Allocation Formula$2.8 Billion 3 grant types
(1) Planning - up to $200,000 for up to 2 yrs of planning, 2021–22 & 2022–23,
(2) Implementation grants - up to $500,000 annually for up to 5 years
(3) Coordination grants - up to $100,000 annually per site of an existing community school 2024–25

$200 million allocated based on fall '20 CalPads:
○ Base grant of $100,000 if 100+ K; $50,000 if 24-99 K, and if under 24 K then $25,000 to all LEAs that operate Kindergarten.
○ 60% of remainder allocated based on 2019-20 K enrollment.
○ 40% of remainder allocated based on 2019-20 Unduplicated K enrollment.
An additional $100 million for competitive grants to increase the
number of and provide specific training to preschool, TK, K teachers.
○ Competitive grants can be for an individual LEA or a consortium
of LEAs.

○ Must offer in-person before and/or after school programs that, when added to instructional minutes, are at least 9 hours.
○ Provide at least 30 days, of at least 9 hours, during intersessional periods.
○ Serve snack/meal
Can be used for costs associated with creating or expanding CSPP or TK programs, or to establish or strengthen partnerships to ensure that high-quality options for prekindergarten education are available for four-year-old children. Allowable costs include, but are not limited to: (1) planning costs, (2) hiring and recruitment costs, (3) staff training and professional development, (4) classroom materials, and (5) supplies.
Funding can not be used for the purchase or installation of portable classrooms
