The Voice of Democracy Scholarship
Students in grades 9-12 (on the Nov. 1 deadline), who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States and its territories.
Students need to write a speech on what their responsibility to America is. The recording can be no shorter than three minutes and no longer than five minutes (plus or minus five seconds). The national first-place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school. Other national scholarships range from $1,000-$16,000, and the first-place winner from each (state) VFW Department wins a minimum scholarship of $1,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.

Each individual selected for the Harvey Fellowship is awarded an initial stipend of $12,000. UNCF will provide a $5,000.00 scholarship for the academic year, paid for by the SUEZ Foundation. The internships will be offered at various locations including but not limited to: Paramus, New Jersey; West Nyack, New York; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Wilmington, Delaware; Richmond, VA; Nassau, NY; West Basin, CA and Pasadena, TX. Each candidate must go through the Company’s for-profit hiring process and will be expected to present to key Project/Department staff
a final report and/or PowerPoint presentation of their internship experience.
