing a summer project on solar -powered irrigation system, which was successful, it sparked in me this passion in solar energy. Having grown up in a home powered by two panels, I have faith in the cost-saving and efficiency of using solar energy and I would love to help other people utilize this technology, not just to light homes but also to contribute on the global investment in renewable energy. Taking part in this project, I will gain more experience and also have a chance to contribute to society using skills that I gained over the summer project and through my courses.
I am the best fit for this internship because as an engineering student, I have acquired technical skills in assembling and installation of solar panels and even did a project where we designed and made a solar-powered irrigation system. I am a good design thinker and I can help integrate design and technology with business. I have worked as a marketing intern with Premier Training services company in Kenya and have acquired marketing skills and customer relations. With my passion to study Engineering Management after undergraduate school, I am very ready to learn and to commit to responsibilities delegated to me. I have grown up in a rural town that embraces use of renewable energy thus my believe in the efficiency and relevance of this project goes beyond my class interactions. Aside being a good team player, I am fun-loving and good at meeting and connecting with new people. I am an ethical student and a strong believer in quality and efficiency as the core of every project. I have high proficiency in report writing, documentation and with Microsoft Office.
DAS Biogas Construction Limited: How much households from the sample size are willing to pay for biogas system that can supplement more than 50% of cooking gas. Know percentage of sample size interested in using gas from their waste to cook. The price at which those at the bottom of the pyramid can pay for biogas system.
I am motivated by my interest as a future engineer in investing in renewable energy and in sensitizing the society to embrace renewable energy in saving the globe from carbon emissions and having sustainable energy. This is an idea that I would love to actualize in my rural homestead back in Kenya and I believe taking part in this project will equip me with the skills and motivation to do something that my friends and I have always wanted to. Business wise, I know that Biogas has great potential in the market especially in many rural homes. I would love to be part of the research (data collection and analyses) and sensitizing the society to embrace renewable energy.
I am a good communicator and easy with meeting and networking with new people. I have worked as a marketing intern where I acquired skills such as customer relations, advertising and raising awareness. I will be good at data collection and analysis having successfully completed a statistics course for Engineering. I am a high-spirited, fun-loving young lady which makes it efficient for me to connect with people. I share in the mission of the company as I am very passionate about renewable energy hence I can work ethically without supervision as I am self-driven. I quickly adapt to new environments, enjoy different people and cultures hence I am flexible to work anywhere with different people. I am very hardworking person and sincerely interested in this project.

I am applying for this internship program because it will enhance my future career, by giving me an opportunity to interact and connect with various students from different cultures. This will foster my learning experiences from other students as we share different experiences. More still, I take this summer internship program as a priority to get in touch with experts from different fields that will enable me to acquire and learn different skills in planning and designing solutions to solve problems. Further more, the various choices offered by Ghana Climate Innovation Center to the interns have also motivated me because I believe that when given the opportunity, it will be a wonderful experience for me working and networking with different students with different skills and knowledge, which I believe, will be valuable for my studies and general development. I have also been motivated by the objective of the GCIC and the five thematic focus for example solar energy, waste management, energy efficiency, climate smart agriculture and water management and purification. I believe that these five thematic focus of GCIC help to address Sustainable Development Goals such as affordable and clean energy, clean water and sanitation and so on and this is in line with my dream of having a society where planners and designers provide institutional bodies to enable maximum use of economic, physical and social-cultural resources to achieve social, environmental and economic sustainability for the well-being of the people. Therefore, to achieve this dream, I strongly believe that this internship program will empower me with the necessary leadership, designing, planning and critical thinking skills to solve problems in my community and beyond.
6. DAS Biogas Construction Limited: How much households from the sample size are willing to pay for biogas system that can supplement more than 50% of cooking gas. Know percentage of sample size interested in using gas from their waste to cook. The price at which those at the bottom of the pyramid can pay for biogas system.
I am interested in learning more about biogas technology. This is because i strongly believe that biogas as a renewable energy can help preserve the environment. More still, I have been motivated by this project because I want to be a problem solver in my community. For example, in my local community back in Uganda, people still do not have access to adequate power supply and this has resulted into the destruction of the environment by the local people as they resort to massive cutting down of trees in order to burn charcoal, get firewood and so on. Therefore, I believe that when given this internship opportunity, I will able to acquire skills and knowledge about the biogas technology which will be very fundamental to me in sensitizing my community and the local authorities about the importance of biogas in a community such that our environment remain preserved and the peoples' lives improved using biogas system.
I strongly believe that I am the best fit for this internship because i find it very easy and interesting to work in groups. This is because Ashesi has trained me to learn how to work in teams by always engaging us in group works. I also have leadership skills which I have been able to demonstrate throughout my school period at Ashesi University college for example by always taking up leadership positions such as being a group leader whenever a lecturer assigns a work that calls for team work. This has enabled me to build self confidence and effective communication skills which I believe will be vital in one way or the other during the internship period when given the opportunity. As an engineering student, I have also done a personal SWOT analysis and I have realized that I can also even work under pressure and this has enabled me to learn how get tasks done even during shorter time periods. In addition, Ashesi has close to 23 different countries across the world being represented, and so i have been able to interact easily with quite a number of students from different countries with different backgrounds and hence i have learnt how to deal with people from different backgrounds and with this I believe that when given this internship opportunity, I will find it easy to cooperate with the new people I will be meeting. Finally, when given this opportunity, I will work hard and give the best of ability and knowledge towards achieving the set goals and objectives of GCIC.
Unique Quality Product Enterprise(UQPE): Students with engineering background to facilitate the best quality dim fonio in West Africa for clients through effective milling and sorting.Marketing and sale of dim fonio both local and international is a major expectation. (Student: Marketing and Sales, Business development and Engineering students)
Though I am an electrical engineering student, I have been motivated by the Unique Quality Product Enterprise because I believe that I need to have adequate knowledge and understanding about sales and marketing. This is because I believe that marketing cuts across different fields including engineering. For example engineering companies say phone companies after manufacturing phones, they need to sell the phones to the customers in order for them to continue existing in the market as a company and that means that they ought to have a strong sales and marketing team. Therefore, I strongly believe that UQPE will equip me with marketing and sales skills that will help me to improve on my future career as an electrical engineer. This will, when given the opportunity, act as a step-up stone for me to advance my future career .
I believe that I am the best fit for this internship, because In my freshman year I took a course called Foundation of Design and Entrepreneurship which enabled me to learn more about problem solving, critical and design thinking which I believe will enable me to contribute positively towards achieving the best quality dim fonio to better serve both national and international customers. Further more, through this course, i was able to learn some sales and marketing strategies because each Foundation of Design and entrepreneurship team had to come up with a working solution to the different assigned problems and in the end each team had to carry out the marketing of their solution to the target market so as to test the durability, feasibility and viability of their proposed solution to the assigned problem . Therefore, I believe that when given this internship opportunity, I will be able to learn more sales and marketing skills and also contribute the little sales and marketing skills I acquired from Foundation of Design and Entrepreneurship course so as to achieve the intended objective of the GCIC.

The world is changing and I believe Africa needs to change with it. Solar energy is a form of clean renewable energy which does not result to the spread of harmful gases as the energy derived from fossil fuels. My motivation comes from the idea of providing homes with another source of electricity with is not only beneficial in the short term but also in the long term. The utilization of solar energy helps in the campaign against air pollution and global warming. My motivation for this project also comes from my passion for social entrepreneurship, environmental preservation (minimizing carbon footprints) and innovation; developing efficient sustainable solutions to existing problems.
According to Harvard Business Review, a social entrepreneur is required to have guts, determination, skill and expertise. Apart from oral, communication skill and the ability to work effectively under pressure, I believe i have the guts and determination to work on this project effectively. Although i am not an expert in the business space, I am willing to learn and contribute towards the success of the project. The project resonates with me, I have a social initiative in the Ideation stage that seeks to provide solar powered WiFi to rural schools. I believe i would not only be able to contribute towards making this project a success but also be able to learn new skills that i can apply towards my social initiative.

Social media promotion is an important part of any business, especially now that more than half of the world is online. Having a presence online is necessary and vital to the progress and marketing success of a business. The world right now is heading towards digital marketing; it is the future. My motivation for choosing this project is not only to learn new skills in content development but also utilize my skills in design, social media management and photography.
I believe i am the best fit for this internship because i currently own a media/ promotion business. I am not an expert but i believe i have some experience in this space combined with my online courses on digital marketing and social media marketing but i am willing to learn more and contribute ideas that would help with the success of this project.

I believe that whatever good you do to the earth, the earth one way or the other rewards you. This has influenced my passion for renewable and clean energy for almost a year as it serves an excellent replacement for all environmentally threatening mechanisms for generating energy and power. Due to this, as I read the mail from Design lab, talking about internships with companies within the GCIC incubator, I did not think twice about applying.
7. Translight Solar Limited: Will be responsible for designing a process for solar energy assessment in schools. (Student: Electrical engineering student – Must be good at electrical drawing; Must have a basic understanding of how distribution boards work in a home or facility; Must be willing to learn about solar systems; Management Information Systems – Will be responsible for maintaining the Translight Database Application and Customer Relationship management software; Must be proficient or have a knack for internet marketing: Programming Laravel and MySQL is a plus
As I believe, renewable energy is an earth saving invention and I will love to have intense knowledge in all forms of renewable energy, I also strongly believe you are at a greater advantage as an engineer if you master the use of at least one tool among the many tools in your toolbox. Being a proud citizen of a country that lies on the equator, I am certain that a mastery is solar energy engineering to me is a better way of moving our planet and its members to a cleaner state. A decision to undertake mainly solar internships this summer led to Translight Solar Limited being my first choice among the long list of internships. Not only did my interest in solar influence this decision but also the idea of pushing for Sub-Saharan Africa's primary source of power to be solar (the virtual grid idea) while ensuring that the power generated is reliable and cheaper than the normal grid's, informed me that TSL, has something special to offer the world. I will be glad to contribute to that.
As an electrical engineering student in third year, I have taken courses such circuits and power electronics which I believe provides me with a basic understanding of how to come up with electrical drawings and work with distribution boards. During my first summer break as an Ashesi Student, I worked on a project to design a portable solar generator. This project gave me a quality hands on experience with solar off-grid applications and solar engineering in general. Also, my pursuit to support the movement of using solar energy to save the planet has pushed me to take extra courses on solar engineering and commercialization on Udemy platform to sharpen my skills and open my mind to the various policies, operation, design and business models within the solar industry. My international engagements, although not related to solar, and my Ashesi education have increased my confidence, good work ethics, curiosity and creativity. I believe I am a great fit for this internship.
As I stated for my first option I have a strong passion for solar engineering and this led to my second-choice internship with GCIC being ATLAS BUSINESS AND ENERGY SYSTEMS. I am enthusiastic and amazed about the idea of using local components to assemble solar panels and charge controllers and I am eager to try that out.
My courses in circuits and power electronics will enable me to do solar household energy requirement calculations appropriately. My project on building a portable solar generator has given me adequate hands on experience to work with ATLAS efficiently. Also, my Ashesi education and international engagements have given me listening and writing skills and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment like ATLAS'.
During the 2017 summer vacation, I worked with seven other teammates on a research project. We applied the concept of synthetic biology to engineer a biological device (making changes to the orientation of the DNA of a harmless bacteria) that detects gold, liberates it from the ore and quantifies it. This idea was presented at the 2017 International Genetically Engineered Machine (IGEM) Competition held in Boston in November, where we won a silver medal and the chairman's award. Here is a link to my team's wiki page; http://2017.igem.org/Team:AshesiGhana/Team .
This proves my determination, will to do attitude, research and presentation skills. Also, confidently stepped out of my comfort zone to design a solution using a concept (synthetic biology) not related to my college course work (electrical engineering) proves my willingness and ability to easily assimilate new knowledge. I was also selected as a Clinton Global Initiative fellow to attend the October 2017 Clinton Global Initiative University Conference at North Eastern University in Boston, for providing education to farmers in the central region of Ghana on the use of hydro-gels as an alternative means of irrigation.

I am very passionate about healthy food, especially on the go foods that serves as snacks. Due to this, in my First year, my entrepreneurship team and I worked on providing healthy snacks from local sources to the staff and faculty of Ashesi. I believe people resort to snack options which we consider as junk because there is unavailable healthy snacks on the go in our communities. Sometimes, there is, but people aren't aware of their existence or they are not being advertised through the right mediums. For this reason, I was motivated to apply to intern with MoringaConnect Company in order to research into and create a working strategy that can be used to advertise and distribute the snacks made out of locally produced moringa.
My membership in the Ashesi Photography club and also my position as a design lab intern for social media and photography has given me a strong hand in the operation of professional cameras and creation of pictorial content and on social media. Also, as a result of launching a business that focused solely on providing locally sourced healthy snacks to students and staff in my freshman year entrepreneurship course, I have experience with researching into consumer preferences, product launching and developing iterations in startups, which is sort of a phase of re-branding, all in relation to healthy locally-made snacks. I am well versed when it comes to the rule of thirds in videography, and can also do video editing and a bit of 3D modelling. Based on these competencies, there is no better intern than myself to help moringa connect achieve it's milestones of establishing a social media strategy and re-branding minga snacks this summer.

Know percentage of sample size interested in using gas from their waste to cook. The price at which those at the bottom of the pyramid can pay for biogas system.
Last semester, I coached a team of first years who were researching into making bio-gas and fertilizers from organic waste created by roadside and market vendors as part of their Foundations of Design and Entrepreneurship course. I was very interested in their research but they couldn't carry it on to this semester, so i was pleased to apply for this internship because it will give me the opportunity to learn more about customer preferences and willingness to choose a more sustainable means to generate energy for cooking.
I am highly motivated with issues regarding sustainable development especially when it comes to reusing waste. Due to this, I started a business that makes jewelry out of recycled glass and plastic. I also run a community service where I help teach young girls to make these jewelry to earn revenue for themselves. I believe my passion for learning and gaining more insight on peoples willingness to re-use waste will drive me to work hard and carry out great market research that will help find out consumers ability to purchase biogas.

Internships are the best ways to find out whether one really knows what they claim to know. They provide a person with the opportunity to build and share what they already know without being expected to be experts in the area. They also promote learning of new things from new people. These are some of the things I look for wherever I go. I would like to do an internship with you because I believe that there is no end to learning, learning happens every single time of our life and what a better way to learn than in a group, something that you already have in the internship arrangements. I am very interested in an internship because, apart from learning and meeting new people, it will provide me an opportunity to experience how the real work life is. This will be very helpful in planning out my work life because I will have learnt what is required in the working world and the steps I will need to take in order to achieve it. It will also help me to build my communication skills as I will be constantly required to communicate on what I have or will do with other people. I also believe that apart from the gains I will have made during the internship, I will also have the opportunity to share my thoughts and bring new perspective into the projects and through this, the project will benefit from the fresh outlook and also contribute to its success.

The phrase “you are what you eat” has been told to me several times that I have lost count of it. One thing that is for sure is that I have come to believe it. What we eat is the most important thing we should be concerned about, it is the food that determines how our body acts and how our health eventually becomes. It is for this reason that I am interested in working with Neat Meat Company Limited. Neat Meat embodies the values I believe in. I believe in providing good quality food to all people in the society and ensuring that people in the society have access to clean food. I believe in using the right ways in doing so, an action that Neat Meat Company does by ensuring compliance with the government by ensuring that all meat is checked before it is sold. I believe in providing opportunities to all people regardless of their status in society and this is why I would like to work with Neat Meat Company because it gives farmers the opportunity to earn money from their animals in order to reduce poverty while providing value addition for their goods. I am also interested in working with Neat Meat because it promotes team work through their interactions with other companies.
Neat Meat Company Limited requires constant contact with the rest of the community members in the sale of meat and acquisition of feedback about the products. I am confident that I am the best fit for this internship, this is because I have experience with working with people. I am currently an Ashesi Design Lab intern working with D-Mobile, a project that seeks to take what we do at the Ashesi Design Lab to people who may not have the opportunity to join us at Ashesi. Through the project we meet new people and the interactions have helped me to learn how to interact with people and have also helped me in building my interpersonal skills. I have also volunteered to work with an organization called Kaya Women in helping to organize the women and children who come for medical screening and in administering of medicine to their children. In addition, I have also worked with an organization called PACE Kenya as a volunteer teacher in order to ensure that children especially those in the rehabilitation centers get good access to education in order to ensure that they have a smooth time while being re-integrated into the society. I believe that these experiences have prepared me to handle what I will be required to do at Neat Meat Company while at the same time learning new things.
"MoringaConnect Company Limited: Social media strategy (content development), High resolution pictures and video for website, flyers, brochures, social media pages, Help Launch our Minga snacks and the re-branding of our Minga teas, Map out stores to distribute our Minga foods brand (new products extensions & Minga teas). (Student:- Strong communication skills (written and Oral), Project management skills, Photography/ social media management and enthusiast & Strong research / analytic skills)
The story of how MoringaConnect Company Limited started is very inspiring. It is a true demonstration of how creativity when channeled in the right way can help in solving the world’s problems. I would like to be associated with such an organization and hence my choice for internship. I would like to intern at MoringaConnect Company Limited because I believe in nurturing talents and creativity, allowing people to dream no matter how wild the dream is because even in the face of adversity the dreams provide hope for the future. MoringaConnect Company Limited through its initiative, is able to provide farmers with job opportunities and elevate them from poverty. I would like to work with MoringaConnect because through this I will be able to contribute in my own way in the eradication of poverty especially in Africa a cause that I am very passionate about. I would also like to intern with MoringaConnect because I am very passionate about the preservation and full utilization of sustainable products and promotion of sustainable agriculture which is what the organization is all about and through this, I will be able to learn how I can apply what they are already doing in other parts of society.
Passion is the most important thing that one requires in order to do anything to the best of their abilities. This is because, it fuels one’s desire to achieve what they have set out to even when they face difficulties. I am confident that I am a fit candidate for this internship because I am passionate about the preservation and optimum utilization of sustainable products and I believe that my passion will help me in contributing a lot to the success of the project. I believe that these skills will be very useful when dealing with people a practice that is constantly done at MoringaConnect.
A person’s potential is measured by the things he or she has achieved. My most relevant achievement is the fact that I was selected among a large group of people to be an intern at the Ashesi Design Lab to work with a project called D-Lab Mobile. D-Lab mobile takes information about what we do at the Design Lab to people who were not able to attend the sessions. Through this, I have gained a lot of experience in communication and also improved my inter-personal skills. I believe that the skills will be relevant when doing the internship. I was also awarded a certificate of merit for volunteering as a rehabilitation center teacher for eight months. As I volunteered, I met with people from all walks of life and got to improve my communication skills and also my overall judgement of people. I also volunteered with an organization called Mazingira Safi Initiative which is a Swahili word for clean environment. During my time there, I developed an interest in the need to care for the environment as it could be used as a source of livelihood for other people. I also learnt different ways waste could be recycled and made into different creative things. I believe that the skills that I have acquired over time are relevant for this internship and I look forward to gaining even more skills through this internship.

I am particularly interested in food production and the business of agriculture. The objectives of this company are in line with my interest and personality. I am particularly moved towards this company because of my current and present involvement with similar projects such as marketing and distribution of food products.
I beautifully fit into this position because I have had basic exposure to food production and processing right from the start to the point of marketing. Coming from a science background especially, adapting to new scientific methods would not be a challenge to me at all. Moreover, Having gone through two years of liberal education in Ashesi University College, I have a broad and inquisitive nature to learn what ever is thrown at me. It would be no surprise to you that I would fit well into teams I am assigned to because of my numerous exposure and experience with people with diverse background. Thanks to the education I have received from Ashesi University College, I have a good sense of technological competence and I always get work done well and early.

Know percentage of sample size interested in using gas from their waste to cook. The price at which those at the bottom of the pyramid can pay for biogas system.
This company instantly caught my eye because it has become increasingly important to find alternate means of fuel that is natural, easily decomposed and less expensive to purchase. Especially for our part of the world, that is Africa where we are highly dependent on fuel for our day to day activities. I am motivated to be a part of this project because of the numerous benefits of bio gas production, they are renewable. An increasing awareness of bio gas production especially in Africa will not only benefit the people but will also contribute positively to a greener environment.
I am well adapted for this project first of all because I have an interest in it. I possesses good interpersonal skills and good communication skills as well. I have had enough exposure to technology which will help me contribute immensely to this project. I am competent in creating database that will aid in recording information about customers. last but not least, I am ready to learn and work well.
I am currently working on a D:lab project involved in using recyclable plastic waste bottles to produce food. The project is doing very well.

When I read that Ghana Climate Innovation Centre has internships in Power with a specialization in solar energy, I was sure that it was the course that would aptly suit my appetite. It is my dream to be part of a team that would pioneer in rehabilitation engineering. Ever since I had discovered my passion in electrical engineering, I wanted to extend my skills into the power sector by finding alternative but efficient ways of generating electricity. My passion for power motivated me to intern at the Electricity Company of Ghana where I had the chance to learn about power supply and alternate power sources. With the time I have spent in studying the course, I believe I have a liking to power engineering and would like share the knowledge I have gained as well as broaden my horizon via this internship which blends clean energy and power perfectly I stand strongly that the GCIC offers the perfect blend of internship jobs so that it could be a rigid foundation on which the zenith of my career may lie. With a burning desire to learn more and venture ahead in my favorite field, I hope to apply for the internship program in that may ultimately stretch my passion of becoming a Power Engineer.
7. Translight Solar Limited: Will be responsible for designing a process for solar energy assessment in schools. Solar Power is an area of alternate power supply which particularly interests me. I spent endless amounts of time last summer, calculating, coding and building a smart solar powered irrigation systems by hand. I have the experience and the attitude to excel in this internship position. I have almost four months of alternate power experience — including a summer internship at Electricity Company of Ghana where I was exposed to all aspects of power supply and worked so hard the first summer that they have invited me back for a second summer and to me more responsibilities. During my sophomore year at Ashesi University College, I spent my summer working on a solar powered irrigation project, where I have served in an assistant role but also recently had the chance to help write several codes for implementation of the project. I have a reputation learning very fast and for getting things done — with determination and the technical know-how. I also chose to work with solar as an alternate power source because I knew they would tie in well with the operational research modules I would be studying in school.

• I have a unique combination of Systems Analysis and service orientation, which means I’ll be able to determining how the system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
• I excel in the kind of persistence working environment.
• I’m known among my colleagues to be great at Operation Monitoring and troubleshooting.
• I’m particularly good at circuit simulation and analysis.
• I can see myself continually growing and developing my skills and knowledge to become even more valuable to the company in the coming years.
• This is my dream job. Someone else might have better credentials, but within a few months, I’ll have those same credentials, plus the passion those others lack.

I am motivated by coming up with new creative ideas. I would also have the chance to explore the blooming side of me; analyzing complex data in order to draw clear and simple conclusions. I also get a sense of accomplishment when I set and meet standards and deadlines. I'm also motivated by visible results in my proficient writing and scientific reporting skills – for example, when I wrote a scientific article for my student newspaper, I got a sense of accomplishment from knowing that up to 20 students would read it.

I can’t speak for the other candidates but I know why I’d be a great fit for this job. I am the right choice because I have a one year track record of taking on progressively responsible coaching role in the Foundation of Design and Entrepreneurship field, exceeding objectives and broadening the horizon of freshman students. I am highly endowed with knowledge in triple bottom-line, product design and market development. With my alliance to the writing center of Ashesi University College, and a semester long research in Material Science, building a writing a scientific report in a novel design, I would be the best fit for the job. I continue to learn and improve my skills by taking advantage of any relevant continuing education opportunities. Although I have a history of success, I am still hungry to meet new goals and overcome challenges. I’ve followed your company closely for many years and I know that we can be partners together in success.

first off, I have a keen interest in solar energy. This interest stems from my belief that solar energy holds the potential to offering Africa and the rest of the world an efficient an cheap source of energy. The tasks also promise to offer a great learning experience. All in all I foresee a wonderful opportunity to enrich my knowledge and skills in solar technology.
There are two main things that make me the best fit for this role. First, I am truly interested in solar energy which I believe is a prerequisite for the role. Second, I have good experience with the operation and maintenance of distribution boards. I had an opportunity to intern at ECG Roman Ridge and gained a lot of hands-on experience not only with distribution boards, but also transformers and switch gears.
I am passionate about sustainability and I see this internship as an opportunity for me to further pursue my passion whilst learning and applying in-class concepts. I am particularly excited about this opportunity as it will give me first-hand experience of the working environment of successful startups which I believe will go a long way to positively influence the decisions I will be making for my own startup which I am presently working on.
I am drawn to the company's strong sustainability values evidence in its offerings and the process in which its products are made. (i.e. the solar panels and controllers are made from local materials). Furthermore, I am excited about the opportunity to receive a lecture from Renewable energy expert Dr. Emmanuel Ndzibah which is part of the internship program with Atlas Ltd.
As an electrical engineer, I have undertaken the project of building smart solar-powered irrigation systems as part of my course work for Introduction to Engineering. Thus, I do have some experience working with solar panels. Furthermore, I am taking a class in circuits and electronics and so I believe I will be competent to meet up with the technical demands of this internship.
From the job advertisement, I understand that communication, reports writing, selflessness and ability to work under pressure is crucial to this position. Fortunately, I have been able to encompass these skills. I am a good communicator as I have coached three first year teams through the Foundations of design and entrepreneurship course. Furthermore, I have experience in report writing in and outside the class room. Apart from the compulsory reports writing required of all Ashesi students, I have also had to write reports for the MASO business academy after a field research to the Volta region helping the academy to access the effectiveness of its business curriculum. Also, I am actively involved in social activities through my participation with A New Dawn and Future of Africa.
DAS Biogas Construction Limited: How much households from the sample size are willing to pay for biogas system that can supplement more than 50% of cooking gas. Know percentage of sample size interested in using gas from their waste to cook. The price at which those at the bottom of the pyramid can pay for biogas system.
In addition to DAS biogas's strong culture of sustainability, its research-based internship speaks so much to my interest. I am really excited about field researches after learning from the design thinking approach its importance in achieving a market-solution fit.
The internship is basically “getting out of the building” to access some of the company’s assumptions. I have engaged in such researches as part of my work as the leader of my FDE group in my first year and have helped give advice on similar researches through my work as a coach for the Foundations of Design and Entrepreneurship course. Furthermore, I also volunteered for a similar role with the MASO business academy. The role involved ethnographic research to Ghana’s rural cocoa communities.

I am looking forward to any opportunity where I can acquire new skills to enrich the reservoir of skills that I already possess. Skills that will make me more innovative, analytical, imaginative, and notched with leadership potentials. I believe I am a quick learner and reader to fit into all spheres of learning to help me consolidate my future career.
1. Alchemy Alternative energy : Develop a more robust feedstock supply chain while optimizing process flow to boost operational efficiencies (Student: Engineering background with innovative & creativity)
Alchemy Alternative Energy (ARE) is basically into providing clean affordable energy merged with a comprehensive system of financing their projects. Their mode of energy production and business model based on collaborating with institutions and lenders to finance entities for the purchase of clean energy is of great interest to me. I envisage pursuing a career in solar energy-and clean energy in general-in the northern part of Ghana where I come from. Interning with ARE will not only enrich me with deep understanding of how clean energy sectors operate, but also, their business-oriented model will help me develop the needed skills to implement good financing strategies to help the poor access clean energy in rural areas.
I would think of myself as a quick learner and enthusiast ready to take up new challenges to solve problems. Over the summer last year, I got involved in a team of other colleagues to develop a solar-powered irrigation system. Also, my involvement in Model United Nations (MUN) activities expose me to the relevance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially goal 7 which advocates for affordable and clean energy. What distinguishes me from others is that, as a global citizen who knows UN policies, interning with ARE is not just producing clean energy, but a quest to attain a global goal that has adverse impact on climate change. This mindset is relevant to ARE which I think I already have.
ATLAS BUSINESS AND ENERGY SYSTEMS LTD: Student will be able to install a complete PicoABES unit, understand and do basic calculation for solar household energy requirement. (Student: ommunication and listening skills, Ability to write reports, selfless and work under little supervisions or pressurey)
The outstanding feature about Atlas Business Energy System (ABES) that interests me most is their diversity in clean energy production and the training that it provides. ABES’s energy production in solar, biogas, and wind energy would grant me the opportunity to tap into other renewable energy options available in my future career in clean energy. The training that they provide to technicians and students through Center for Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CREEIN) will be a start point for me to be a clean energy entrepreneur.
I see myself as an advocate for clean energy in Africa. I envisage extending clean energy to my community and global community at large. Interning with ABES would be a great opportune moment to combine my analytical and creative skills to the practical skills I would learn from them to impact lives whilst promoting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7.

"Your carbon footprint" is a phrase that I grew up hearing. With parents who were always reminding me not to litter, to turn off switches before bed etc, I was always shocked when I saw people outside my home callously contributing to the destruction of the environment and the ozone layer. However, I grew to realize that, no matter how inconceivable it seemed, there was always a reason for people's actions. Sometimes it was ignorance, sometimes it was lack of an alternative, and sometimes it was just nonchalance about the state of affairs. Since then, it has been a passion of mine to find ways of combating climate change and the harm that humans are causing to the environment in general. I believe that with the GCIC internship under my belt, I will be even more equipped to achieve my goal.
9. MoringaConnect Company Limited: Social media strategy (content development), High resolution pictures and video for website, flyers, brochures, social media pages, Help Launch our Minga snacks and the re-branding of our Minga teas, Map out stores to distribute our Minga foods brand (new products extensions & Minga teas). I've always known moringa as a super plant. What else could you call a plant that provides iron, fights cancer, lowers blood sugar, is good for the hair and skin, and tastes good? However, a lot of people lack knowledge about the health benefits of moringa, and spend huge amounts of money on manufactured products that may end up having adverse effects on their health. MoringaConnect will provide me with the perfect opportunity to spread awareness of the benefits of moringa, using tools such as digital marketing, and social media, that I am already comfortable with. This internship would also enhance my existing skills in these fields.
I believe I am the best fit for this job because I have extensive experience in social media management and digital marketing. I have worked with companies such as Accra[dot]alt where I managed the social media accounts including Twitter and Instagram, for the ChaleWote Street Art Festival, leading to a 15% increase in attendance for the years 2016 and 2017. In addition, because I believe in 'kaizen', which means 'continuous improvement', I have signed up for a course on digital marketing offered by Google, which will take place before the internship, in order to hone my skills. Finally, I am a very persuasive person, with experience in sales, and I believe I could cause sales of Minga Foods and True Moringa oils to skyrocket.

I chose this project because after taking a Database Management course this semester, I am eager to put my newfound skills to test. In addition, the opportunity to learn more about food science excites me because I have never been able to venture into this area, outside of my home. Neat Meat company also stood out to me from the list of companies because of its location. Although I hope to travel through as much of Ghana as I can, the farthest I have ever been is Kumasi. An internship in the Upper East district would therefore be an amazing opportunity, and one I would definitely make the most of.
As an Ashesi Amabassador for Ashesi University College and an Artist Relations intern for Accra[dot]alt, I have been exposed to diverse cultures and have experience interacting with people from all over the world. I believe this gives me the social intelligence necessary to understand what the customers of Neat Meat would be searching for, as well as how to incorporate it into the 3-year Marketing and Distribution Strategy. Also, haven taken two courses in Database Management(one online and one in-class), I believe I am fully equipped to create a digital database of marketers and bulk customers for the company.

1. Alchemy Alternative energy : Develop a more robust feedstock supply chain while optimizing process flow to boost operational efficiencies (Student: Engineering background with innovative & creativity)
I personally have interest in the field of alternative energy development and research. This interest has spurred me on to engage in projects in this field, one of which was inventing the 'Sand Themoelectric Generator'. This was a device that generates electricity from sand. It harnesses the heat generated in sand during the day, to be further used to generate electricity. I would be excited to work on projects within the field of alternative energy development and efficiency in order to learn and contribute to a cleaner and greener world.
I believe I am best fit for this internship because I my career path is one geared in this field and hence, would attend to it with all seriousness and dedication and not just an experience I would want to be a part of. In addition, my experience on working on projects within this field would be of immense contribution to this project. This internship seeks for an innovative and creative individual and these qualities clearly reflect the projects and research I undertake in, such as the invention stated above.

The subject of agriculture and food is one I love. Even as an engineering student I have two major projects in this area. One being a computer software to help simulate farm growth based on cultural practices and the other, an automated irrigation system to increase farm productivity.
I grew up in a house where food and food processing is almost always the subject of the conversation at home. My mother is a caterer and I do assist her in her bakery and food business. With my science and engineering background I have aided the bakery to develop a more efficient production process such as developing a natural thickener for bread from banana stock. I believe my entire life experience with food would be a unique one that would be of great contribution to this Unique Quality Product Enterprise.

I find that I enjoy the idea of applying my theoretical knowledge in a practical scope of reference, and in my opinion, an internship in a local firm committed to making change - particularly in Ghana - will afford me both the technical experience, and the chance to contribute to making my country a better place.
Considering the tropical location and weather patterns in Ghana, I believe that solar energy is the next frontier for alternative energy sources. This being said, working at Atlas would be a great way to gain an in-depth understanding of how solar energy works and the potential opportunities to fill in the gaps present in the industry via innovation. In addition, it would be awesome to work in an organization which believes in teaching and seeking contributions from interns, as evidenced by the information provided by the job poster.
Although I'm a Computer Engineering major, I have an extensive background in Circuits and Electronics, as well as previous experience in a team with the
final output of a small-scale solar generator. In addition, my willingness to research outside of a presented scope will aid me in asking questions and seeking assistance when I don't understand. My prior experience with technical subject matter means that I will more readily grasp new content and put it to practical use. In addition, I have experience in a non-technical scope due to my position as External Relations intern, which makes me well rounded. Finally, I believe my optimistic and lighthearted nature will also make me an asset when it comes to the culture of the company.
Cibus Technologies Limited : Final Design for Manufacture. (Student: Engineering and Marketing. Both Female. 3 rd years. Engineering and marketing project experience.)
In my opinion, it is necessary to consider context and making use of the unexpected when developing solutions. The work being done at Cibus is relevant in the sense that it aims at improving the living standards of Ghanaian homes using their own (usually undervalued) resources, and I would like the chance to find myself in an environment in which innovation is a standard practice, not a rare occurrence. In my opinion, working at an engineering firm with such a focus will be avenue to see the strides being made to improve the lives of other Ghanaians.
I believe very much in the need for constantly asking questions and going out of the scope of assigned work in order to succeed, and these are traits that aren’t only necessary in academics, but also in everyday life. Therefore, I will bring those very skills to the forefront if given this position. In addition, I have experience in both technical and non-technical areas, as evidenced by my experience with Circuits and Electronics projects, as well as my current position as intern with Ashesi’s External Relations department. These experiences, as well as my optimistic and curious nature are the major traits that make me suitable for the requirements of this position.

I find GCIC to be innovative and values environmental sustainability, a field in which I am passionate about and aims for a career in. I see a huge problem in Ghana with waste management and sanitation and currently, I am working on a project which seek to help combat this issue. Interning with GCIC will therefore be an opportunity to learn to broaden my knowledge and understand environmental issues in Ghana and also network with people that could provide the necessary information to help me in tackling sanitation issues in Ghana.
4. Green-Ef Eco-Business Village Ltd: Comprehensive product design and benefit analysis ii,) Theoretical and practical lessons on the product and market dynamics from students' perspective. Iii) Heavily researched and critical scientific paper of publishable quality and value addition to further product and market development (Student: Interest in and understanding of climate change, the tripple bottonline framwork, product design and market development and a high sense of rigor in academic analysis and writing)
I am interested in environmental sustainability and climate issues. I believe this project will be an avenue for me to learn and get hands-on experience and skills in the field whilst I also help the organization with my skills towards the achievement of their goal and providing insightful information for strategic decision making. This project will be an avenue to expose me to issues pertaining to the environment and sustaining it which would go a long way in helping me in my passion to take a career in this field.
I understand that this position requires someone with interest in welfare of people and the planet/environment, and skills in building successful business and scholarly activities. I am passionate about environmental sustainability and climatic conditions for which reason I am engaged in projects that seek to combat issues pertaining to the environment. Currently, I am engaged in a project that seek to solve two issues simultaneously. 1. Combat improper waste disposal in Ghana and 2. Provide employment for disabled people in Ghana. I have volunteered with a number of organizations including Tech Era and future of Africa, all of which seek the welfare of marginalized people in Ghana. I also have a great deal of experience in product design and market development through both taking courses in my university and also hands-on experience from running my own business (food joint). I am particularly good at communicating efficiently with customers, identifying customer problems and solving them in a way that ensures their satisfaction and continued loyalty and trust. I have experience in research and academic writing as I have studied research methods and carried out a series of research and written academic papers on them. I believe these experiences and skills make me the best fit for a position in Green-Ef Eco-Business Village Limited.
DAS Biogas Construction Limited: How much households from the sample size are willing to pay for biogas system that can supplement more than 50% of cooking gas. Know percentage of sample size interested in using gas from their waste to cook. The price at which those at the bottom of the pyramid can pay for biogas system.
My passion in waste management makes me excited about working on such a project. I am always on the lookout for better ways we can sustain the environment through proper waste management which include the use renewable energy. I understand this project may involve conducting research that would require field work. I am motivated to work on such a venture because I have strength in it and I am very productive when it comes to activities involving fieldwork. I believe the project would also give me the opportunity to learn more about biogas construction and how it works.
I understand that this business seeks to research into whether people would be willing to use and pay for a biogas system that is made from human waste. My passion in waste management makes me excited about working on such a project. I have skills in conducting both primary and secondary research. I have worked on a number of projects which involved designing and conducting primary and secondary research. In November 2017 for example, I volunteered to work with Future of Africa to conduct ethnographic research about the life of street kids. The research involved staying, mingling and interacting with the kids on the street for three days. It also involved interviewing of various stakeholders including policemen, parents and other people to find out their views, what they think could be done about the issue of streetism among other things. I wrote a report based on the findings for Future of Africa from which they gained insight to make decisions on how best they could combat the issue of streetism in Ghana. I believe my passion and skills makes me the best candidate to work on such a project since it would require people who are actually passionate about it and dedicated to work on it in order to generate true findings that would aid strategic decision making for the success of the project.
Most of my achievements have been around my passion in environmental sustainability, sanitation, agriculture and welfare of people. I have achieved a number of accomplishments in this area however I would like to mention two of them.
In September 2017, following my passion in sanitation and welfare of people, I established Imaginator’s Studio, a business that seeks to transform plastic and paper waste into crafts such as flowers, wall hangings, office desk organizers and other decorative items. We also make from plastic and paper waste accessories such as jewelries, bags and shoes. The business aims to be a source of employment for physically challenged individuals in Ghana who usually find it difficult securing employment because they are usually seen as unproductive. Since its inception, the business has been able to secure contracts from prominent people such as the Dean of student of Ashesi to make room décor items and other crafts from plastic waste for them. We have received much admiration by various stakeholders and currently, we are in the process of signing a collaborative agreement with a group of faculty members in Ashesi to launch a program for people to separate their garbage to help Imaginator’s Studio have easy access to the plastic and paper waste for use in our work.
From June – August 2017, I interned with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. Even though I was working in a department that was concerned with registering and indexing nursing students in Ghana, I was able to identify the issue of improper waste management and sanitation around the organization which I helped to solve. People used to dump rubbish right in front of the organization resulting in a heap of garbage at the premise. The heap had been there even before I went to the organization and nothing was being done about it. Considering that the organization was one that managed health workers, I realized it was not befitting for such a heap of garbage to be right in front of their gate and therefore I reported the issue to the authorities. They gave me the mandate to supervise a team to remove the garbage from there area and design a sign post to deter people from dumping refuse there. And since then, there had not been refuse in that area. These are achievements that make me proud because it gives me a feeling of following and fulfilling my passion.

As an electrical engineering student, I have learned a lot of concepts in electrical circuit analysis and electrical drawing with a software called LTspice. I learned how to draw and stimulate electrical circuits in LTspice. I also learned how to make technical drawing with software likes SOLIDWORKS and Sketch Up. With these skills, I believe this project will help me practicalize this concepts. Last year, I together with three other students were guided by the Ashesi engineering faculty to build a smart solar irrigation system. This project exposed me the concept of solar systems, and its importance to solving the energy problems in our communities and the nation in general. I also learned how to use micro-controller to stimulate and control electronic sensors in micro-automation systems. Though I have personally learned the processes involved in installing solar system after this project, I hope that this project will give me the chance to physically and practically involve in solar installation mechanism.
I think that with the basic knowledge I had in Solar systems will give me the upper-hand to understanding the principle of the Solar system installment. I also have knowledge in data analysis with software like R-studio and MATHLAB of which I believe will be helpful in the information management department in addition to the field of installation.
Unique Quality Product Enterprise(UQPE): Students with engineering background to facilitate the best quality dim fonio in West Africa for clients through effective milling and sorting.Marketing and sale of dim fonio both local and international is a major expectation.
