Note: Two polls on this topic were excluded due to the polls not coming from outlets with established track records. The first, from the Progressive Policy Institute in late 2024, found a 68% two-way share of voters saying Democrats were too leftwing. The second, from Strength in Numbers in July 2025, found a 47.5% two-way share of voters saying Democrats were too leftwing. Note that including both of these polls would accentuate the 2012-2025 trend, rather than dampening it, because the average two-way share between the two polls was 58% – higher than the ~54% found in the two polls from major outlets conducted on the topic in 2024/2025.
