| Alaina Feliks | teacher | I would like to fund the purchase of Skyline Writing Center t-shirts for our Writing Center tutors for the 2022-2023 school year. We plan to purchase plain white t-shirts and then tie-dye them as a group bonding activity, which is an important part of creating the successful community that the Writing Center needs to function. Having students wear Writing Center t-shirts during Spirit Week activities or on a field trip also helps advertise the Writing Center and its services to the broader community. | School Climate/Culture or Community Building | 40 (plus the marketing of the Writing Center to the broader population). | $450 | t-shirt printed by Ann Arbor t-shirt company. Each t-shirt will cost $11.25

| Molly Anderson, Charissa Bass, Tiffany Kincaid, Terri Patterson | SkySquad Staff/Office | SkySquad is our Restorative Justice program that is student-led by juniors and seniors trained in peer mediation and conflict resolution. The SkySquad mentors work out of the Equality office, B425, which is located on the 4th floor. Currently, the space has a SkySquad mural and 4-5 posters on the wall, but the office's overall look is very dated. Because SkySquad is housed in this SLC office, we want to give the office a new look that will be reflective of what the students do, by adding some appeal. We want the students to want to come to this office and for the overall vibe to be reflective of the work that this organization does. We would like to get pictures framed of past and current members, hang pictures, get a mural painted in the restorative circle office space, and add a rug and a few items to make the space more welcoming, ie. plants, photographs, and a floor lamp for softer lighting. We feel that this will make the office more inviting, as well as, give the students a sense of pride with a new fresh look for their workspace. We want to invest in our students and the program that they run. | Academics, School Climate/Culture or Community Building, investing in our restorative justice program | 25 | $500 | Minimalist Art -$65.99, Minimalist art -$44.99, Minimalist Art- $65.99, Framed Wall Art 2-pack$22.94, Area Rug _$69.99, Dimmable Floor Lamp- $59.99, 2 sets of Mini Potted plants -$34.00, Yepdin Artificial ficus tree- $117.99
| Ashley Ducker | teacher | I am looking for a PTSO grant to purchase AMSCO readers for the AP US History class. The current text was published in 2008 ad is a college-level text meant to be used by university students and not an AP-level text designed for high schoolers. The text is difficult in terms of reading level, organizational complexity, and visual appeal and therefore lacks accessibility for many 10th grade readers. I would like to loan these books to struggling readers as a form of academic support. | Academics, Financial assistance for Skyline family/families in need | 7 (this can be reused each year though) | $250 | AMSCO's Advanced Placement United States History, 4th edition - $35
| Terri Patterson | 9th Grade Dean | Rising Scholars will be hosting a Saturday School event where 9 teachers and the Rising scholars students will come together in the commons on 11/5/22 to assist students with completing process assignments, tutoring assistance, and prep for exams. There are so many students who need more one-on-one assistance for the final push of the trimester. This event will allow students to get that one-on-one time. We will hold a Saturday School event on 11/5/22 and 2/18/23 | Academics, School Climate/Culture or Community Building | 20-30 students | $900 | $50 gift cards for the 9 teachers that participate.

| Jennifer Pool/David Greene | Teacher - club administrator for quiz bowl/ club administrator for science bowlStudent - quiz bowl president | The project is a New buzzer system for Science Bowl and Quiz Bowl Clubs. The current buzzer system is insufficient for both clubs and cannot be used in tournaments. The current buzzer system malfunctions regularly and not all students have access to functioning buzzers in practice. By replacing the current system we will have an elgibile buzzer system that allow our clubs lower fees for tournaments and will stream line practices/scrimmages. | Extracurriculars (activities/clubs/etc.) | 14 students and 2 teachers | $368.95 | Traditional Buzzer System - Basic 5-16 players $368.95
| Candace O'Leary | Teacher | As a second year teacher here at Skyline, I am still growing the program and expanding how I reach and connect with our students. I am seeing higher numbers in my classes and am happy to share that I will have two sections of the Intermediate level of Ceramics and Sculpture, which I believe is the first time that this has happened here. When I started at Skyline, I had one section of that class with only 11 students, and now my sections are overflowing with eager and ambitious students. Because the majority of my resources are consumable, more students means that I need more resources, such as clay and glaze, to allow them to move forward with zeal. Additionally, I have taken on five Independent Study Students each trimester, and they are not included in the overall annual budget, which leaves me trying to find ways to support their growth. I would love to be awarded a grant to purchase new clay bodies for them to explore new processes and techniques, as well as replenish the glazes in the classroom. This will allow my Intermediate and Advanced students to continue making without syntactical limits. | Academics | All of my students would benefit from this grant, which is roughly 100 students per trimester. | $500 | Glaze, Clay, New tools.
| Carolyn Hill & Lindsey Szurek | school librarians | Considering the size of the student body, the Skyline Library has a relatively small collection. As librarians, we aim to change that. In order to enhance the efficacy of our budget, we have been participating in a site called Paperback Swap (www.paperbackswap.com) since the spring of 2019, where we mail out books that have been donated to us as well as retired books from our collection in exchange for used books that we need, both fiction and nonfiction. The only cost of these books is the postage, which is typically $3.33/book. When compared to the price of a new book, which can range from $15-30/book, this is an excellent deal and greatly extends the use of our funds. To provide some context, since we joined Paperback Swap in May 2019, we have received 492 books. Many of the titles we receive through Paperback Swap are titles that students and teachers request to support the district independent reading initiative. The ELA department is particularly focusing on student choice and voice, and providing a vast collection representing many interests and voices is our main goal. In past years, we have used the money we collect from student late fines as our postage fund. However, all school libraries in the district have eliminated late fees, due to issues of equity. Without receiving cash funds from late fees, we have no discretionary funds that would allow us to keep using this program. We appreciate your continued support in this endeavor, as you were able to grant us these funds last year. | Academics, School Climate/Culture or Community Building, Extracurriculars (activities/clubs/etc.) | 1320 | $500 | See project description
| Gabriel Rettaliata | Teacher, Ethics Bowl team coach | The Ethics Bowl team won the Michigan state bowl, and won the regional playoff, and will be heading to North Carolina to complete in the National championship. Ethics bowl is a cousin of debate, in that they analyze cases with different moral situations and potential sides to argue in favor of, but ethics bowl values the discussion of all of the points of view, the central moral themes of the situations, and helping the other team to strengthen their argument as opposed to trying to poke holes in it. The competition really is a great mix of teamwork, reasoning skills, public speaking, thinking on your feet, listening skills, and logic use. The members are excited to be representing Skyline in the National bowl, but were hoping to get some financial assistance in the travel expenses of flying to Raleigh-Durham and back. | Extracurriculars (activities/clubs/etc.), Representing Skyline on a national stage | 4 | As much as PTSO is willing to give | The travel costs will be the biggest expense, and where we are hoping to get the most assistance. Plane Tickets- ~$440 per person, round trip Hotel Room- About $180 a room per night for 3 nights, and there will be 4 different rooms Meals- Several meals are provided by the event, but there will be at least 3 meals purchased ourselves (lets say ~$25 per person per meal)
