William Bednarz of New Polity (newpolity.com) has researched the companies that make up seven investment funds often recommended by Catholic ministries, dioceses, and universities (Newman guide and other) for their employees’ 401(k) plans. 27–41% of these companies in these funds have committed or been credibly accused of commiting actions that violate human dignity and disobey the teachings of the Catholic Church. New Polity has listed these companies here, along with evidence of their promotion and participation in evils, in order to illustrate the dangers of blind investing and provide the data necessary for a more practical recommendation: that Christians only invest with a clear conscience and for the sake of building up a Christian society.
