I would like more classical pieces played; however, I also do not mind freestyles or any music from popular artists such as Adele, Dolly Parton, Rihanna, and Bruno Mars. I want music that is calm but revitalizing-- nothing too somber. This will be a small group of 10-20 people (not completely sure how many guests I'd like, but the maximum would be 20 if I decided to invite more than I'm thinking of now). The party will likely be 2 hours; however, I only expect the musicians for 1-1.5 hours.$500

He suffered a spinal cord injury right before college and although he regained his ability to walk with crutches, his progressive condition at this age has led to him now being bedbound. He has always loved classical music and I believe he would absolutely love a string trio or quartet performance and the opportunity to speak with musicians (hopefully for 1-2 hours at his home in Northbrook). Apologies for not submitting a request sooner, but we only recently confirmed our family’s ability to be in Chicago the weekend of May 2nd. I am paying $1.25 per measure for a 5-instrument score. I haven't added up all the measures, but based on the length of the arrangements, it will be between $500 and $1000 of work, maybe more. It should be an easy job and worth the money for anyone with good proficiency in Sibelius. I will say that though my handwritten scores are eminently legible, they do not scan well into Photoscore / ScanScore / NotateMe. This job is for manual input of the scores. Due to the themes and dynamics in the script, this production specifically calls for a violinist who identifies as a woman. In this play, the violinist has about 13 pages of music that will be memorized. The violinist will also have some staging, but no lines. While the composer and playwright have spotted generally where the music lies in the script, the director and violinist will work together to specify what excerpts of each piece work where. SYNOPSIS: In “Female, Ashkenazi with a Sewing Machine,” the diagnosis of ovarian cancer propels adoptee Anna on a journey, with her sewing machine, to find her deepest roots. It’s a non-linear, dimension defying journey, as she walks along the horizon, acutely aware of death on the other side, aided and challenged by the shape-shifting Ashkenazi Foundress. Along the way, she collides with her genetic mutation, stumbles into chapters of Ashkenazi history, with indigo, her favorite color, ever present, taking her home. PAY: $150 honorarium - This is wildly under what the violinists work is worth, so this position is more of a volunteer position and the honorarium is what we have to offer as a small thank you.
