Plan vs Actual Gantt Template
4
5
6
What this template does
7
A two-line Gantt per task: the approved baseline on top, actual/forecast dates underneath — so slippage is visible at a glance, not buried in a status column.
8
Bar colour on the actual/forecast line shows how a task is tracking: on time or early, late within tolerance, or late beyond it.
9
A summary block rolls up baseline end, forecast end, total project slippage, and how many tasks are late beyond tolerance.
10
11
How to use it
12
1. Set the timeline start date (cell C3) and your tolerance for “still on track” in work days (cell C4).
13
2. Add one row per task: Owner, then a Baseline line and an Actual/forecast line with their own Start/End and % done.
14
3. Freeze the baseline once the plan is signed off — don't edit it again; update only the actual/forecast line as work happens.
15
4. Variance, bar colour, and the summary block all calculate on their own — nothing else to configure.
