1	Tomlinson's (2000) three stage framework can be a great model for considering how to adapt our materials and tasks for different learner needs. Read the lists of definitions and examples and place where you think they should go in the chart.

10		Activities. What learners do, how they are organized, the support available.	Individual learners choose a graded reader.
11		How learners demonstrate learning. What they are asked to produce and the teacher's responses.	Learners can choose how to present their work, e.g. oral presentation, written report.
12		What is to be learned and how the target knowledge, skills and attitudes are accessed. What learners work with.	Learners are working on a project in mixed-level groups. A small number of website resources ranging in difficulty has been recommended. Stronger students are encouraged to find additional resources.
13			For a coursebook listening task, learners are given the option of looking at the audio script as they listen.
14			Following work on the language of personal description, learners are asked to write a description of one or more family members in fifteen minutes.
15			Learners are doing a grammar worksheet. The weakest students are sitting together and the teacher is monitoring their work clsoely and helping as necessary. Other learners have chosen to work alone or in pairs.
