Map Load after starting new gameThe DeathspeakerSoul Commander, welcome to Solaris - the first of many new worlds we shall conquer in the name of Death.
3
The DeathspeakerWhen Death first showed us the stars, many of us wondered why, but you - as always - saw how best to please our Lady. You heard her command.
4
The DeathspeakerAnd so we've come, light years and miles away, to this world full of heretics. Non-believers. Fools. We will show them how wrong they are to ignore the will of Death.
5
Soul CommanderIndeed we will, Deathspeaker. Have we begun staging?
6
The DeathspeakerYes, Soul Commander. Right this way.
7
Tip Pop-upClick on the hex with your home base to view the base in detail.
8
Base Detail View loadsThe DeathspeakerAs you can see commander, we've converted the mothership into a command center. Staging will begin here.
9
The DeathspeakerAs we defeat heretics and collect their souls, we will be able to ask Death for her favor to warp in new units and make our army more powerful.
10
Tip Pop-upWhen you travel throughout the world, you will encounter defenseless villages and defeat armies of the enemy, the Solari, to collect Souls. Some Events, which will be covered later, also reward Souls.
11
Tip Pop-upSouls can be spent to recruit new units for your party or to upgrade unit types, making both new and existing units of that type more powerful.
12
Tip Pop-upYour base is also the only place where you can decide on how your units will be positioned when you enter battle, viewable by selecting "Placement" from the base menu.
13
Soul CommanderLady Death offers nothing for those that have not yet done her bidding. Gather the Chosen that have made planetfall. It is time to begin.
14
The DeathspeakerWe are Death's Chosen! Glory to She Who Watches! Woe to those who are blind to her ultimate glory!
15
Overland map loadsTip Pop-upCleanse Solaris of Heretics
You have landed on a hostile world populated entirely by heretics - The Solari - who are unaware that Death is the only true god in the universe.

Your mission is to explore this world, collect Souls from your enemies, improve your army, and ultimately conquer the heavily-fortified capital of the Solari to end their heresy once and for all.
16
Tip Pop-upThe map starts out covered with fog. To reveal hexes, you have to venture away from your base - only hexes adjacent to your party are revealed when you move. Once you've revealed a hex, you can view the details of that hex by mousing over it at any time.
17
Tip Pop-upTo move your party, left click on a hex adjacent to your party. Keep moving until you discover points of interest - Villages, Events and Enemy Encounters.
18
Tip Pop-upBefore you move onto an Event or Battle tile, you'll want to check the health of the units in your party, visible as blue bars next to the unit's portrait at the top of the screen. If you're low on health, you'll want to head back to your base to heal your party back to full.
19
Player discovers a Village.Soul CommanderWe're in luck, Chosen! This village of heretics is undefended. Slaugher them all! Souls for the Death god!
20
Tip Pop-upVillages are undefended tiles of Solari citizens that your army easily wipes out, resulting in a one-time collection of a small amount of souls without any combat or events.
21
Player discovers an EventSoul CommanderWhat's this? Be wary, Chosen, something strange is at work here. Be ready for anything.
22
Tip Pop-upEvents are unique tiles that present a situation and offer choices that each have different outcomes. Beware - some Events will negatively affect you and your party!
23
Player discovers a Battle tileSoul CommanderHeretics!
24
DeathYou know what must be done, my chosen one. Let none survive.
25
Soul CommanderSteel yourselves for battle, Chosen. It is time to show these fools what happens to those who defy the one true god of the universe. Let their souls be fuel for her unending power!
26
Tip Pop-upBattles are tiles containing enemy military units that you must engage and defeat. Defeating an enemy in battle rewards the greatest number of souls outside of boss encounters.
27
Tip Pop-upYou can view the difficulty of a battle tile by mousing over it to reveal how many enemy units are present and what level they are. Depending on the power of your party and the enemy on the tile, you may want to come back later when you have more powerful units - if you lose a battle and don't have enough souls to buy new units, your game will be over.
28
Player enters Battle for the first timeTip Pop-upWelcome to your first battle! Battle in Soul Commander is turn-based. Unit order in battle is determined by the Speed statistic of each unit's type - the higher the speed, the earlier in each round they are able to act. The unit that will act first has an arrow-shaped rune above its head.
29
Tip Pop-upMousing over enemy unit will display that unit's current statistics, including hit points (HP). When a unit is currently moused over, it will be shaded red.
30
Tip Pop-upYour approach to each battle and decision about which unit to attack will change based on the positioning of your units, positioning of the enemy's units, and each unit's capabilities.
31
Tip Pop-upIn some cases, it may make more sense to reposition a unit than to attack. You'll have to choose, though - a unit can either move or attack in a turn, not both.
32
Tip Pop-upWhen you're ready, mouse over the unit you want to target and left click to send the active unit to attack!
33
Player collects Souls for the first time.Soul CommanderLady Death be praised - we have the souls of the heretics in hand! We offer them unto you, Death, as payment for your blessings and favor.
34
Tip Pop-upWhen you collect souls out in the world, they are added to your reserves. In order to spend them to purchase or upgrade units, you will need to return to your base.
35
Player steps into EnemyBase/Biome 4Soul CommanderThe heretic fortress is close, Chosen! Prepare yourselves for the final battle! Souls for the Death god!
