Artists in ActivismMarysville, WAArtists in Activism is a non-profit in Marysville, WA that started amidst the backlash stemming from the murder of George Floyd in 2020. Our mission is to support community advancement, of the underrepresented, through the arts. We have been conducting a musical and visual protest in Marysville, WA.We have become a community safe space for marginalized groups, social justice advocates, and a small community of black citizens. Marysville, WA is located north of Seattle in Snohomish County and is home to only 2.8% or 22,670 black residents. This small population still struggles with the effects of systemic racism and police brutality while having little to no resources or organizations within the county that provide an environment of empathy and empowerment. From this perceived need we decided to start Think Ideas, our vision for a multi media community resource center that provides resources, education, and curates our communities creativity to produce change making artistic content. We have already started producing content and partnering with City, County, and State officials and law enforcement to bring a voice to our community.

Seattle People of Color SalonsSeattle, WAWe strive to make space for our multivalent selves. We contain multitudes of opinions and try to communicate with respect and listen to each other's experiences as a recognition of the true value each of our lives hold. We work towards a potential whole, where we can disagree on many things, but always agree to keep learning and growing as we make mistakes. If you identify as a non-white-identified person of color, you are welcome here. However, if you are anti-black, anti-trans, or fall on the hotep-spectrum, this may not be the group for you as it is likely that you will experience well-articulated and strongly-worded push-back for perpetuating cycles of oppression (internalized or otherwise).
